NFC North mock draft roundup from NFL.com’s latest 3-rounder

Breaking down the draft hauls around the NFC North in the latest 3-round mock from NFL.com’s Chad Reuter

The NFL season is over, mock draft season is in full effect now.

PFF and Pro Football Network have been pushing them all out all season long, now it is time for NFL media to step up to the plate. The latest piece they have for draft fans to digest is a three-round mock draft written by Chad Reuter.

In the mock, the NFC North makes 15 picks led by the Packers six. They made a trade back with the Chiefs in round one to acquire more picks while the Vikings traded up and have just two picks. As for the Lions, they make four picks all of which would be home runs.

5 nickel CBs the Colts should target in 2024 NFL draft

Taking a look at some nickel CBs the Colts should considering drafting.

Until the Indianapolis Colts go through free agency, there isn’t a clear position that Chris Ballard needs to target in the upcoming NFL draft.

Free agency should help clear up some question marks surrounding the roster and one area on the defense that can end up becoming a big need is if the team doesn’t re-sign Kenny Moore II.

I am in the camp that Moore II has to be brought back in 2024 but even with him on the roster, Ballard should keep nickel cornerbacks on his radar in the draft.

Moore II will be 29 next season and if he is re-signed, it will likely come on a 2-3 year deal so the future has to be considered. As well as that, Moore II has missed six games in the past two years and when he is out of the lineup, it is very apparent that the defense misses him.

Adding depth at nickel can give Gus Bradley an option if Moore II has to miss any time and not be forced to utilize his safeties in that role like he has in the past.

Here are five corners that Ballard can target for the nickel role in the draft:

Vikings 2024 7 round mock draft 4.0: What if they only took positions of need?

Tyler Forness takes a look at what a draft would look like only taking positions of need

The Minnesota Vikings have a lot of different ways they can go in the NFL draft. There will be some discussion on what needs are most important but the Vikings can address most of them through both free agency and the NFL draft.

Each week throughout the leadup to the NFL draft, I will be doing different seven round mock drafts for the Vikings as a way to explore different scenarios. You never know who might fall to you and how that could cause a ripple effect and being ready for those situations is paramount come draft weekend.

In the second rendition of our seven round mock draft series, what could a draft look like that has the Vikings took players only at position of need?

2024 NFL draft film review: Louisville CB Jarvis Brownlee Jr.

Louisville CB Jarvis Brownlee is an impressive CB. Saivion Mixson dives into the film and breaks down the talented 2024 NFL Draft prospect

The Minnesota Vikings have nine picks going into the 2024 NFL Draft:

  • First round, 11th overall
  • Second round, 42nd overall
  • Fourth round (from Detroit)
  • Fourth round
  • Fifth round (from Kansas City)
  • Fifth round (from Cleveland)
  • Sixth round (from Jacksonville)
  • Sixth round (from Las Vegas)
  • Seventh round (from Atlanta via Arizona)

To maximize these picks, the Vikings front office has a lot of homework to find who in this draft is a good fit for Minnesota.

One of the hottest names coming out of Mobile after the Senior Bowl was Louisville defensive back Jarvis Brownlee. In this exercise, we dive deeper into the film, in Mobile, and during his five-year college career to explore how he could fit as a Viking.

Managing Editor Tyler Forness also has a great scouting report on him below.

The focus of the draft class in this space will be on the Vikings’ major needs at quarterback, running back, defensive line and edge rusher. We will also focus on wide receiver since it’s a loaded class and an increased chance to get a Stefon Diggs-type steal in the later rounds.

The Vikings are slated to have 9 picks going into the NFL draft and they need to make the most out of them.

10 NFL draft prospects whose stock rose during Senior Bowl week

Who were the biggest winners from the Reese’s Senior Bowl for the 2024 NFL Draft? Roman Wilson and Spencer Rattler highlight the group.

The 2024 NFL draft process isn’t just fun, but it’s also complex and in turn, fascinating.

The Reese’s Senior Bowl is the first of many different NFL draft events and it’s arguably the most important of them all. Jim Nagy and his team invite around 120 prospects to Mobile, AL for an all-star week filled with practices, media availability and the game itself of Saturday afternoon.

The most important part of the week for the media is watching practice. It gets everyone, including multiple small school players on the same playing field. The drills allow them to show what they have in one-on-one situations where the best man wins, allowing traits and ability to shine over everything else.

There were plenty of standouts across both teams, including some first round talents like UCLA EDGE Laiatu Latu and Toledo CB Quinyon Mitchell. While they helped their stocks, this list isn’t going to include players who have been projected in the first round. The real joy of Senior Bowl week is seeing players take a massive step forward in their process.

These 10 players that weren’t projected to be first round picks improved their stocks the most during the week.
