Jay Glazer fiercely defends Michael Strahan from national anthem ‘controversy’ with long post

Jay Glazer really nailed it with the silly Michael Strahan controversy.

Jay Glazer made sure to defend Michael Strahan from the absurd criticism of the Hall of Famer and fellow Fox NFL Sunday star after the son of an Army major who grew up on a base in Germany didn’t put his hand over his heart during the national anthem on Sunday.

“Let me tell you this, I don’t know if I have a friend who is more proud of his military roots than Michael, growing up on an army base constantly talking about what he learned from his dad Major Gene Strahan and how his time there shaped him. I heard it CONSTANTLY, still do!” Glazer wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

MORE: Why the Michael Strahan “controversy” isn’t one at all

He went on to say that people should “ASK him if he’s protesting something,” and he’s right, while also pointing out Strahan’s work with veterans.

Glazer really nailed it.

Jay Glazer reports Taysom Hill is dealing with a bruised lung

FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer reports New Orleans Saints do-it-all tight end Taysom Hill is dealing with a bruised lung:

Here’s some clarity on Taysom Hill’s chest injury. FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer reported Sunday that the New Orleans Saints’ do-it-all tight end is dealing with a bruised lung. Hill had been limited at practice with a chest injury which he suffered last Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys.

Hill was listed as questionable for this week’s game with the Philadelphia Eagles but the team chose to hold him out.

Glazer added that Hill still had some minor breathing issues which ultimately led to this decision. He quoted Dennis Allen on Hill’s absence as, “No one who can replace Taysom Hill” which meant there needs to be a collective effort in order to fulfill his special role in this offense.

Report: Panthers rebuffed 4 teams with trade interest in QB Bryce Young

According to FOX’s Jay Glazer, four teams have contacted the Panthers about the potential availability of QB Bryce Young.

NFL insider Jay Glazer provided a little more detail about the current state of the relationship between the Carolina Panthers and Bryce Young.

On today’s episode of FOX NFL Sunday, Glazer reported that four teams contacted the Panthers to inquire about a possible trade for the struggling second-year quarterback. He added that Carolina, in turn, rebuffed all four of those advances . . .

http://twitter.com/TheComebackNFL/status/1837889496576077998

Glazer’s information comes off the heels of a similar report from ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter. Schefter, on Saturday night, wrote that Young has drawn the interest of “several teams” following his benching earlier this week.

Like Glazer, Schefter noted that the organization is not looking to trade away the 2023 No. 1 overall pick. Head coach Dave Canales told reporters the same on Tuesday.

“Yeah, that’s not something we’re really considering,” Canales said of the trade speculation surrounding Young. “We have a great situation with our quarterbacks right now, with guys that have experience. So, we love where we’re at.”

Young was benched after Carolina got off to a disappointing 0-2 start. He passed for just 245 yards and three interceptions between the pair of outings.

14th-year veteran Andy Dalton will be under center for the team’s Week 3 matchup against the Las Vegas Raiders later this afternoon.

Dan Campbell gets a rude awakening after the Lions loss in Dallas

Dan Campbell gets a rude awakening after the Lions loss in Dallas from some contractors at his home

The Detroit Lions lost an emotionally intense game against the Dallas Cowboys on Saturday night. Head coach Dan Campbell was furious after a controversial officiating call cost his Lions a potential win.

He was apparently also upset once he got home. The Lions flew back to Detroit overnight, but Campbell got no rest. As told by FOX’s Jay Glazer, someone messed with Campbell on Sunday morning, too.

“Somebody gave his address out and sent a bunch of contractors to his house early in the morning to fix his garage and his driveway,” Glazer said after talking to Campbell.

It’s a bizarre situation, no doubt. Finding contractors to work outside on a Sunday morning in near-freezing temperatures and light rain, on New Year’s Eve no less, couldn’t have been an easy undertaking.

Jay Glazer says Commanders will trade ‘at least’ one defensive lineman before deadline

Glazer expects one of Allen, Young, or Sweat to be moved.

