Joey Erace commits to Rutgers baseball.

Rutgers baseball landed a big-time commitment this week from New Jersey infielder Joey Erace. The star player is a tremendous all-around athlete and prospect, who is perhaps best known for making the cover of TIME Magazine

A versatile infielder, Erace committed to Rutgers on Tuesday. The class of 2025 recruit plays for St. Augustine High School (Richland, N.J.).

Erace is ranked a ‘9’ by Perfect Game. That ranking translates to a projection of being  a”Potential top 10 round pick and/or highest level college prospect.” He runs a 6.79 time in the 60 and has an infield throwing velocity of 88 miles per hour.

Erace is a huge social media star, with over 60,000 followers on Instagram. In 2017, he was on the cover of TIME as the magazine explored students being trained like professional athletes.

Erace was 12-years old at the time he received this national attention.

His father commented on all the early attention.

“In the end, probably more like 95 percent of it is good,” said Joe Erace, his father. “He gets stuff all the time on Instagram saying ‘you inspire me’ and ‘great article.’ It’s all good stuff, there’s a couple of weirdos that say something.”
