Will Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have less pressure next season?

Can Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown help the Boston Celtics win a second straight championship next season?

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown led the Boston Celtics to the 2024 NBA Championship. The All-Star duo finally proved they can win at the highest level while sharing the floor. Together they helped disprove the narratives that had surrounded them in recent years and will likely enter next season with a different media landscape surrounding them.

Nevertheless, the Celtics will be looking to repeat their success from last season. Tatum and Brown will be tasked with guiding their team to back-to-back championships and will face a string of teams looking to knock them off the top spot.

In a recent episode of “Sheed & Tyler,” the hosts discuss whether Tatum and Brown will be playing without the weight of expectations on their shoulders next season or whether the pressure of competing for a repeat could weigh just as heavy.

Re-tracing how the Boston Celtics roster was constructed

How the Boston Celtics went from a young and rebuilding team to the most dominant roster in the NBA.

The Boston Celtics roster has the fingerprints of Danny Ainge and Brad Stevens. Ainge laid out the initial blueprint after receiving a haul of draft picks from the Brooklyn Nets in the Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce trade. He also drafted Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart, three players who became the foundation of Boston’s roster.

Stevens took things a step further. He traded Smart as part of the Kristaps Porzingis deal. He reunited Al Horford with the Celtics after he had left in 2019. He also brought Jrue Holiday and Derrick White to Boston, forming the most versatile backcourt pairing in the NBA.

Both Stevens and Ainge deserve credit for their work in building a championship team over the years. In a recent video by ClutchPoints, the host looks at every step the Celtics took that led to their 2024 NBA Championship and to position themselves as a dominant force in the league for years to come.

Will Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown improve after winning a ring?

Can Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown elevate their games after leading the Boston Celtics to a record 18th championship in franchise history?

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown finally led the Boston Celtics to a championship. They overcame the Dallas Mavericks in five games to gift Boston its 18th championship in franchise history and finally dispelled the notion that they couldn’t win while playing on the same team. Tatum and Brown both enjoyed strong seasons, with each star embracing a new role within Joe Mazzulla’s rotation.

In the latest episode of “Ticket and the Truth,” Celtics legends Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce discuss whether winning their first championship will spur Tatum and Brown to elevate their games to new heights. The pair will likely face a dogfight to retain their championship in the upcoming season.

Garnett and Pierce could not add a second ring to their resumes during their Boston tenure. However, they could see Tatum and Brown going one step further and cementing their names within Celtics history.

Brad Stevens risky offseason moves paid off in the biggest way

Brad Stevens deserves credit for his risky offseason trades paying off with an NBA Championship.

During the 2023 offseason, Brad Stevens made some tough decisions as he looked to re-tool the Boston Celtics roster following an Eastern Conference loss to the Miami Heat. Out went Marcus Smart, Robert Williams, Grant Williams and Sixth Man of the Year Malcolm Brogdon. And in came Kristaps Porzingis, Jrue Holiday and Oshae Brissett.

Losing Smart was undoubtedly the hardest move for Celtics fans. He had become the leader of the franchise and was the longest-tenured member of the team. Nevertheless, Stevens’ moves were designed to empower Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown while giving them a roster capable of pushing for an NBA Championship.

Joe Mazzulla led the team to the best record in the NBA, earning them the first overall seed. Then, Boston dispatched every team in their way en route to winning Banner 18. In a recent episode of WEEI’s “Jones & Mego,” the hosts praised Stevens for having the guile to make those tough decisions and for how they paid off in the biggest way possible.

It is time the Boston Celtics started receiving some apologies

Is it time for the Boston Celtics to start receiving apologies from media members around the NBA?

The Boston Celtics are the 2024 NBA Champions. They dominated the regular season and only dropped three games throughout the playoffs. Despite their strong performances and impressive consistency, the mainstream media continually questioned their championship credentials, especially during their run to the NBA Finals.

Now that Boston has won a championship, the narrative surrounding the team is likely to change. They won in convincing fashion. They overcame the backcourt duo of Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic. Most importantly, they proved they could win against multiple different playing styles throughout the season.

As such, the “And One Hoops,” YouTube channel has issued an apology for their takes surrounding Boston during the season. They admitted that they got things wrong in their coverage of the team. Maybe now would be the right time for other disbelievers to issue a similar apology as we head into the offseason.

Celtics star duo open up on bringing Banner 18 to Boston

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both opened up on what it was like to bring Banner 18 to the Boston Celtics.

