How should we grade the seasons of Coby White, Jevon Carter, and Torrey Craig with the Chicago Bulls in 2023-24? The trio of Bulls players may not have collectively had the season with the Bulls we had hoped they would, but there are things to point to for all three among positives and negatives both.

White perhaps out of all of them had the best individual season in terms of results and growth, but Craig and Carter had flashes as well when healthy. To talk it over on a recent episode of their show, the hosts of the “Locked On Bulls” podcast, Haize and Pat the Designer, took some time to dive into their respective play in Chicago’s 2023-24 campaign.

They also compare the short-term future of the Bulls with the Chicago Sky.

Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear their thoughts on White, Craig, and Carter with the Bulls this season.

Several Chicago Bulls get updated overall player ratings for NBA 2K24

And despite how this season has been going might make you think, they are mostly for the better!

The NBA has put the All-Star Game and All-Star Week festivities behind them as the Chicago Bulls and the rest of the league gears up for the stretch run. But there is at least one other annual update to consider for fans of the video game version of the Association.

The folks who keep the NBA 2K franchise running smoothly and up-to-date on the state of the play (and players) of the league have updated overall player ratings around the Association. Those updates include a number of players on the Chicago Bulls roster (and most of them are for good), reflecting internal development on the team.

So, with that in mind, let’s take a look at which Bulls saw their player ratings change with the new update.

Should Chicago’s Jevon Carter be a Los Angeles Lakers trade target?

Carter could indeed be a sneaky-good low-cost trade target for the Lakers, but they should not expect to pick him up for free or close to it.

Should Chicago Bulls veteran guard Jevon Carter be a Los Angeles Lakers trade target? According to Bleacher Report NBA analyst Zach Buckley, the Lakers may want to consider it even if they are officially out on dealing for another Bulls guard, star Chicago wing Zach LaVine.

Noting that the team is after a point of attack defender via reporting from Chris Haynes (also of Bleacher Report), Buckley wrote that a “Jevon Carter trade would check that box. The 28-year-old has had a disappointing debut with the Chicago Bulls (which could bump his trade cost into the bargain bin), but just last season, he was giving the championship-chasing Milwaukee Bucks a solid 22.3 minutes of action per night.”

“He is a tireless defender who stays glued to his matchup the full 94 feet of the court,” adds the B/R analyst. “Opponents are never comfortable when he hits the hardwood.”

Carter could indeed be a sneaky-good low-cost trade target for the Lakers, but they should not expect to pick him up for free or close to it.

A solid second-round pick plus salary ballast would likely be the starting point — and those defensive skills ought to have Carter in demand among expensive contenders, so there could even be competition for his services.

Bulls veteran point guard listed as potential Lakers trade target

Chicago Bulls point guard Jevon Carter was recently listed as a potential Los Angeles Lakers trade target.

Heading into the February 8 trade deadline, the Chicago Bulls are going to be a top team to watch. Zach LaVine is by far the biggest name likely to be on the move, as the team is reportedly still focused on finding a trade for him. They want to move on from his contract and reload.

However, while LaVine will be the top guy being thrown around in trade rumors, the Bulls have some other veterans on the roster who could be candidates, too. Torrey Craig is hurt, but he would be an obvious target for contenders, and the same can be said for Jevon Carter (though he’s not injured).

Dan Favale of Bleacher Report recently listed Carter as a potential trade target for the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the deadline.

“Give this group a dominant defense again, and suddenly it won’t have to climb as high offensively to be a potential problem in the postseason,” Favale wrote. “The front office seemingly recognizes as much, as B/R’s Chris Haynes relayed that a “point-of-attack defender” is on the club’s wish list.

A Jevon Carter trade would check that box. The 28-year-old has had a disappointing debut with the Chicago Bulls (which could bump his trade cost into the bargain bin), but just last season, he was giving the championship-chasing Milwaukee Bucks a solid 22.3 minutes of action per night. He is a tireless defender who stays glued to his matchup the full 94 feet of the court. Opponents are never comfortable when he hits the hardwood.”

Adding Carter’s defense and ball-handling would give the Lakers a huge boost at the point guard position.

3 backup guards that make sense for Thunder at trade deadline

3 backup guards that make sense for Thunder at the trade deadline.

Sitting at 27-11 and tied for first place in the Western Conference standings, the Oklahoma City Thunder approach the Feb. 8 trade deadline as buyers for the first time in several years.

The Thunder have broken open a contention window led by MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams round out one of the league’s best trios.

While OKC is not expected to make any blockbuster deals, expect it to possibly make minor upgrades to improve its depth heading into its first playoff appearance since 2020.

Thunder general manager Sam Presti can strengthen the backup guard spots. Vasilije Micic has found a bit of a groove recently, but there is always a need for playmakers.

That is not necessarily an urgent need. The Thunder roll deep in guard depth with Gilgeous-Alexander, Josh Giddey, Lu Dort, Isaiah Joe and Cason Wallace manning the top five spots. The emergence of Williams as a playmaker also makes it less of a need.

However, contenders can never have too much guard depth. If the deal makes sense, OKC can make improvements on the margins.

The Thunder have plenty of draft capital and young prospects to facilitate any type of deal. Scouring through the league, let’s look at three bench guard options OKC could add.

Mock trade sees Bulls flip Zach LaVine for 4-time NBA champion

In this mock trade, the Chicago Bulls would send Zach LaVine to the Golden State Warriors for Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins.

As the season rolls on, the Chicago Bulls are going to be a team to watch when it comes to trade talks. While they may have overcome their rough start to the season, they should still be looking to reset the roster, as they aren’t equipped to compete with the top teams in the Eastern Conference.

