Predicting the Saints’ depth chart on defense to open training camp

Predicting the Saints’ depth chart on defense to open training camp: Starters, backups, and reserves at every position group

There’s a surprising amount of intrigue surrounding the New Orleans Saints defense as they prepare for their 2023 training camp; the strength of the team, the defense saw massive turnover in free agency and the departure of several highly-regarded assistants in the spring. They need to show they’re still a unit the team can lean on whenever the offense is off its game.

That starts in training camp. Here’s our take on what the initial depth chart may look like on defense as players arrive and begin to hit the practice field:

37 players are locks for Saints’ 53-man roster heading into training camp

Barring something unforeseen, these 37 players should be seen as locks for the New Orleans Saints’ 53-man roster heading into training camp:

Every player on the New Orleans Saints’ 90-man roster is going into training camp with different goals in mind. Some of them are looking to build off of last year’s success, some will be hoping to bounce back from a disappointing season, and others are just hoping to stay healthy and get a fair shot at making the cut in September.

At the end of the day only 53 roster spots will be available, and a good chunk of them are already accounted for. These 37 players should be seen as locks to make the team:

Some of the best players in NFL history have worn a Kansas City Chiefs jersey during the course of their careers.

Our friends at Touchdown Wire recently took a look at the best players in NFL (and AFL) history to wear every jersey number. It inspired us to take a look at Kansas City’s history and track down the best player to wear each respective jersey number.

The best Saints player to wear each jersey number

Some picks were easy, and some were challenging. Here are the best New Orleans Saints players to ever wear each jersey number:

It’s been tough for the New Orleans Saints to find consistent success throughout the team’s history, but they’ve never lacked for fan-favorite talent. Individual standouts have always given fans someone to cheer for, and in many cases it’s easy to sort out the best player to wear each jersey number.

Some decisions (Drew Brees and Archie Manning are the last players to have worn Nos. 8 and 9, which are unofficially retired) were easier than others (Fan-favorite running back Pierre Thomas or Pro Bowl cornerback Marshon Lattimore for No. 23? Which jersey number should we pick for Mark Ingram II?), but that’s the nature of the beast.

From No. 1 to 99, here’s a look at the best Saints to wear each number for New Orleans:

7 Chiefs named as best player to wear their respective jersey number

From Patrick Mahomes to Buck Buchanan, the #Chiefs had several greats make @TheNFLWire’s list of the best pro football players to wear every jersey number.

Jersey numbers have always been synonymous with greatness in the Kansas City Chiefs franchise. For that reason, they’re one of just a few NFL clubs with over 10 retired jersey numbers. No one will wear those numbers again in Kansas City, without expressed permission from the club.

A few of those retired jersey numbers appeared on a recent list from Touchdown Wire’s Doug Farrar, naming the best pro football player to wear every NFL jersey number. Only one active Chiefs player made the list, but six franchise legends also joined him.

Which players made the cut for Farrar? Here’s a quick look at each down below.

Temporary jersey numbers revealed for Patriots’ rookies

Here are the temporary numbers for the Patriots’ 2023 rookies.

The New England Patriots have revealed the temporary jersey numbers for their rookies ahead of the open portion of voluntary OTAs, which is slated to start on Thursday.

Earlier on Wednesday, the team revealed the jersey numbers for veteran acquisitions throughout the offseason, along with current roster players that changed their number from last season.

They followed that up with the randomly assigned numbers typically handed out to rookies in their first big practice session.

Those numbers will obviously change down the road as the NFL newbies settle into their respective roles for the team. But for now, here are the jersey numbers for the Patriots’ rookies at OTAs:

The 2023 season is starting to feel a bit more real with all of the newly-signed New England Patriots players officially being given jersey numbers on Wednesday.

It came through in a reveal from the team’s social media account.

The Patriots have already started voluntary OTAs, but those practices have been closed to reporters. That will change on Thursday, however, with the team finally set to open their doors and give people a sneak peek of what’s happening behind the curtains.

For now, here are the jersey numbers for the Patriots’ 2023 veteran acquisitions:
