Jazz at Heat picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 116, Jazz 106

Moneyline

PASS.

The Jazz have lost 7 of their last 8 and aren’t worth a play as a sizable underdog.

Against the spread

BET HEAT -8 (-106).

The Heat have been surging lately, and they have been playing well both at home and on the road. Miami has covered 3 straight home games and 7 straight road games. It has covered as a favorite in 5 straight.

The Jazz haven’t had a similar fate, failing to cover in 5 straight on the road and losing each by at least 8. They allowed at least 115 points in each of those 5 games.

Considering the trends, back HEAT -8 (-106).

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 223.5 (-110).

The Jazz defense has been awful, allowing at least 115 in 8 of their last 9 games. They have allowed at least 129 in 4 of their last 8. The Heat don’t play at a fast pace, but they do have competent shot makers that put pressure on the Utah defense.

Utah is 32-27-1 O/U on the season and have a slew of players that can create and score as well. The Heat have scored at least 115 in 4 of their last 9. Expect the Jazz to push the pace and take OVER 223.5 (-110).

Jazz at Heat picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 115, Jazz 111

Moneyline

AVOID.

The Heat should be able to win this game at home, but the risk here is not worth the reward.

Against the spread

LEAN JAZZ +7.5 (-110).

Despite the Jazz being 0-4 ATS in the last 4 meetings they are still the safer LEAN in this one. Miami is 2-8 ATS in their last 10 home games vs. teams with a losing record and they are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 games playing on 1 day of rest.

Over/Under

BET OVER 224.5 (-110).

The Over is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings between these teams. For Miami the Over is 4-1 in their last 5 vs. a team with a losing record. For Utah the Over is 4-0-1 in their last 5 overall.

Utah Jazz at Miami Heat odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Saturday’s Utah Jazz at Miami Heat odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

Two of the best squads from each conference meet Saturday when the Miami Heat (6-2) host the Utah Jazz (7-1) for a 7 p.m. ET tip-off at FTX Arena. Below, we look at the Jazz vs. Heat odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions, and bets.

Utah is a winner of three in a row, defeating the Atlanta Hawks, Sacramento Kings and Milwaukee Bucks (2-1 ATS) after losing its first game of the season at the Chicago Bulls on Oct. 30.

The Jazz are 6-2 ATS and 2-6 O/U this year.

Miami had its five-game winning streak snapped Thursday with a 95-78 loss to the Boston Celtics. Heat wing Jimmy Butler is playing the best basketball of his career thus far as he ranks third in PER and first in Win Shares.

These teams split their regular-season series last year 1-1 with the home team winning and covering each game.

Jazz at Heat key injuries

Jazz

  • SG Donovan Mitchell (ankle) questionable
  • PF Royce O’Neal (ankle) questionable
  • PF Rudy Gay (heel) out

Heat

  • PG Kyle Lowry (ankle) questionable
  • SF Max Strus (knee) out

Jazz at Heat odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Jazz 106, Heat 102

Money line

PASS even though I “lean” towards Utah plus the points because we don’t know who’s suiting up for both teams at the moment. The Heat could be without Lowry and the Jazz without Mitchell.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the JAZZ +2.5 (-112) because Lowry’s possible absence would negatively affect Miami more so than Mitchell’s absence for Utah.

Don’t get me wrong, Mitchell is a better player but the Heat don’t have a traditional PG outside of Lowry. Furthermore, the Jazz have too many sharpshooters to continue their struggles from behind the arc.

Utah is attempting the second-most 3-pointers per game and Miami is allowing the most 3-point attempts per game. The Heat runs the risk of getting torched should they allow a bunch of 3-pointers vs. the Jazz.

Also, Utah has the highest offensive FT/FGA rate in the Association and Miami has the third-worst defensive FT/FGA rate.

The bottom line is I have a lot more confidence in the JAZZ +2.5 (-110) executing their offense based on the unofficial injury reports.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the UNDER 210.5 (-107) since Miami plays at the third-slowest pace in the league and Utah has the best defensive efficiency despite having the lowest defensive turnover rate.

We’ll most likely see a bunch of long Miami possessions that end in contested mid-range jumpers. Plus the Heat are actually higher ranked in defensive efficiency than the Jazz. Plus these are both great rebounding teams so I don’t see many easy putbacks or second-chance points for either side.

But, I’m not ready to put a full unit on the UNDER 211.5 (-110) because I’m waiting for the final injury reports.

Utah Jazz at Miami Heat odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Utah Jazz at Miami Heat NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The scalding-hot Utah Jazz (26-6) visit the Miami Heat (15-17) Friday at American Airlines Arena at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Jazz-Heat odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Miami is starting to finally look like the team that represented the East in the NBA Finals last season. The Heat have won and covered four straight, which included a revenge victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on the road. Miami’s poor health luck is the main reason for the losing record.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that the Jazz have been on fire since the second week of January. Utah has won 22 of its last 24 games and has covered in 21 of those wins. The Jazz just trampled the Lakers 114-89 Wednesday as 8.5-point home favorites.

Utah destroyed Miami 112-94 as 7-point home favorites back on Feb. 13, but the Heat were missing PG Goran Dragic for that game.

Heat at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Jazz 109, Heat 107

Money line (ML)

PASS with a lean on the Heat (+220) since I like Miami to cover. Ultimately, it’s not enough value at the moment given Utah’s recent performance and the current injury report.

As always, make sure you wait until as close to tip-off as possible for the final injury news. If Miami’s big Bam Adebayo cannot play then it would really take a Utah stink for the Heat to pull out the victory.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Dragic has missed 14 of the Heat’s 32 games, and his importance to Miami’s offensive execution has been understated. With Dragic out of the lineup, there’s less floor spacing for the Heat, and according to CleaningTheGlass.com, Dragic is in the 89th percentile of guards in on-off effective field goal percentage.

Furthermore, the Jazz have the lowest defensive turnover percentage while Miami has the highest offensive turnover percentage. But, with Dragic back running the show for the Heat, my read is Miami will run some good offense Friday and will win the turnover battle in this game.

TAKE the HEAT +6.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

GIMME UNDER 218.5 (-110) for a half-unit. The total has been steamed up from a 217-point opener because the more than 90% of the money is on the Over, according to Pregame.com. So a fade the market play is obvious since we all know 90% of bettors don’t make money off the House.

Additionally, Utah plays at the 22nd-fastest pace, and Miami is 23rd in pace of play. So both teams should be able to set up their defenses and force the opponent to sink tough shots.
