Areas of concern ahead of Alabama’s Week 6 matchup against Texas A&M

Some areas of concern ahead of Alabama’s Week 6 matchup against the Texas A&M Aggies.

Alabama players, coaches, and fans are well aware of what the outcome was last season against Texas A&M. It was one of the worst-played games since Nick Saban became the coach at Alabama. As a result, the Crimson Tide have had to wait a year to avenge their loss to the Aggies.

It has created a lot of friction between the programs. After Saban stated his strong opinion on the state of college football in the name, image, likeness (NIL) era, especially the Aggies football recruiting philosophies, Texas A&M head coach Jimbo Fisher responded by calling him a narcissist.

It hasn’t sat well with the Alabama faithful. However, the time has now come for Alabama to settle the feud on the gridiron. On Saturday, the Crimson Tide will host the Aggies for a highly anticipated Week 6 matchup..

Roll Tide Wire will take a look at some of the areas of concern ahead of their matchup against the Texas A&M Aggies.

Report Card: Grading Alabama’s impressive road win over Arkansas

Despite losing start QB Bryce Young, the Alabama football team was able to solidly defeat the Arkansas Razorbacks 49-26. Let’s take a look at the Crimson Tide’s report card for Week 5.

Alabama football coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] has to be pleased with the resiliency his team showed on Saturday afternoon. The Crimson Tide would lose its star quarterback [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] early in the contest and would weather the storm of a third-quarter surge by the Razorbacks to defeat Arkansas 49-26.

The Alabama offense would need to lean on the ground game in the second half with the absence of Young and the offensive line and the backs delivered.

[autotag]Jahmyr Gibbs[/autotag] broke two touchdown runs of 70+ yards in the fourth quarter to seal the victory for the Tide. Backup quarterback [autotag]Jalen Milroe[/autotag] also had a run of 77-yards on a long third down to set up a touchdown for Alabama.

Defensively it was a bit of an up-and-down day, but to be fair they were put in some unfortunate circumstances on a couple of occasions in the third quarter.

Now that we have had time to digest the victory, let’s take a look at this week’s report card for the Crimson Tide.

First…the offense…

Everything Nick Saban said following Alabama’s emotional win over Arkansas

Everything Alabama football coach Nick Saban said following the Tide’s 49-26 win over the Arkansas Razorbacks.

In one of the strangest, most momentum-swinging games you have ever seen, No. 2 Alabama went on the road and defeated the Arkansas Razorbacks 49-26.

The Crimson Tide would come out of the gates on fire and quickly jumped on the Hogs 14-0. Then, one of the scariest moments of the college football season happened when star quarterback [autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] exited the contest with a shoulder injury.

Following the contest, Crimson Tide head coach [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] would meet with members of the media and would update the status of Young as well as give his thoughts on how the Tide performed in the adversity-filled game.

Our friend at Razorbacks Wire Eric Bolin was able to sit in on the press conference and was generous enough to share coach Saban’s post-game quotes with us.

5 takeaways from Alabama’s interesting win over Arkansas

Alabama got the win, but there’s a lot to address before taking on Texas A&M.

Alabama will now prepare for a Week 6 home matchup against Texas A&M after taking down Arkansas on the road to remain undefeated. Keeping a zero in the loss column wasn’t easy through Week 5, as the Razorbacks made a strong push in the third quarter.

Despite the attempted comeback, the Crimson Tide stayed strong and earned the win. However, a win isn’t the only thing Nick Saban and his team will walk away with. A handful of lessons came from this contest.

Whether it be Jalen Milroe being thrust into action, Jahmyr Gibbs showing up, or the defense struggling to contain the run, there’s a lot that this team must work on if it wants to bring home national championship No. 19.

Here are five major takeaways from Alabama’s win over Arkansas.

Alabama uses 3 long runs to wreck Arkansas comeback

Alabama used 3 long runs to hold off Arkansas’ rally

Arkansas had scored 23 straight points. Alabama was without Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young, who went out in the first half with a shoulder injury.

A 28-0 lead dwindled to five points before the Crimson Tide offense turned on the jets. And they went full bore.

How about a trio of 70-plus yard runs in the final quarter as the Crimson Tide ruined the hopes of the home team for an iconic comeback.

First, backup QB Jalen Milroe for 77:

Jahmyr Gibbs for 72 yards:

Gibbs for 76 yards.

The Tide wound up leaving Fayetteville with a 49-26 win and Coach Nick Saban said Young had a sprained shoulder.

Report Card: Grading Alabama’s dominating Week 1 win over Utah State

Alabama handled Utah State with ease on Saturday night. Let’s take a look at how the Crimson Tide graded out in Week 1.

In a completely one-sided contest, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and Alabama dominated Utah State on Saturday night to the tune of 55-0.

[autotag]Bryce Young[/autotag] led things offensively for Alabama which didn’t seem to miss a beat despite losing its leading rushing and top two receivers from 2021.

Defensively the competition level may have not been what the Tide will see in the coming weeks, but anytime you can shut out an opponent you have to feel good about your defense.

Utah State head coach Blake Anderson had nothing but positive things to say about the 2022 version of the Crimson Tide. In his postgame press conference, Anderson had this to say about Alabama:

“So, I don’t want to point fingers anywhere. We physically got out-matched most of the night. I’m sure we made some mistakes, but they weren’t glaring. … We got beat by a better football with a lot of great athletes.”

Anderson’s compliments are not that surprising considering how well Alabama played right out of the gate. So, without further ado let’s get to the Week 1 report card for the Crimson Tide.
