UFC on ESPN 32 fighters took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay, a program that continued after the UFC’s deal with Venum.

LAS VEGAS – Fighters from Saturday’s UFC on ESPN 32 event took home UFC Promotional Guidelines Compliance pay totaling $132,000.

The program, a comprehensive plan that includes outfitting requirements, media obligations and other items under the fighter code of conduct, replaces the previous payments made under the UFC Athlete Outfitting Policy.

UFC on ESPN 32 took place at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas. The card aired on ESPN and streamed on ESPN+.

Fighters with 1-3 bouts receive $4,000 per appearance; 4-5 bouts get $4,500; 6-10 bouts get $6,000; 11-15 bouts earn $11,000; 16-20 bouts pocket $16,000; and 21 bouts and more get $21,000. Additionally, champions earn $42,000 while title challengers get $32,000.

In addition to experience-based pay, UFC fighters will receive in perpetuity royalty payments amounting to 20-32 percent of any UFC merchandise sold that bears their likeness, according to officials.

Jamie Pickett out of UFC Fight Night 194, bout vs. Laureano Staropoli rescheduled for Oct. 23

Jamie Pickett vs. Laureano Staropoli is off Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 194 due to COVID-19.

[autotag]Jamie Pickett[/autotag] will have to wait a little longer to fight [autotag]Laureano Staropoli[/autotag].

Pickett (11-6 MMA, 0-2 UFC) has been pulled from his matchup against Staropoli (9-4 MMA, 2-3 UFC) at Saturday’s UFC Fight Night 194 after one of his coaches tested positive for COVID-19 during fight week in Las Vegas. The news of the withdrawal was first reported by AgFight on Tuesday and later confirmed by MMA Junkie.

Pickett also shared a message about the situation on his Instagram story:

“Fight has been canceled and I’m stuck in vegas. One of my coaches tested positive for covid and now we have to stay here for 10 days. I’m pissed the f*ck off but everything is everything. I’ll get through this somehow.”

MMA Junkie also learned from sources that Staropoli will not be given a replacement opponent for Saturday’s event. Instead, the middleweight matchup will be rescheduled for the UFC Fight Night event on Oct. 23.

Staropoli is coming off a three-fight losing streak, which ended his 2-0 start in the promotion. The bout with Pickett will be the second fight at 185 pounds for the Argentinian, as he was previously fighting at welterweight.

Meanwhile, Pickett is in search of his first UFC win. The 33-year-old has lost both of his UFC bouts since earning a contract with the promotion at Dana White’s Contender Series back in August 2020.

Charles Oliveira (31-8 MMA, 19-8 UFC) became the new lightweight champion in the main event when he scored a thrilling second-round TKO win over Michael Chandler (22-6 MMA, 1-1 UFC), setting all types of UFC records in the process.

UFC 262 video: Jordan Wright crushes Jamie Pickett in 64 seconds

Jordan Wright lived up to his reputation as a fast finisher once again against Jamie Pickett at UFC 262.

Wright (12-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) needed just 64 seconds to stop Pickett (11-6 MMA, 0-2 UFC) with strikes in their middleweight preliminary card bout on Saturday at the Toyota Center in Houston.

Pickett made the error of trying to push Wright against the cage in the opening moments. He was met with a brutal assault of elbows that hurt him, and from there he was in survival mode. Wright attacked with vicious knees and punches, and then got the stoppage shortly thereafter.

A jubilant Wright said he was happy to get the job done in front of an audience for the first time in his octagon tenure.

“As soon as I saw his legs buckle I knew it was a matter of time,” Wright said in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. “I have a 100 percent finish rate and I can tell when people are hurt.”

UFC 262 adds Jamie Pickett vs. Jordan Wright to lineup

A middleweight fight is the latest addition to UFC 262.

[autotag]Jamie Pickett[/autotag] and [autotag]Jordan Wright[/autotag] have been booked to fight.

The two middleweight fighters are set to square off May 15 at UFC 262 at a location and venue that hasn’t been publicly announced.

Two people with knowledge of the matchup confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie on Monday but asked to remain anonymous as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.

Upon his third try on Dana White’s Contender Series, Pickett (11-5 MMA, 0-1 UFC) finally earned a UFC deal. He made his promotional debut Dec. 19 at UFC Fight Night 183 when he lost a unanimous decision to Tafon Nchukwi.

Meanwhile, Wright (11-1 MMA, 1-1 UFC) has split his appearances. After he stopped Ike Villanueva due to a cut 91 seconds into his UFC debut, Wright was finished by strikes at the hands of Joaquin Buckley in his sophomore promotional outing.