It could be a busy week for the Washington Commanders. The NFL trade deadline is on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. ET. The rumors are swirling that the Commanders could be sellers ahead of the deadline. The players Washington has received the most inquiries on, at least that we know of, are defensive lineman Jonathan Allen, Chase Young and Montez Sweat.

According to NFL insider Jay Glazer of FOX Sports, at least one of Washington’s four star defensive linemen will be moved.

“So Washington, they have three defensive linemen,” Glazer said. “Jonathan Allen came out this past week and said he wants out of Washington, pretty much.”

First, let’s be clear with all due respect to Glazer: Allen never said that. He was frustrated, which he expressed after the game and the day after on his weekly appearance with the “Sports Junkies.”

“Look, there is rumors out there that the Chicago Bears have a deal for Chase Young; that is not true,” Glazer continued. “I don’t even think that one is going to happen. But I will tell you this: there’s a lot of teams that called Washington for all three of those players. At least one of those D-Linemen will get moved this week. And they’re looking Chase Young, a two-plus (2nd-round pick and more), three-plus (3rd-round pick and more), something along those lines. But, so somebody is going to get one of those players.”

Here’s the full exchange:

Glazer is one of the NFL’s more respected insiders, but Adam Schefter of ESPN said Saturday that Allen would not be moved.

The Commanders also received trade inquiries on Jonathan Allen after the defensive tackle’s postgame eruption after last Sunday’s loss to the New York Giants, but Washington said it is not willing to deal him and wouldn’t even have the conversation with other teams, according to sources.

The biggest question is, should Sunday’s outcome change Washington’s plans? If you’re clear this version of the Commanders isn’t a championship team, then you should look for value for any players on existing contracts.

Buckle up.

Ravens QB Lamar Jackson, Ravens making major progress on long-term agreement

It is being reported that a deal between the Ravens and Lamar Jackson could happen very soon.

Tonight is the first night of the 2023 NFL Draft, and the Baltimore Ravens have the 22nd overall pick.  The team only has five picks, with none in the second round as of now.  With all that going on, the Lamar Jackson contract situation is still up in the air.

It is now being reported by Jay Glazer of Fox Sports, that major progress has been made between Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.  He is saying that a deal could be done very soon, without any hiccups.  This is all good news for the NFL, Lamar Jackson, and the Ravens organization.

The quarterback situation would now be solidified, and the team would be able to make addition moves with the potential of gaining more cap space whenever the dollar amount is reveal, when a deal is signed.

Commanders’ sale expected ‘sooner than later’

Jay Glazer is one of the NFL’s most plugged-in reporters.

Every week that the Washington Commanders aren’t sold, worry begins to creep into the minds of the team’s longtime fans.

Earlier this month, multiple reports — one from Front Office Sports and one from JP Finlay — said a sale is expected soon.

With Super Bowl LVII approaching, you probably will not hear a lot regarding the sale of Washington over the next two weeks. The NFL likes to keep the focus squarely on the big game, especially next week.

However, on Sunday, Jay Glazer of FOX Sports was answering fan questions and, no surprise, one of the questions posed to Glazer was regarding the sale of the Commanders. Remember, Glazer was the first one back in November to report a timeline for a potential Washington sale.

What was Glazer’s latest regarding a Commanders’ sale?

“Sooner than later,” Glazer said. “This whole time, they’ve wanted to get something done where they could basically vote on it at March NFL owner’s meetings. Where all the owners could vote. And after it becomes official, the sale has to be agreed on before that. So the latest you’re looking at is the end of March.”

Nothing new there. It’s along the lines of what Finlay said two weeks ago. While Washington would prefer things happen before the start of the new league year on March 15, that always seemed a bit too optimistic.

Glazer is one of the more respected NFL reporters, and he’s always maintained this timeline, which bodes well for the sale to become official in March.

Eagles’ Lane Johnson called up Saints’ Cameron Jordan for injury advice

FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer shared an exchange from Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson, who called up Cameron Jordan for advice on managing a painful injury:

So this is cool. FOX Sports’ Jay Glazer shared an exchange from Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson before their Saturday night playoff game with the New York Giants, in which Johnson was preparing to play despite a painful abdominal injury.

The groin injury sidelined the four-time Pro Bowl lineman for his team’s game with the New Orleans Saints late in the regular season, so he reached out to one of his one of his most respected opponents for some words of wisdom.

