Greg Olsen, Joe Davis on the call for Saints vs. Eagles in Week 3

Greg Olsen and Joe Davis are on the call, with Pam Oliver reporting from the sidelines on the FOX Sports broadcast of Saints vs. Eagles in Week 3:

We already know that FOX Sports is casting a wide net for Week 3’s matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles — TV broadcast coverage extends all throughout the Southeast and up both coasts, and there will be a lot of eyes on this game. But who will we be listening to on the call?

Depending on who you ask, the FOX Sports A Team. Greg Olsen and Joe Davis will be in the broadcast booth with Pam Oliver reporting from the sidelines at the Caesars Superdome on Sunday. Tom Brady and Kevin Burkhardt’s crew is the network’s A Team, on paper, but Brady’s lackluster performance on the mic has led to a lot of viewers asking for Olsen. He and Davis have made for a popular B Team at FOX.

The three-time Pro Bowl tight end was a big-time rival of the Saints’ for years with the Carolina Panthers, and he’s transitioned well to a role in the media. Olsen has gained a lot of fans for his ability to play up dramatic moments in games as naturally as he breaks down why something is so impressive from a schematic point of view. So Saints fans could be in for a treat with Olsen sharing his commentary this Sunday.

Joe Davis delivered an electric call of Corey Seager’s mammoth 9th-inning HR to tie World Series Game 1

What a call!

Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager stepped up in a huge way for his team in front of a home crowd in the bottom of the ninth in Game 1 of the 2023 World Series on Friday night.

Going into the ninth, the Rangers trailed the Diamondbacks, 5-3, and center fielder Leody Taveras opened the bottom of the inning by getting the lead-off walk. A couple batters later, Seager was up.

And Seager must have liked what he saw on his first pitch because he swung big and blasted a mammoth home run to tie the game, which ultimately went into extra innings. The crowd at Globe Life Field sounded absolutely electric, but Fox’s Joe Davis delivered an incredible call of Seager’s homer.

Game 1 was an exciting one, but this is simply a great call for an awesome World Series moment.

Transfer portal update: Two more Buffs enter and two others find homes elsewhere

The transfer portal mayhem continues

A total of four Colorado Buffaloes have recently either entered the NCAA Transfer Portal or have committed to a new program.

Here’s the breakdown.

Entered the transfer portal:

Sophomore running back Joe Davis announced via Twitter on Tuesday afternoon that he would be entering the transfer portal. The Littleton, Colorado native played just one game in 2021 and was able to use a redshirt.

In his short career with the Buffs, Davis rushed for a total of 69 yards throughout the course of three seasons. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining.

Offensive lineman Kanan Ray then announced on Wednesday that he had also entered the transfer portal. Ray, who will be considered a graduate transfer, was a former four-star recruit and member of UCLA’s 2017 class. He grayshirted the 2017 season, however, and then transferred to CU when former Bruins head coach Jim Mora was fired. With the Buffs, Ray played in 22 career games and started a total of three at guard. He now has two seasons of eligibility remaining.

Found new homes:

Safety Mark Perry was one of the Buffs’ many defensive backs to recently enter the transfer portal. About two weeks after Perry made his intentions clear on Dec. 28, the third-year sophomore announced his new commitment to TCU on Monday.

Perry will make his Horned Frogs’ debut at Folsom Field in the 2022 season opener.

Wide receiver La’Vontae Shenault had a rough career at Colorado and entered the transfer portal a few days before the Buffs’ 2021 season ended.

The third-year freshman announced via Twitter on Wednesday that he’ll be continuing his career at Alabama State.

Mike Tirico replacing Al Michaels on Browns-Giants due to COVID-19 protocol issues

Mike Tirico gets the relief call for Al Michaels on Browns-Giants

Al Michaels will be out of the booth Sunday when NBC broadcasts the Cleveland Browns-New York Giants game.

The 76-year-old legendary voice failed to clear COVID-19 protocols and will be replaced by Mike Tirico.

Tirico has filled in for Michaels on his bye weeks in the past, including Sunday’s Pittsburgh Steelers-Buffalo Bills game.

Michaels said in a statement that he feels fine and has a temperature of 97.5 with no symptoms.

The shift of Tirico caused another move in play-by-play for Week 15 as he was originally on the call for the Carolina Panthers-Green Bay Packers game.

The assignment there goes to Joe Davis.