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown have been with the Boston Celtics for their entire careers. They have enjoyed significant success for the majority of their tenure with the franchise. However, this season will undoubtedly be their most memorable, as they helped lead the team to its first championship in 16 years.

During the opening ceremony of the Celtics championship parade, Tatum and Brown discussed what it was like to bring a championship to Boston and how it felt to complete a goal they’ve both been working toward since being drafted by Danny Ainge in 2016 and 2017, respectively.

The Boston Globe posted Tatum and Brown’s full pre-ceremony interview to their YouTube page, allowing fans who weren’t in attendance to hear from their favorite team’s two-star players after they both adjusted their games to help Boston get over the hump.

Marcus Smart was so proud of the Celtics winning the title despite obvious bittersweet feelings

Marcus Smart is so classy.

After years of near-misses, the Jayson Tatum Boston Celtics finally climbed the NBA’s mountain. But while Tatum and Jaylen Brown enjoyed the fruits of their labor, one of the team’s ex-integral core pieces, Marcus Smart, was left on the outside looking in because of an offseason trade.

Smart says he doesn’t hold any grudges over it.

In an interview on the Run Your Race podcast, Smart said he was so proud of the Celtics for finally winning the NBA title. At the same time, he admitted it was a little bittersweet watching them do it without him. But he’s not letting those feelings cloud his joy for ex-teammates.

What a classy guy:

Smart is experiencing one of the more unfortunate foibles for a professional athlete. He was there for all of the important developmental moments during the Tatum and Brown era. He experienced all of the playoff heartbreak that they did. Except when it was time to cash in for a title, the Boston front office decided it might be better off without him, and that bet turned out to be correct.

Kudos to Smart for handling this tough situation with aplomb. He understands that he could and should still be happy for his friends first and foremost.

Why Gary Washburn picked Celtics’ Jayson Tatum over Jaylen Brown for 2024 NBA Finals MVP

The vote was actually a close one, with Brown beating out Tatum by the thinnest of margins.

By and large, fans of the Boston Celtics seemed as fine with star Celtics forward Jaylen Brown winning the 2024 NBA Finals Most Valuable Player award over his costar on the wing, Jayson Tatum. But the vote was actually a close one, with Brown beating out Tatum by the thinnest of margins.

To talk it over, the hosts of the CLNS Media “The Big Three NBA” podcast, A. Sherrod Blakely, Gary Washburn, and Kwani Lunis, took a closer look at Washburn’s reasons for voting Tatum — and why he is fine with Brown getting the nod. They also touch on the Celtics’ impressive Game 5 that resulted in their season ending with Banner 18, and a sneak peek ahead to what’s next for the Celtics.

Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say.

Jaylen Brown trolled Stephen A. Smith at Celtics championship parade

Jaylen Brown trolled Stephen A. Smith during the Boston Celtics championship parade following Smith’s controversial take.

Stephen A. Smith has been rather tough on the Boston Celtics this year. He didn’t always believe they could win the 2024 NBA Championship. And he was especially tough on Jaylen Brown, with the veteran reporter claiming a source had recently told him that Brown wasn’t a marketable player due to his “I’m better than you attitude.”

Brown has since responded in genius fashion. The 2024 NBA Finals MVP wore a shirt to the Celtics championship parade with the slogan “State Your Source,” which was about Smith’s comments earlier in the season. Brown had also called Smith out on social media following his claim.

The “Around The Association” YouTube channel has taken a deeper dive into the situation between Brown and Smith, detailing the entire saga and why Brown’s t-shirt was such a smart response to the popular ESPN anchor.

Jayson Tatum reacting to Jaylen Brown winning 2024 NBA Finals MVP with the Boston Celtics

There has been far too much ink spilled over the years over whether star Celtics forwards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum like each other.

There has been far too much ink spilled over the years over whether star Boston Celtics forwards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum like each other over the years as the media and opposing fan bases search for strings to pull in search of clicks and schadenfreude.

But when it came time to hand Brown the NBA’s 2024 Finals Most Valuable Player award, it was all smiles on the part of Tatum and Brown both (and everyone around them as well, for that matter). That old battleaxe of a narrative will need to be retired, or at least remade after this historic moment. And many more as well, the privilege that comes with winning an NBA title.

Our friends over at the “Celtics All Access on CLNS” official YouTube channel were there to document it all for posterity; check it out for yourself below!
