Auburn RB commit J’Marion Burnette is open to other schools

Burnette had previously announced that his recruitment was shut down.

[autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag] has been committed to Auburn since March 24 and had previously announced his recruitment was shut down but things between him and the Tigers have clearly changed.

He took to social media Wednesday night to announce that his “recruitment is 100% open still committed to auburn just opened to options!”

Burnette, a four-star prospect, is Auburn’s only commit at running back in the 2024 recruiting class but would be joining a crowded running back room on the Plains. The Tigers could have all five scholarship running backs return next season and [autotag]Jarquez Hunter[/autotag], [autotag]Brian Battie[/autotag], [autotag]Damari Alston[/autotag] and [autotag]Jeremiah Cobb[/autotag] have already proven they can be productive players and deserve touches.

Burnette is the No. 255 overall player and No. 18 running back in the 247Sports composite ranking. The Andalusia native is also the No. 14 player from Alabama.

Checking in at 6-foot-1 and 214 pounds, Burnette is a big, physical back who is at his best running between the tackles. He has been limited by an injury in his senior season and has played in just six games.

Auburn has been looking to add a second running back to the class and two of their top targets have been Clemson commit David Eziomume and Miami commit Kevin Riley but with Auburn’s expected depth they could end up without a running back and instead focus on 2025 target Alvin Henderson.

CB commit A’mon Lane locks in official visit to Auburn

He saved his official visit for the best game of the season.

[autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag] has been committed to Auburn since July of last year but the four-star cornerback has yet to officially visit the Plains.

That will change soon as the Moody, Alabama product has scheduled his official visit for the Iron Bowl on Nov. 25 He won’t be the only Auburn commit in town to watch the Tigers take on Alabama, Auburn’s running back commit [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag] has already announced he will also be officially visiting that weekend.

Lane actually committed to Auburn under the previous staff but with [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] retaining secondary coach [autotag]Zac Etheridge[/autotag], Lane never wavered in his commitment.

Lane is the No. 361 overall player and No. 27 cornerback in the 247Sports composite ranking. He is also the No. 19 player from Alabama.

He has missed most of his senior season after suffering an injury but is working to try and return for the playoffs for Moody High School.

Auburn RB commit J’Marion Burnette sets official visit

Auburn’s prized running back commit will be back on the Plains for the Iron Bowl.

[autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag] has been committed to Auburn since March and while he has visited several times since then, he has held off on scheduling his official visit.

That is no longer the case as the four-star running back has set his official visit for Nov. 25, the weekend Auburn will host Alabama for the Iron Bowl.

Burnette is the No. 255 overall player and No. 18 running back in the 247Sports composite ranking. The Andalusia product is also the No. 14 player from Alabama.

While an injury has limited him during his senior year, Burnette has been unstoppable the past two weeks for Andalusia High School. He has rushed for 336 total yards and five touchdowns on just 28 carries, good enough for an insane 12 yards per carry.

Tracking the Tigers: Several Auburn commits shine in Week 3

Jalewis Solomon, Walker White and Joseph Phillips all had great games.

Auburn has one of the top recruiting classes in the country and their commits continue to perform like it.

Several of Auburn’s commits had massive performances in Week 3, including quarterback pledge [autotag]Walker White[/autotag] who bounced back from a disappointing Week 2 in dominant fashion. His team didn’t pick up the win, but [autotag]Joseph Phillips[/autotag] continued his sensational senior season.

While they had big games, the top performer from last week’s action is [autotag]Jalewis Solomon[/autotag]. He scored touchdowns on both sides of the ball and continued to show why Auburn’s staff worked so hard to land him.

Stats have not yet been released for [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag], [autotag]Jayden Lewis[/autotag], [autotag]Martavious Collins[/autotag] and [autotag]D’Angelo Barber[/autotag] but here is a look at how the rest of Auburn’s commits performed last week.

Jalyn Crawford becomes latest 2024 commit to shut down recruitment

The four-star cornerback is “locked in” with Auburn.

[autotag]Jayln Crawford[/autotag]’s commitment to Auburn in July was a turning point for the program.

Crawford became Auburn’s 11th commitment on July 15. At the time, Auburn had the nation’s No. 37 class for the 2024 cycle and was ranked near the bottom of the SEC. Since then, the Tigers have earned four commitments and have climbed to No. 14 in the 247Sports rankings.

Crawford appears to be all-in with his commitment. In a recent interview with Christian Clemente of Auburn Undercover, he says he is “100 percent locked in with Auburn”, thus shutting down his recruitment.

Crawford joins a growing list of 2024 commits in shutting down their recruitment. He follows [autotag]Walker White[/autotag], [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag], [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag], and [autotag]Joseph Phillips[/autotag] in publically announcing their shut down.

Crawford is the No. 15 cornerback for the 2024 class and is the No. 20 overall prospect from the state of Georgia. He is one of eight commitments from the 2024 cycle that is rated four-stars or higher by 247Sports.

Two Auburn commits are prime candidates to win Alabama’s Mr. Football in 2023

Auburn has locked in several of Alabama’s top recruits for the 2024 cycle, two of them are up for the state’s top award.

Auburn has found early success by locking in several of the state of Alabama’s top recruits for the 2024 cycle.

In the latest update from 247Sports, three of the state’s top 10 recruits, and nine of the top 25, are committed to Auburn. Two of those prized commits are considered to be candidates for the state of Alabama’s top award heading into the 2023 season.

Ben Thomas of AL.com recently revealed his top 20 candidates to win Mr. Football for the state of Alabama this season, and two of Auburn’s 2024 commits are in consideration for the postseason award.

The first Auburn commit mentioned is four-star running back [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag]. Burnette is the state’s No. 14 prospect and is poised to have another great season for Andalusia High School.

As a junior, he rushed for 1,473 yards and 17 TDs on 187 carries in just 11 games. He missed Andalusia’s state semifinal and state championship game after suffering a concussion in the quarterfinals. A healthy Burnette should pile up huge rushing statistics again.

Next up is the Tigers’ top commit for the cycle, five-star wide receiver [autotag]Perry Thompson[/autotag]. Thompson flipped his commitment from Alabama to Auburn during Big Cat Weekend in July and looks to finish his high school career in a big way as a two-way player for Clay-Chalkville.

A first-team Class 7A All-State receiver as a junior a year ago, Thompson caught 87 passes for 1,059 yards and 9 TDs for the Region 1 champions. He also had a pair of interceptions on defense and could play more on that side of the ball as a senior.

Although not committed, Auburn target [autotag]Alvin Henderson[/autotag] is also in the mix to win the award. Henderson is a four-star running back for the 2025 class and is the No. 10 player at his position. Last season at Elba, he rushed for over 200 yards per game.

Historically, ten winners of Alabama’s Mr. Football award have signed with Auburn. [autotag]Bo Nix[/autotag] was the last Auburn signee to with the award, doing so in 2019. [autotag]Kerryon Johnson[/autotag], [autotag]Cadillac Williams[/autotag], [autotag]Demarco McNeil[/autotag], and [autotag]Brandon Cox[/autotag] are other notable Auburn players to win the award.

Auburn RB target Nate Frazier locks in commitment date

Auburn is in the hunt to land Nate Frazier, the No. 10 running back in the 2024 class.

In addition to four-star running back [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag], [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and his staff hope to add one more running back to the 2024 signing class. One of their top targets plans to announce his commitment in the coming days.

[autotag]Nate Frazier[/autotag], a four-star running back from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, tells Greg Biggins of 247Sports that he plans to announce his college destination on Sunday, Aug. 6, at 2 p.m. CT.

Frazier included Auburn in his top eight list released on July 11. Included in the mix are Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, Oregon, Nebraska, Tennessee and Miami.

