Steve Wilks sends Panthers WR Robbie Anderson to locker room

After shouting in the face of WR coach Joe Dailey and isolating himself on the sideline, Robbie Anderson was kicked out of Sunday’s game by interim HC Steve Wilks.

We may have just seen the last game from Robbie Anderson in a Carolina Panthers uniform.

And that game ended after he was sent off the field during the team’s Week 6 matchup against the Los Angeles Rams. Interim head coach Steve Wilks booted the seventh-year wideout, who openly exhibited his frustrations throughout the afternoon, to the locker room.

Earlier in the contest, Anderson got into it with wide receivers coach Joe Dailey—with FOX cameras catching the two engaging in a face-to-face shouting match prior to halftime. He then proceeded to isolate himself from the rest of the team on the sideline.

Anderson, who was thrown to zero times on Sunday, hasn’t had the 2022 he probably envisioned—as he’s been targeted just 27 times over six games. He’s amassed 13 catches, 206 receiving yards and one touchdown.

A dismal 2021 has likely contributed to those emotions as well. Last year saw Anderson post career-lows in receiving yards (519), yards per reception (9.8) and catch rate (48.2 percent).

The 29-year-old has also been the subject of some recent trade rumors—something that might come to fruition sooner rather than later.

Panthers WR Robbie Anderson shouts at coach Joe Dailey on sideline

Cameras caught Robbie Anderson getting heated in the face of Panthers WR coach Joe Dailey.

Carolina Panthers wideout Robbie Anderson is starting to feel the frustration . . . again. And he’s starting to show it on the sideline . . . again.

Late in the second half of the team’s Week 6 matchup with the Los Angeles Rams, the seventh-year veteran got into the face of receivers coach Joe Dailey. FOX cameras caught the heated shouting match:

Through five games entering the day, Anderson totaled 13 catches, 206 receiving yards and one touchdown off 27 targets. Now, with two more quarters under his belt to this point, he stands at *checks box score* 13 catches, 206 receiving yards and one touchdown off 27 targets.

Anderson is no stranger to venting his frustrations on the sideline. In fact, it happened twice during the 2021 campaign—with his first coming in the Week 5 game against the Philadelphia Eagles and the second less than a month later against the New England Patriots.

This latest outburst may not bode well for Anderson’s future in Carolina, which is already in question following recent reports of his availability via trade.

The Offensive Coordinator Big Board: who could Rutgers football be looking at?

The hot board for Rutgers football’s offensive coordinator position.

OK, let’s get this out of the way. Dan Mullen isn’t coming here. And in all likelihood, Rutgers football isn’t hiring away a current Power Five offensive coordinator.

But this is an appealing job that could offer a nice career boost to the right candidate. And if the next offensive coordinator can get the unit functioning, it could be a huge step forward in someone’s career.

So there won’t be a shortage of interested candidates.

Now consider that head coach Greg Schiano has often valued ties and connections with many (not all, but many) of his hires. So coaches he has worked with or coached with before will likely get a long look. And no one will get a longer look then Nunzio Campanile, installed as the interim offensive coordinator this Sunday.

Let’s take a look at what names make sense – along with a few reaches – to be the next offensive coordinator at Rutgers.

Who’s out and who’s in for the Panthers 2022 coaching staff

The Panthers made a bunch of changes to their coaching staff this offseason—so many that they may have been difficult to keep track of. So, we did it for you.

After an embarrassing 5-12 campaign, Carolina Panthers saw a whopping eight coaches from their 2021 team hit the bricks. Whether that was by the fiery hand of Matt Rhule or a move elsewhere on their own accord—the now former coordinators, position coaches and assistants gave way to what’s essentially an entirely new staff moving forward.

So, in case you need some help keeping track of all the changes, here’s who’s out and who’s in for 2022.

Panthers make final moves to complete coaching staff

After a bumpy transition into the 2022 offseason, Matt Rhule and the Panthers now have their coaching staff all in place.

Less than 24 hours after the completion of the 2021 NFL season, the Carolina Panthers did a little completing of their own.

As reported by Darin Gantt, Matt Rhule’s revamped coaching staff is now locked in. Three moves—all of which came on the offensive side of the ball—were made official by the team late Monday afternoon.

One of which was the hiring of new wide receivers coach Joe Dailey—a nugget ESPN college football senior writer Pete Thamel noted a few hours prior. Dailey, who most recently headed the wideouts over at Boston College for the past few seasons, will be replacing Frisman Jackson in the role.

Additionally, like Jackson, tight ends coach Brian Angelichio is leaving the organization for an opportunity elsewhere. Kevin Gilbride, a defensive analyst for Carolina in 2021 and the former tight ends coach under offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo back in New York, will now assume those duties.

Lastly, the opening left by assistant offensive line coach Tony Sparano Jr.’s jump to the Giants will be filled by Robert Kugler. The 29-year-old—along with stints at the University of Texas at El Paso, the University of Washington and Appalachian State University—worked under new Panthers offensive line coach James Campen as an assistant with the Houston Texans in 2021.

Panthers reportedly hiring Boston College’s Joe Dailey as new WR coach

Matt Rhule and the Panthers went a little out of the box with an interesting hire for their new wide receivers coach.

When Frisman Jackson moved on out to Pittsburgh, the Carolina Panthers suddenly had yet another void to fill on their fluctuating coaching staff. Well, that void will apparently be filled by a pretty intriguing name.

According to ESPN college football senior writer Pete Thamel, the Panthers are hiring Joe Dailey as their new wide receivers coach.

The 38-year-old has more than a decade’s worth of experience behind the scenes, with his most recent gig coming at Boston College as their wide receivers coach over the past two seasons. Prior to his stop with the Eagles, he headed the quarterback position for Bethune-Cookman University (2011), Liberty University (2012 to 2018) and the University of New Mexico (2019)—having also served as the offensive coordinator for the Flames and Lobos.

And why was he a quarterbacks coach? Because he was a quarterback!

Dailey was recruited as one of the nation’s top dual-threat passers by the University of Nebraska, where he played in 2003 and 2004. The Jersey City, N.J. native then transferred colleges (and positions) to the University of North Carolina, moving from under center to out wide as a receiver for his 2006 junior campaign.

As noted by our buddy John Ellis, Dailey will be the first Panthers wide receivers coach in their 27-year history not to have prior NFL coaching experience.
