The Philadelphia Eagles made history on Saturday by drafting the son of one of its best-ever defensive players.

In the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, the Eagles drafted Clemson linebacker Jeremiah Trotter Jr., the son of former Eagles linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.

The elder Trotter started his career with the Eagles in 1998 and played there through 2001, later making a return in 2004 and playing there through 2006. He also spent his final season in 2009 with Philadelphia.

Now, the younger Trotter will start his professional career where his dad made his legacy.

With news of the pick, the Eagles shared a heartwarming photo of both Trotters on the field, Trotter Jr. just a baby wearing an Eagles beanie.

That’s just adorable.

Just like the Pittsburgh Steelers drafted Joey Porter’s son, Joey Porter Jr., in last year’s draft, the Eagles paid tribute to their franchise history in such a neat way during Saturday’s last day of the 2024 NFL Draft.

On Saturday, Roseman kept his word, trading up to select Jeremiah Trotter with pick No. 155 of the 2024 NFL draft.

After watching elite linebackers dominate the AFC and NFC divisional rounds, Eagles GM Howie Roseman finally landed a talented and rangy linebacker.

Clemson’s All-American defender is the son of former Philadelphia linebacker Jeremiah Trotter.

In 2022, Trotter Jr. had 91 tackles, 6.5 sacks, 8.5 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, two interceptions, and a forced fumble.

His 88 tackles (54 solo), 5½ sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles made him a Butkus Award finalist this season.

There were a few contributors, but only Diggs stands out as a true game-changer.

Williams and Schoonmaker are too early to call, but none of the others were selections the team would make in a redraft. More often than not Dallas nails their first rounder, but they need more out of the other Top 60 pick.
