2022 defensive end prospect Jimmy Scott committed to Tennessee on Aug. 16, 2020.

The Vols initially offered Scott on March 31, 2020.

He decommitted from the Vols on Jan. 20, two days following Jeremy Pruitt being relieved of his head coaching duties at Tennessee.

Scott has since provided an update on his recruiting process, listing the Vols within his top-20 offers.

The 6-foot-3, 255-pound Hamburg, New York native is from St. Francis High School.

 

Josh Heupel was hired as the Vols’ head coach on Jan. 27. He has since hired Tim Banks as Tennessee’s defensive coordinator.

The Vols currently do not have a commitment for its 2022 recruiting class.

Tennessee suffers decommitment in 2022 class

The University of Tennessee has suffered a decommitment in its 2022 football recruiting class.

Defensive end Jimmy Scott announced his decommitment from the Vols on Wednesday.

He committed to Tennessee in August.

“After many conversations with my parents, I have made the decision to decommit from the University of Tennessee, and re-oopen my recruitment,” Scott said.

The 2022 prospect if from St. Francis High School in Hamburg, New York.

At the time of his commitment, Scott had Power Five offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Boston College, Duke, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse and Texas A&M.

KNOXVILLE — Jimmy Scott announced his commitment to Tennessee on Sunday.

Scott is the Vols first commitment to its 2022 recruiting class.

The 2022 prospect if from St. Francis High School in Hamburg, New York. He has Power Five offers from Arizona State, Arkansas, Boston College, Duke, Illinois, Maryland, Michigan State, Minnesota, North Carolina State, Ole Miss, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse and Texas A&M.

He is listed as the No. 29 overall defensive end in the 2022 recruiting class per 247Sports and the No. 2 player in New York.

The Vols initially offered Scott on March 31, right after the coronavirus pandemic canceled spring athletics.

Michigan State Football has not paused on recruiting efforts one bit. Instead, the Spartans are looking ahead to the 2022 class and beyond with offers. Now, 2022 SDE Jimmy Scott has announced he received an offer from MSU Football.

Jimmy Scott stands at 6-foot-3 and weighs 250-pounds. He hails from Hamburg, NY, where he currently plays for St. Francis High School.

He is not currently ranked but this will likely change. Especially since he was just highlighted as a “Player To Watch” by the local news in Buffalo, New York.
