Jeopardy contestant heartbreakingly missed a win by 1 letter in Final Jeopardy

Oh no!

Ooooooffff this hurts the most.

Just like a mispronunciation on Wheel of Fortune is tough to watch, the same goes here on Jeopardy!

Mehal was in the Tournament of Champions quarterfinal with a chance to move on, but one letter prevented him from winning.

The Final Jeopardy on Thursday was Latin Phrases, with this clue: “After Camillagate, a fire at Windsor Castle & marriage problems in her family, Queen Elizabeth II dubbed 1992 this.”

The answer? That would be What is annus horribilis?

And Mehal nailed it … except he missed an “i” in “horribilis.” And that doomed him. He was eliminated. What a bummer.

Why a Jeopardy contestant hilariously walked off after whiffing on Celine Dion clue

What a reaction!

Drew Goins continues to entertain us on Jeopardy!

After the contestant got so excited to nail a Taylor Swift clue after missing one after his first time he was on, this time he whiffed on a Celine Dion clue … after he thanked the singer on the air during his Q&A with Ken Jennings.

MORE JEOPARDY: Contestants totally failed an easy Super Bowl Final Jeopardy

As you’ll see, the clue was: “Sharing its title with an earlier more upbeat Huey Lewis hit, it was No. 1 for Celine Dion in 1994.”

Drew couldn’t remember the answer: “What is The Power of Love?”

So what did he do? He walked off the stage. Perfect reaction!

A Jeopardy! contestant was so excited to get a Taylor Swift question right after missing one about her

Nailed it this time!

Shoutout to Drew Goins.

He’s the contestant who appeared on Jeopardy! previously and missed on a Taylor Swift clue (and we love Taylor Swift clues!). And as the journalist from Honolulu noted on Monday’s episode, he had kicked himself for missing the Swift clue the last time out — especially because his brother prepped a practice board with ALL Taylor Swift clues on it.

And that’s hilarious, because he got this clue that night under “Albums”: In 2014, Taylor Swift gave us this album named for a different year.”

Guess who rang in and nailed it? DREW!

Jeopardy contestants totally failed an easy Super Bowl Final Jeopardy

This seemed fairly easy.

OK, no offense to these brilliant Jeopardy! contestants, who are smart about all kinds of topics, but we’ve seen sports categories be a blind spot in years past.

But from where I’m sitting, Thursday’s Final Jeopardy clue was a layup.

MORE JEOPARDY: A Travis Kelce Jeopardy clue has a funny Taylor Swift twist

“It’s the only team to play in the Super Bowl before Neil Armstrong’s moon walk that has not been back to the big game since,” it read. Contestants swung and missed with guesses like the Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans and New York Giants.

And as you guessed, it was … the New York Jets! Just another rough one for Jets fans this week.

Joe Mazzulla really doesn’t care that his love for The Town became a Jeopardy! question

Well then!

Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla might love the movie The Town, but he doesn’t seem all that moved by that being the inspiration for a Jeopardy! prompt.

After Mazzulla’s habit for watching the Ben Affleck-directed Boston crime movie was featured on the long-running game show this week, the Celtics coach shrugged it off when asked about it.

“I could care less,” Mazzulla told reporters about the Jeopardy! moment before leaving the press table.

“What is a firm response?” would be the winning answer for any Jeopardy! contestant if they saw the Mazzulla clip.

To be fair to Mazzulla, his team dropped a tough one to the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday, so he might not have been in the mood to talk about it. At the least, we probably know what movie he’ll watch to cheer himself up!

A Travis Kelce Jeopardy clue has a funny Taylor Swift twist

This was funny.

It was an easy Jeopardy! clue, a $200 one in the category of “The TV Show in Question,” but it’s still worth highlighting because it made me giggle.

‘Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?”; is hosted by the man who’s maybe more famous as a BF than as a 3-time Super Bowl champ,” it read.

Yep, you knew it the second you saw it, as did the contestant on Wednesday’s edition of the syndicated game show: Who is Travis Kelce?

Some might argue he’s AS famous as a boyfriend to Taylor Swift, but that’s nitpicking.

Here’s that moment from Wednesday’s game:

This Jeopardy! contestant’s story about a serial killer might be the quiz show’s wildest ever

This was … something!

Uhhh, wow.

I’m usually one of those Jeopardy! watchers who doesn’t pay much attention to the personal stories told by contestants (no offense!), but this one? You’re going to want to pay attention.

It starts with Ken Jennings and Amanda, a contestant. He mentions she’s got a story about … a serial killer?

Turns out her middle school hall monitor was a little “off,” and there was a reason for that: he was a serial killer who had bodies buried under his house.

“Welcome to the show, Amanda,” Jennings says with a tinge in his voice that can only be described as “… Wow.”

Same here, Ken!

Jeopardy! contestants struggled mightily with a 21st century sports category

Can you do better than these Jeopardy contestants did? Probably.

To their credit, the contestants on Tuesday’s edition of Jeopardy! got two clues right — one referring to tennis’s U.S. Open and another dealing with Pittsburgh Steelers legend Ben Roethlisberger.

But when it came to three others in the category of 21st century sports? Well, it wasn’t great. Although we’ve seen some success in sports over the years, there have been some big fails with some others who whiffed.

Check out these three clues — one baseball, one college sports, one with a photo of a well-known NBA star — and see if you fare better than these smart people did on Tuesday:

Super Bowl LVIII hero Mecole Hardman appears as answer on “Jeopardy”

Super Bowl LVIII hero Mecole Hardman appeared as an answer on a recent episode of “Jeopardy”

Even in the offseason, the Kansas City Chiefs can’t escape the national spotlight.

This week, Super Bowl LVIII hero Mecole Hardman made a television appearance in his most unconventional manner yet: As an answer on the popular game show Jeopardy.

Check out the interesting question that had Hardman as the answer, and see if you would have guessed it correctly:

While this was hardly Hardman’s biggest break of 2024, it was interesting to see the former Chief featured on a game show that isn’t known for throwing the names of NFL players around often.

Unfortunately, it didn’t seem like the contestants watched Kansas City’s resounding victory over the San Francisco 49ers in February, as the only guess was incorrect.

Hardman might not be a household name among the Jeopardy-watchers of the world, but his inclusion in this broadcast is sure to have those with eidetic memories on the lookout for more Chiefs references in the future.

All 3 Jeopardy! contestants whiffed big on an easy $200 St. Louis Cardinals clue

This was supposed to be the easiest clue!

Avid Jeopardy! fans know that quickly providing the correct answer to a clue can be challenging sometimes from the comfort of your couch and surely assume the pressure is 100 times worse when you’re actually playing the game show. The people on the show are filled with a wealth of knowledge, but they don’t know everything.

So sometimes we can’t help but chuckle when contestants struggle with some clues or categories, especially when it comes to sports.

And Friday’s episode of Jeopardy! provided the latest example of all three contestants being totally stumped by a pretty easy question.

In the opening round of the episode, one of the categories was Meet Me in St. Louis, as J-Archive noted. The $200 question, which is supposed to be the easiest of the category, was the last clue left on the board, and every player missed it. The clue was:

Major League Baseball’s Cardinals play their home games at this sudsy arena

Bryan rang in first and said, “What is Budweiser?” before Erin chimed in with: “What is Anheuser?” The third contestant, Rachel, didn’t guess, so no one had Busch Stadium, which was the correct response.

As host Ken Jennings joked, not a lot of baseball fans in this Jeopardy! episode.