How much of a chance does Auburn have at landing his commitment? In a recent interview with Biggins, Frazier says that Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M and Oregon are the programs that have the best shot.

According to experts at 247Sports, Georgia is the front-runner. The Bulldogs have received three crystal ball predictions for Frazier since July 20. Frazier is set to take an official visit to Georgia during the weekend of Sept. 15.

“It works out perfectly because we have a bye that weekend and Georgia is hosting South Carolina,” Frazier tells 247Sports. “I can’t wait. I’ve been up to Georgia a lot, but never for a game. I know the atmosphere is going to be crazy, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Frazier is the No. 4 running back in the 2024 class and is the No. 4 overall prospect from the state of California.

Big Cat preview: Here are this year’s top 10 attendees

This weekend’s event will be the biggest in several years.

The biggest recruiting weekend is here.

A wealth of talent from across the country will be on The Plains this weekend to attend Big Cat Weekend, which will be a crucial time for [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and staff as they build their roster for the future.

Many members of Auburn’s 2024 commitments will be there , including [autotag]Walker White[/autotag], [autotag]Joseph Phillips[/autotag], [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag] and [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag].

Those players have publicly announced they have shut down their recruitment in an effort to help the coaching staff recruit players to join them at Auburn. This weekend will be a great measuring stick to see just how good their recruiting efforts are.

There will be plenty of talented players on campus this weekend, some are even committed to other programs.

Here’s a look at the top recruits who are scheduled to visit Big Cat Weekend.

Joseph Phillips shuts down his recruitment

Phillips, like so many others in the 2024 class, is honoring his commitment to Auburn by focusing solely on the Tigers going forward.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] has been determined to boost Auburn’s recruiting since taking over the program.

[autotag]Joseph Phillips[/autotag] is the latest Auburn commitment to shut down his recruitment. In an Auburn Undercover article written by Christian Clemente, Phillips explained what went into his decision.

“It’s going good,” Phillips said on Auburn’s recruiting. “I feel like with me committing and then you’ve got other big-time people committed, everybody now is like ‘Auburn is the move.’ It’s not like they ain’t have no 4- or 5-stars committed. Now they’ve got the dogs committed, everybody else is trying to come.”

Big Cat Weekend, one of Auburn’s biggest recruiting events is coming up and Phillips is thinking it will go well.

“I feel like Big Cat Weekend they going to really put their best foot forward,” Phillips said. “Like you said, there’s going to be a lot of big-time people in so I feel like it’s going to be one of the best experiences I had just going up there. You’ve got a chance to chill, talk with the players and coaches and get other people that ain’t committed a chance to see what that’s like behind the scenes.”

Phillips is a four-star recruit with a 0.9421 composite rating according to 247Sports. He is the No. 132 player nationally, the No. 9 edge rusher, and the No. 8 player in the state of Alabama. He joins fellow commits such as [autotag]Walker White[/autotag], [autotag]A’Mon Lane[/autotag], and [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag] in shutting down his recruitment.

Auburn offers 4-star RB and Louisville commit Duke Watson

Auburn is looking to add a second running back to its 2024 recruiting class.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and the rest of Auburn’s staff are not afraid to attempt and flip a recruit who is committed elsewhere.

On Friday [autotag]Cadillac Williams[/autotag] extended an offer to four-star running back [autotag]Duke Watson[/autotag], who committed to Louisville on June 11.

Williams has already landed one of his top targets in four-star running back [autotag]J’Marion Burnette[/autotag] but the Tigers are looking for a second running back to pair with him and Watson fits the bill.

Checking in at 6-feet-1 and 180-pounds, he would be the speed back while Burnetter is a bruiser.

Watson is the No. 443 overall player and No. 35 running back in the 247Sports Recruiting ranking. The Forsyth, Georgia native is also the No. 50 player from the Peach State.

He rushed for 3,385 yards and 39 touchdowns over the past two seasons for Mary Persons High School. He averaged 7.9 yards per carry and rushed for over 100 yards in 17 of his 22 games.
