The Dallas Stars (37-20-6) will tangle with the Boston Bruins (39-13-12) Thursday at TD Garden at 7:30 p.m. ET (on NBCSN). We analyze the Stars-Bruins sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Stars at Bruins: Projected starting goalies

Ben Bishop vs. Jaroslav Halak

Bishop heads into this one with a 21-13-4 record, 2.45 goals against average and .922 save percentage across his 41 appearances (40 starts). He faced the B’s in his first appearance of the season, falling 2-1 while making 18 saves on 20 shots Oct. 3. He hasn’t been as sharp since the All-Star break, turning in a 5-3-1 record, but a subpar 3.05 GAA and .906 SV% in nine outings.

Halak is expected to get the starting nod after Tuukka Rask (23-7-6, 2.22 GAA, .926 SV%) lost to the Calgary Flames Tuesday, his first home loss in regulation this season. Halak is 16-6-6 with a 2.42 GAA and .918 SV% across 29 appearances (27 starts). He has won five of his past six appearances, and three consecutive starts at home.

Prediction

Bruins 3, Stars 2

Moneyline (ML)

The BRUINS (-182) are right at or slightly above the threshold for moneylines I like to play. They’re facing a red-hot Stars team (+150) that just dismantled the Carolina Hurricanes 4-1 in Raleigh Tuesday. In fact, the Stars are 6-1 in the past seven as an underdog, 5-1 in the past six as a road dog and 7-2 in the past nine overall. The road team has also won 10 of the past 13 meetings in this series. However, the B’s are 10-3 in the past 13 against winning teams and 7-1 in the past eight as a home favorite.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Bruins ML returns a profit of $5.49 if they win, while a $10 wager on the Stars ML results in a profit of $15 if they win.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The moneyline is much more attractive than taking the Bruins (-1.5, +145), even though they’re tempting at this price level. The Stars (+1.5, -173) are too expensive, too, if you’re looking for a little insurance. AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 5.5 (-139) is the play with two strong defensive teams. Dallas ranks third in the NHL in goals allowed, while Boston leads the league in the category. The B’s are also No. 3 on the penalty kill at 83.8 percent, so you can expect goals to be at a premium in this one.

Vegas Golden Knights at Boston Bruins odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Tuesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Boston Bruins sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

The Vegas Golden Knights (25-19-7) visit the Boston Bruins (28-10-12) Tuesday at TD Garden for a 7 p.m. ET puck drop. We analyze the Golden Knights-Bruins odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Vegas has dropped five of its last six games, most recently losing a 5-4 shootout at the Montreal Canadiens 5-4 Saturday.

The Atlantic Division-leading Bruins just split a home-and-away with the Pittsburgh Penguins, falling 4-3 on the road Sunday. Boston won at Vegas 4-3 in the first meeting between the two Oct. 8.

Golden Knights at Bruins: Projected starting goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury vs. Jaroslav Halak

Fleury is 19-11-4 with a 2.85 goals against average (GAA) and a .906 save percentage. Fleury has struggled lately, winning just one of his last five starts. He allowed 4 goals on 32 shots in the shootout loss in Montreal.

Halak is 11-6-6 with a 2.49 GAA and a .918 SV%. Halak lost his last start, surrendering 4 goals on 22 shots in Sunday’s loss in Pittsburgh. He is 2-3-1 in January with a 3.34 GAA and a .878 SV%, but he won his last two home starts.

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Bruins 3

Moneyline (ML)

The Bruins (-154) are 16-2-9 at home, losing just twice in regulation, but I’m backing the GOLDEN KNIGHTS (+125). It’s a solid value play as Vegas is re-energized and re-focused with a new coach. They’ll want to close out their final game before the All-Star break with a strong performance. Plus, Fleury is 6-3-2 with a 2.47 GAA and .921 SV% on the road.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (PL/ATS)

AVOID. Vegas (+1.5, -209) and Boston (-1.5, +170) are both under .500 vs. the PL. Vegas is 19-32 overall and 10-14 on the road vs. the PL, while the Bruins are 23-27 overall and 11-16 at home vs. the PL.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-134) is the STRONGEST PLAY. Eight of Vegas’ last nine games have seen at least 6 goals. That’s enough to convince me – even though Boston is 1-4 O/U in its last five games as a home favorite.

Every $1.34 wagered on the Over will profit $1 if the two combine for 6 or more goals (shootout goals do NOT count).

Pittsburgh Penguins at Boston Bruins odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Thursday’s Pittsburgh Penguins at Boston Bruins sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Pittsburgh Penguins (29-12-5) and Boston Bruins (27-9-12) tangle at TD Garden at 7 p.m. ET Thursday. We analyze the Penguins-Bruins sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

Penguins at Bruins: Projected starting goalies

Matt Murray vs. Jaroslav Halak

Murray is riding a three-game winning streak. He is 13-6-4 on the season with a .896 save percentage and 2.91 goals against average, but may finally be starting to round back into form after losing playing time to backup Tristan Jarry.

Starter Tuukka Rask was knocked out of Tuesday’s start at the Columbus Blue Jackets in the opening minutes of the first period after a violent collision with Emil Bemstrom. Head coach Bruce Cassidy normally likes to rotate his goaltenders, so Halak was likely to make this start anyway. Halak allowed three goals on 27 shots in the loss, playing 58:48, so it’s uncertain if Cassidy turns to Rask if he is cleared.

Prediction

Penguins 4, Bruins 2

Moneyline (ML)

The PENGUINS (+115) are a solid play on the road. Pittsburgh has won five straight on the road and 18 of its last 24 games overall. The Bruins (-139) have managed wins in just three of the past 10 games at home, and they’re 1-4 in the past five against Metropolitan Division foes.

New to sports betting? Every $10 wagered for the Penguins to win in regulation, overtime or a shootout would profit $11.50 if they do so.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Penguins (+1.5, -239) should be avoided. If you want insurance, they’re not worth playing, as they’ll cost you nearly two and a half times your return on investment. The Bruins (-1.5, +195) are a nice play at double money if you’re feeling the home side. I’m not, though. AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-134) has cashed in four in a row for the Pens, and four of the past five on the road. The Over is also 5-0 in Pittsburgh’s past five against teams with a winning overall mark, too. The Over is 3-1-1 in Boston’s past five games overall while going 10-2 in the past 12 meetings in this series and 5-1 in the previous six battles at TD Garden.