It’s a similar injury to what seven-time Pro Bowl Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan dealt with during the final five games of the 2019 season, which required surgery in the spring. Johnson plans to go under the knife, too, but he hopes to help the Eagles win another Super Bowl first. But the advice Jordan gave him wasn’t what he wanted to hear.

Glazer reflected on his conversation with Johnson, in which he said Jordan told him, “It’s going to hurt every single play you’re out there,” to which Johnson exclaimed, “I was hoping (Jordan) would say anything but that!”

Hey, there’s not much to be done about a muscle tear like this. All of the dynamic stretching, heating pads, and painkillers in the world are only going to take some of the edge off. It goes to show what kind of competitors Jordan and Johnson both are that they’re able to gut out the pain and stay on the field when their team needs them most.

Jay Glazer says Broncos would ‘back up the Brinks truck’ for Sean Payton

Jay Glazer reports the Broncos would ‘back up the Brinks truck’ for Sean Payton. They have enough draft picks to match almost any other offer:

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbyahgz6p2j3xp7 player_id=01eqbvhghtkmz2182d image=]

Well there’s your Denver Broncos sales pitch, Sean Payton. The former New Orleans Saints head coach stepped down from his position to go on hiatus and pal around with his close friend Jay Glazer on the FOX NFL Sunday pregame show each week — and Glazer, the network’s top NFL insider, made it clear just how strongly the Broncos covet the Super Bowl-winning head coach.

“They don’t to go the coordinator route, they want someone with experience who is established. Certainly a guy like Sean Payton, they’d back up the Brinks truck,” Glazer said during his Sunday segment, looking quickly around the studio: “Where’s Sean? He’s around here somewhere. You hear that Sean? They’ll back up the Brinks truck for him.”

Glazer added that, yes, the Broncos (and any other team) looking to hire Payton needs to trade draft pick compensation to the Saints, who own his coaching rights through 2024. And Denver can match almost any other offer. They sent star pass rusher Bradley Chubb to the Miami Dolphins at the midseason trade deadline in exchange for a 2023 first round pick from the San Francisco 49ers (who sent it to Miami in the first place while moving up for quarterback Trey Lance a few years ago). The Broncos also own all of their picks in the 2024 draft’s first four rounds. They can compete with any offer.

And the Broncos’ new ownership group is one of the wealthiest in the NFL, headlined by Walmart heir Rob Walton. Money isn’t an issue, as Glazer made very clear. There’s still another week or two before the NFL’s head coach hiring cycle kicks off in earnest, at which point we’ll learn whether all of this interest reported out of Denver is genuine or just bluster. At any rate, all of the reporting right now suggests they want to swing big.

“The reason why,” Glazer finished, “They do want someone who can come in and work with Russell Wilson.” Glazer identified other top options for the Broncos as Michigan Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh, who had great NFL success before leaving to rebuild his alma mater, as well as former Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, who Wilson has worked with in the past. At the end of the day, Payton has to want the job, but these early indications suggest the Broncos owners are prepared to do what’s needed to woo him over.

Jay Glazer: Commanders are for sale and NFL hopes to have it done within 6 months

The NFL hopes to finalize the sale of the Commanders by the NFL owner’s meetings in March.

The Washington Commanders are for sale and could fetch as much as $7 billion, according to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports.

Forbes broke the story last week that Washington owner Daniel Snyder was “exploring” a potential team sale. It wasn’t specific as to whether it was a complete sale or a minority stake in the franchise to raise some capital.

The Commanders released a statement shortly after the Forbes report, stating they were exploring “potential transactions.”

Regardless, the potential buyers are already lining up, with Byron Allen expecting to make a bid. And, unsurprisingly, Jeff Bezos is also reportedly interested.

There will be others.

And the sale of Washington could happen soon.

“The other interesting part is the timeline,” Glazer said. “This is not going to be a long, drawn-out process. I’m told the hope is to have this done within the next six months and actually have it finalized by the NFL owner’s meetings next March.”

The Commanders are hosting the Minnesota Vikings in Week 9 at FedEx Field.
