Georgia HC Kirby Smart updates LT Jamaree Salyer’s injury status

Georgia’s Kirby Smart updated the status of starting left tackle Jamaree Salyer on Monday…

No. 1 Georgia has had its share of injury problems this season.

One of the more notable losses to the starting lineup is starting left tackle and preseason All-American Jamaree Salyer.

The senior was forced to miss last week’s matchup with Missouri due to a foot injury. Freshman Broderick Jones stepped in and played well, but the Bulldogs want their offensive line leader back on the field as soon as possible.

UGA head coach Kirby Smart spoke on Salyer’s injury in his weekly press conference on Monday.

“Jamaree’s (injury) is not extremely serious. It does not require surgery. He may be able to go this week. We will see how he is today. We’re hoping to get him back. He’s conditioning, running, doing everything. We’re just hoping we can get him back.”

The fact that Salyer is already back on the practice field for conditioning is a good sign.

UGA will head to Tennessee this week before returning to Athens on Nov. 20 to face Charleston Southern before ending the regular season in Atlanta versus Georgia Tech.
