Jaylon Johnson dropping yet another pick-6 made Troy Aikman feel bad about even pointing it out

Hey, sometimes, you just call it as you see it.

Monday night’s Chicago Bears and Minnesota Vikings game got so messy that ESPN broadcasters Troy Aikman felt bad about even pointing out a player dropping yet another pick-six on the season.

After Bears cornerback Jaylon Johnson dropped a potential Vikings quarterback Joshua Dobbs pick that could’ve gone back for a score, Aikman recalled how Johnson had a similar missed opportunity against the Detroit Lions the week before.

As he openly wondered if he was being too harsh to even point out Johnson’s mistakes, Buck quipped that he should just do it because everyone will eventually forget about it at the end of the day.

While this recent Johnson misery might not match that time he lost a bet and had to wear a Packers cheesehead, having Aikman and Buck openly discuss if they’re being too harsh about pointing out your repeat mistakes has to burn.

As for Aikman and Buck, this was just a very funny way of just shrugging and just calling it as you see it because, we’ll all just forget about it later.

Joe Buck had an amusing response to Jahmyr Gibbs leaping into the stands to celebrate a Lions TD

“Come back! Jahmyr, come back!”

Detroit Lions running back Jahmyr Gibbs got up close and personal with the fans on Monday Night Football after reaching the end zone.

Indeed, the rookie rusher broke off for a long touchdown run on the Las Vegas Raiders defense in the game’s third quarter and leaped into the stands to celebrate with the Detroit fans in attendance.

Well, he didn’t just leap. He actually got pulled up into the crowd and stood among the Lions fans, who were elated to actually congratulate Gibbs in the moment after he scored the touchdown.

Gibbs’ fellow Lions actually had to go get him from the stands, and play-by-play announcer Joe Buck hilariously asked Gibbs to come back to the game on the broadcast.

Hey, we’re all for unique celebrations, and this just takes the Lambeau Leap the Green Bay Packers do to the next level.

It’s not always a good idea for players to go into the stands during games, but to celebrate a touchdown with your fans, why not?

Just make sure to listen to Buck and come back to the game once the fun is over.

Why Joe Buck isn’t calling the Rangers – Diamondbacks World Series on Fox

Don’t forget, there’s a pretty good reason for this.

It’s World Series time, and if you’re here, you’re probably wondering why broadcasting legend Joe Buck isn’t on the call for Fox for the Fall Classic matchup between the Texas Rangers and Arizona Diamondbacks.

Well, the short answer is because Buck no longer works for Fox, so he’s obviously not part of the network’s World Series broadcasts anymore. Throughout his career, Buck called 24 World Series, but he’s now at ESPN — he has been since March 2022 — and calling Monday Night Football.

For the 2023 World Series, you’ll be hearing Joe Davis doing the play-by-play with John Smoltz analyzing, along with Ken Rosenthal and Tom Verducci reporting.

Last year, Buck noted that it was the first time since he was 18 years old that he wasn’t on the call for baseball. Via Awful Announcing:

“This is the first time since I was 18-years-old, and I’m 53, that I’m not doing a baseball game. And that’s really weird to me, but I walk away really proud of what I and we did. It’s time for somebody else, it’s time for somebody else to put their voice to it, and I’m glad to get out of the way for Joe and watch him do it because he’ll be great.”

The good, bad and ugly after Vikings 22-17 win vs. 49ers

The Vikings notched a major upset on Monday over the 49ers 22-17. Chris Spooner looks at the good, bad, and ugly from the game.

The Minnesota Vikings got a big win over the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night with a 22-17 victory. It got interesting towards the end, but the Vikings ultimately survived and handed the 49ers their second straight loss. With the win, the Vikings move to 3-4 on the season and have their first winning streak of the season.

More importantly, they’re only one game out of .500, and just got a win over one of the best teams in the NFC — and the NFL as a whole. In a season where a lot has gone wrong for the team, a win like this can be a catalyst towards recovery.

Minnesota was able to do exactly what they need to in order to pull off the upset. They made enough big plays on defense, created enough pressure and confusion for young quarterback Brock Purdy, and were able to get guys to step up in a big way in some big spots. Overall, it was a great team win with a lot of good things to highlight.

But, as with any game in the NFL, it wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows. There were plenty of areas in which the Vikings weren’t at their best. With that in mind, let’s look at the good, bad and ugly from the Monday night win over San Francisco.

Joe Buck and Troy Aikman appear to avoid saying Taylor Swift’s name during Seahawks blowout

He was right though! That snoozer needed more Taylor Swift!

You know what? I’m on Troy Aikman’s side here!

The Monday Night Football analyst was like all of us, getting bored watching the Seattle Seahawks completely dismantle the New York Giants 24-3 in Week 4. So with only a few minutes left in the fourth quarter and coming out of a commercial break, Aikman asked his longtime broadcasting partner Joe Buck, “You know what this game needs?”

Buck replied, “Don’t say it.”

Their back-and-forth didn’t mention Taylor Swift once, but c’mon. They’re talking about the story that has burned up the interwebs for two weeks straight.

It was really funny and made for good TV, which is what you can ask for with 5:26 left in a laugher:

A Steelers punt returner catching a bad punt inbounds cost his team great field positioning

“Feet too good.”