Zach LaVine has been one of the biggest names thrown around in trade rumors, and the Bulls are reportedly focused on trying to find a trade for him. Josh Buckhalter of Heavy.com recently threw out a trade idea that would see the Bulls ship him off to the Golden State Warriors.

In the deal, the Bulls would get back Draymond Green and Andrew Wiggins.

Here’s the full outline of the proposed trade:

Bulls receive: Draymond Green, Andrew Wiggins

Warriors receive: Zach LaVine, Jevon Carter, 2028 first-round pick

Buckhalter believes this deal would help the Bulls improve on defense while making the Warriors younger.

“This package offers the Warriors a chance to get younger and improve their three-point shooting,” Buckhalter wrote. “The Bulls, meanwhile, could lean into their defensive identity with championship-level players.”

LaVine has been hurt for weeks, but when healthy, he’s a great shot-creator and a two-time All-Star.

That said, despite Green’s struggles with suspensions this season, his loyalty to the Warriors organization, and vice versa, make it unlikely that a trade would ever go down.

In addition, with Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Chris Paul already on the roster, trading for another high-level guard doesn’t seem to be the best course of action should the Warriors decide to ditch Green.

Bulls still figuring out starting point guard spot despite Coby White start

Coby White started the Chicago Bulls’ preseason game vs. the Milwaukee Bucks, but no decision has been made yet on the full-time starter.

As the preseason gets underway, head coach Billy Donovan will have his work cut out for him. The Chicago Bulls should always be rolling out Zach LaVine, DeMar DeRozan, and Nikola Vucevic, but past that, the other two starting spots could be up for grabs. The race for the starting point guard spot, in particular, could be an interesting battle to watch.

Chicago signed Jevon Carter this summer in free agency, but they also re-signed Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu to new contracts. All three have a case to be the team’s full-time starting one, but in the Bulls’ first preseason game against the Milwaukee Bucks, White got the nod.

That said, head coach Billy Donovan made it clear that none of the three have gotten a step up on the others. (H/t Julia Poe of the Chicago Tribune)

“To say that, ‘Hey, listen, this guy really separated himself’ — I don’t think that happened,” Donovan said. “Really all three of those guys played well.”

White earned the most minutes of the three against Milwaukee, playing 22:53 to Carter’s 16:15 and Dosunmu’s 14:08. He put up 14 points, six rebounds, six assists, and two steals while shooting 6-of-10 from the field and 2-of-5 from beyond the arc.

Carter ended the game with eight points, two rebounds, and two assists on 3-of-7 and 1-of-4 shooting, while Dosunmu finished with eight points, two rebounds, and two assists on 3-of-8 and 2-of-4 shooting.

If the Bulls are looking for more of a defensive presence, Carter or Dosunmu could be the more logical choice, but White would provide them with a bit more offensive shot creation.

Donovan will probably take the rest of the preseason to make his decision, and it will certainly be one of the more interesting storylines heading into the regular season.

3 Reasons Chicago Bulls should start Jevon Carter at point guard

This is why the Chicago Bulls should roll with Jevon Carter as their starting point guard.

The Chicago Bulls‘ point guard position has been in question for a while now. Ever since Lonzo Ball went down with an injury 35 games into his Bulls tenure, Chicago hasn’t had a definitive answer at the one. They’ve tested out some different options, but none of them have stuck long-term.

This summer, they brought in veteran point guard Jevon Carter, who is slated to help the Bulls on both ends of the court. The Bulls signed the Chicago native to a three-year deal after a career year with the Milwaukee Bucks last season, and he should play big-time minutes for them this year.

But with guys like Coby White, Ayo Dosunmu, and Alex Caruso in town, the starting job is up for grabs. That said, here are three reasons Carter should be the Bulls’ starting point guard next year.

What will Jevon Carter bring to the Chicago Bulls?

The Chicago Bulls brought in Jevon Carter this summer, but what will he bring to the team?

The Chicago Bulls made some serious moves this summer. On the surface, their team looks very similar to last year, but a deeper dive shows that their depth chart is much better. After a season full of disappointment and underachieving, they added some much-needed defense and 3-point shooting.

In free agency, the Bulls signed Jevon Carter and Torrey Craig, both of whom will raise the floor of the current Chicago team. Carter, in particular, is slated to take over as a starter, hopefully improving the team’s point guard position, which has been a question mark since Lonzo Ball went down with an injury.

During a recent edition of the “Bulls Talk” podcast on NBC Sports Chicago, they discussed what Carter will bring to the team.

What are you looking forward to most about Carter?

Bulls announce jersey number for newcomer Jevon Carter

The Bulls announced Jevon Carter’s new jersey number on social media Thursday morning.

[anyclip pubname=”2123″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8170″]

Chicago Bulls guard Jevon Carter will wear No. 5 this season, the team announced on social media. Carter also donned No. 5 during his two seasons with the Milwaukee Bucks. The number was last worn by a Bull in 2023 by Derrick Jones Jr.

Carter’s arrival in Chicago is an important one. By some assessments, it was one of the shrewdest moves made this offseason across the NBA. Carter signed a three-year, $19.5 million contract with the Bulls, giving the team a player with plenty of upside to fill out the club’s guard rotation. Carter averaged 8 points and 2.4 assists in Milwaukee last season while logging 39 starts. He also shot 42.3% from the floor and 42.1% from deep.

Expect Carter to fill a similar role for the Bulls this season. Behind Alex Caruso and Zach LaVine, Carter is a logical choice to serve as primary ballhandler when needed. That No. 5 jersey could see even more action should any injuries or trades pop up.
