WATCH: Wisconsin legend Joe Thomas receives his gold jacket

The gold jacket symbolizes the pinnacle of NFL football, and for Wisconsin legend Joe Thomas that dream of wearing one is finally a reality.

Thomas was the anchor of Wisconsin’s offensive line during his time in Madison, and was a first-team All-Big Ten performer twice while earning All-American honors in 2006 as a senior. He was the No. 3 overall pick in the 2007 draft by the Cleveland Browns and went on to have one of the best careers of any offensive lineman in NFL history.

Thomas earned his spot in the Hall of Fame class of 2023 and now gets to wear his gold jacket:

The NFL has officially announced the order in which the players joining the Pro Football Hall of Fame will speak. First-ballot Hall of Famer and former Cleveland Browns left tackle will be the last to speak during the ceremony on August 5. There was no chance that Thomas wouldn’t be a first-ballot guy, especially with his record of 10,363 consecutive snaps during his time as a Brown.

It will be nice for Browns fans to see Joe join this exclusive club as one of the only bright spots they had since the return in 1999. With the ceremony coming soon that means we will soon see the Browns face off with the New York Jets in the Hall of Fame preseason game.

And as Joe Thomas gets ready to put on the gold jacket and to be immortalized in Canton, Ohio, they have opened up his exhibit inside the museum.

The Pro Football Hall of Fame’s Twitter account tweeted out a video of Thomas’ exhibit, unfortunately displaying the ugly uniforms the Browns wore between 2015 and 2019. Regardless, it is cool to finally see a player from Cleveland enshrined for the first time in over 25 years.

Jim Brown to Joe Thomas: Best Browns player to wear every jersey number

We know of the Hall of Famers Jim Brown and Joe Thomas, but who were the best Browns players to wear every single number?

The Cleveland Browns have a rich history. While they have not had a stellar track record since their return to the league in 1999 (Joe Thomas is their only Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee since), they are remembered for the dominance of Jim Brown, Otto Graham, and more. As the Browns look to get back into the playoffs for the first time in three years, perhaps there are brighter days on the horizon.

Until then, however, we will continue to reminisce on the good days. We do just that here, taking a look at the best players at every number to suit up for the Browns throughout their entire franchise history.

Browns Mount Rushmore: Who are the best players in Cleveland history?

Who makes it onto the Mount Rushmore for Cleveland?

Though things haven’t been great since the Cleveland Browns returned in 1999. Before that, however, the team had a rich history of winning and talented players. The Browns have sent 18 players to the Pro Football Hall of Fame, including running back Jim Brown, which ranks 10th all-time. They will also add a 19th member this summer when left tackle Joe Thomas is inducted into the Hall.

There are plenty of players to choose from when making a Mount Rushmore of the four most influential players in team history. It was a tough decision when looking at players like Clay Matthews and Bernie Kosar, who had great careers and just missed the cut. Let’s take a look at the Mount Rushmore, Browns edition.

73 days until Browns season opener: 4 players to wear 73 for Cleveland

Joe Thomas will likely be the last Brown to wear the number 73

In Cleveland Browns history only 12 players have worn the number 73 and that will likely be the total for the rest of the franchise’s history. Joe Thomas is a once and a lifetime player and one of the best left tackles the game has ever seen. His 10,363 consecutive snap streak is something that might not ever be broken.

The Browns have an extra preseason game this year thanks in part to Joe Thomas’s induction into the Hall of Fame this summer. Let’s take a look at five players that have worn the number 73 in the team’s history a club that likely never grows in Cleveland.

3 Browns players named as best player to wear their respective number

The Browns had three players named as the best players to wear their respective numbers by Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar.

The Cleveland Browns have not had many recent Hall of Famers but will have one in offensive Joe Thomas in a little over a month from now. And he is one former Browns player to make an appearance for Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar as the best player to wear his respective number.

While Thomas is the best player to wear number 73 in NFL history, which other two Browns players cut it for Farrar? We take a look at all three here.

Badger Countdown: Former OT set to be inducted into NFL HOF as No. 73

Badger Countdown: Former OT set to be inducted into NFL HOF as No. 73

The 2023 college football season is on the horizon and the Badgers are now 73 days away from their season opener versus Buffalo at home on Sept. 2. In August’s NFL Hall of Fame induction ceremony, former Wisconsin offensive tackle Joe Thomas, who wore number 73 with the Cleveland Browns, will be amongst those enshrined.

From Brookfield, Wisconsin, Thomas spent the 2003-2006 seasons as a member of the Badgers’ offensive line. After he went third overall to the Cleveland Browns in the 2007 NFL Draft, Thomas at one point made 167 straight starts for the Browns at left tackle, playing an NFL record 10,363 offensive snaps over that stretch.

Additionally, the offensive lineman was inducted into UW-Madison’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2019 and he will now be a hall of famer at the highest level.

PFF shares their 10 highest-graded Browns since they began in 2006

Of the Browns top 10 highest graded players since 2006, four still play for the team.

PFF began grading players back in 2006 and has now released the top 10 highest-graded  Cleveland Browns players in that time. The top of the list should be no surprise as Joe Thomas will be enshrined in the Hall of Fame later this summer as one of the best to ever do it.

Of the top 10, there are four current Browns players on the team and a total of five players that are offensive linemen. During all the struggles they always seemed to have some decent offensive linemen. The list ends with a player that had all the talent in the world but couldn’t stay on the field in Josh Gordon.

Let’s take a look at the top 10 ranked players since 2006 according to PFF.