Sometimes, it’s better not to touch the ball when you’re on special teams.

That’s the hard lesson Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Gunner Olszewski learned on Monday Night Football game against the Cleveland Browns.

After the Browns kicked a field goal, the ensuing kickoff went hurling out of bounds before it reached the end zone.

That would’ve given the Steelers great field position on their side of the field, but Olszewski made a bit too good of a play on the ball to keep it inbounds.

NFL fans couldn’t believe the Steelers snagged a pick-six on the Browns on the first play of the game

The wideout made a really nice toe-tapping catch on the sideline on the Cleveland punt, which put the Steelers ball at around their own 9-yard line. If Olszewski had just let the punt go, the ball would’ve been on the 40.

“Feet too good,” ESPN broadcaster Joe Buck joked about the catch during his discussion of the special teams snafu.

Hey, we’re all human, and Olszewski was clearly trying to make some play on the ball there he felt was important. However, his heads-up play ended up costing the Steelers a lot of yardage.

Joe Buck cast some serious shade at ESPN for recent layoffs ahead of making NFL broadcast history

Joe Buck wasn’t afraid to give ESPN a little grief ahead of making history with Troy Aikman.

As he’s continuing on in his second season with ESPN as its Monday Night Football play-by-play announcer, Joe Buck poked at his newish employer for its recent employee layoffs.

ESPN cut many notable figures from its broadcast team this past summer, including longtime NFL fixtures like Suzy Kolber and Todd McShay.

Buck and his longtime booth partner Troy Aikman are now two of the network’s more notable NFL broadcasters, and Buck spoke about Monday night’s big milestone with Aikman in an interview with YES Network on Monday.

On Monday night during the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets game broadcast, Buck and Aikman are set to break the record for most consecutive seasons for an NFL broadcasting tandem, a benchmark previously set by John Madden and Pat Summerall.

Well, Buck wasn’t afraid to give his new network a little flak for recently laying off so many employees while discussing he and Aikman’s impressive achievement.

“I think we only break the record if we finish the year. So, we haven’t broken it yet,” Buck said in the interview about the pending record. “It’s ESPN. We could be fired tomorrow.”

Ouch. That’s a heater from Buck, one that ESPN probably doesn’t enjoy hearing on the eve of a historical moment for NFL broadcasting.

However, Buck probably feels pretty safe with his new gig that he can get away with throwing a little shade at the sports entertainment network. If there’s one thing we know, it’s that ESPN can take it.

Joe Buck weighs in on Commanders owner Josh Harris’ viral handshake on MNF

Troy Aikman also weighs in.

During the second quarter of Monday night’s preseason game between the Washington Commanders and Baltimore Ravens on ESPN, new Washington owner Josh Harris joined Joe Buck and Troy Aikman for an interview.

The interview featured an awkward moment between Buck and Harris. As Buck was talking, gesturing with his hands, his hand was out in a position that looked like he was wanting to shake Harris’ hand.

Harris saw Buck’s hand and quickly shook it. Then, pulls his hand back and puts both hands on his hips. Buck just kept the conversation going.

Aikman, meanwhile, notices the handshake and does his best not to laugh.

The handshake went viral on social media.

Thanks to Jimmy Traina of Sports Illustrated, Buck and Aikman have now weighed in on the handshake.

“For the record, ANY time a billionaire wants to shake my hand, I’m in,” said Buck per SI. “He’s a great guy. We were at a wedding together last year for a mutual friend, so I knew him a little. There’s a lot of stuff flying around that booth when a game is happening. So he was probably a little nervous. It was a fun interview with a man who has totally changed the feel around an entire organization in a month. Good for him.”

Aikman’s response was as we expected.

“I knew Joe was hand-gesturing, and then I caught Josh shaking his hand,” Aikman said. “I thought it was really funny but tried not to react knowing we were on camera.”

Harris was in the booth during a Washington scoring drive, so he was a little bit excited. Since taking over as owner last month, Harris has done all the right things, mingling with fans, signing autographs, buying them beer, taking pictures and more.

Fans are just happy to see Harris speaking publicly and engaging the fan base after 24 years of Daniel Snyder.

Troy Aikman could barely contain his laughter after Commanders owner Josh Harris awkwardly shook Joe Buck’s hand

Josh Harris definitely misread the social cues on this one.

We all misread social cues. It’s part of the human experience to be awkward, after all. Unfortunately, Josh Harris’ awkward blunder was broadcast to the wider sports world and was instantly turned into a meme.

During a preseason Monday Night Football game, new Washington Commanders owner Harris took to the broadcast booth to hang out with Joe Buck and Troy Aikman during the team’s contest against the Baltimore Ravens. During his visit to the booth, Harris randomly shook Buck’s hand as the broadcaster was gesticulating, causing an awkward moment as no one acknowledged the gaffe.

Aikman, however, could barely contain his laughter as Harris awkwardly returned his hands to his hips in an attempt to play off the handshake.

Awkward moments happen to the best of us, but wow that is rough to watch. Aikman’s attempt to hold back a laugh is the best part of the exchange, for sure.

NFL fans, however, could not hold back their jokes after Harris awkwardly shook Buck’s hand during Monday Night Football.
