Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva odds, picks and predictions

Breaking down Saturday’s Jake Paul vs. Anderson Silva cruiserweight fight, with boxing odds, picks and predictions.

In an 8-round cruiserweight bout, Jake Paul and Anderson Silva meet Saturday at Diamond Desert Arena in Glendale, Ariz. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Paul vs. Silva odds, and make our expert boxing picks and predictions.

The YouTube star Paul (5-0) steps into the ring looking for a 6th win to start his boxing career. The 25-year-old – nicknamed “The Problem Child” – has recorded 4 KO victories and 1 split-decision win against Tyron Woodley.

Paul is coming off a KO victory over Woodley in a rematch last December. Now, he finally gets the chance to face boyhood favorite Spider Silva.

This will be the 4th fight for Paul against a former MMA fighter, and Silva might be the most formidable. Silva dropped Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. via split decision in June 2021, and he is coming off a KO victory over Tito Ortiz last time out.

Paul vs. Silva picks and predictions

Records: Paul (5-0, 4 KOs) | Silva (3-1, 2 KOs)

Fight result (2-way line or moneyline)

It isn’t wishful thinking as there are a lot of people out there who cannot stand these fights and want the YouTube star Paul (-280) to get his come-uppance.

Me? I am not a hater.

OK, I was at first. Originally, this fight looked like it was going to be a joke. I caught the Paul-Nate Robinson fight on the undercard of the farcical Tyson-Roy Jones Jr. “bout.”

But since then, Paul has taken defeated Ben Askren and Woodley twice. Those are legit fighters, who have trained in combat sports all of their lives.

So, I was wrong about Paul initially. As a famous cinematic fighter once said, “If I can change, and you can change. We all can change.”

Paul has legit punching power and Silva will feel it. But “Spider” is tremendous defensively and will not errantly walk into one of those devastating punches.

Paul (-280) gets it done, but he isn’t a value play laying more than 2.8 times your potential return.

PASS on a 2- or 3-way line bet, and take PAUL BY DECISION (+245) in method of victory for a much better value.

Over/Under (O/U)

YES (+115): FIGHT TO GO THE DISTANCE is a pretty decent value as Silva isn’t going to get knocked out. While I am not saying this is not a serious fight, let’s just say Paul’s ride isn’t over yet, and there is still more money left to be made in the future.

If you think this is all a joke, and want to see Paul get dropped, Saturday is not your day.

Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley odds, picks and prediction

Breaking down Sunday’s Jake Paul vs. Tyron Woodley cruiserweight fight, with boxing odds, picks and predictions.

In a cruiserweight bout, Jake Paul and Tyron Woodley face each other Sunday at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse in Cleveland. The card is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. ET and will be televised on Showtime pay-per-view. Below, we break down the Paul vs. Woodley odds and lines, with boxing picks and predictions.

The YouTube star Paul will be fighting in his fourth professional bout, and this time it isn’t a joke. He’ll be taking on a 39-year-old Woodley, who is making his pro boxing debut.

Woodley is a former MMA welterweight champion, who successfully defended his strap on four occasions between 2016-18. He has proven he’s a very good fighter in the octagon. It will be interesting to see how that translates to the boxing ring.

Woodley won eight of his 26 professional career MMA fights by knockout, so Paul will obviously need to be much more careful. Paul has a history against mixed martial artists, taking care of Ben Askren via KO/TKO last time out, but a fight against Woodley is a major step up.

Paul vs. Woodley: Odds and lines

Odds via Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 3:54 a.m. ET.

  • Jake Paul -230 (bet $230 to win $100) | Tyron Woodley +160 (bet $100 to win $160)

New to sports betting?

Paul is a moderate favorite with an implied win probability of 69.70%. A $100 bet on the favorite would return a profit of just $43.48 with a victory as a chalk wager.

Paul vs. Woodley: Predictions and picks

There is a large faction of boxing fans who think that Paul (and his brother) fighting is a farce. However, Paul has proven to be a legitimate fighter. He has taken his training very seriously. It’s no longer a joke.

However, I think WOODLEY (+160), even in his pro boxing debut, is going to be too much to handle. He is a former mixed martial artist champion, who will hit harder than Askren or anybody else the YouTube star has faced.

Play the upset, if you want to call it that.

Jake Paul vs. Ben Askren: Tale of the tape

Jake Paul

Paul (2-0, 2 KOs) will be taking part in his third fight as a professional, and this will mark the first time he faces an opponent who has made a living in combat sports. The YouTube star and influencer knocked out fellow YouTuber AnEsonGib in his pro debut, and then he whipped former NBA player Nate Robinson on the Roy Jones Jr.-Mike Tyson Triller card in Nov. 2020.

Ben Askren

Askren (19-2 in MMA) has been successful at every stage of his mixed martial arts career. He has held titles in the Bellator Fighting Championships, the top level of Bellators and the One Championship company, too.

He made his UFC debut at UFC 235 March 2, 2019, and he submitted Robbie Lawler in the first round in a stunning upset. He was knocked out by Jorge Masvidal at UFC 239, and he was submitted by Demian Maia in the main event Oct. 26, 2019, in his last appearance in the octagon. He has battled hip injuries all throughout his career, and it appeared he was done and set for hip replacement surgery. Doctors determined he didn’t need that operation, but his MMA career has apparently come to a conclusion.

Paul vs. Askren: Odds, predictions and picks

If you have seen the weigh-ins and the staredown, PAUL (-175) looks like the professional boxer and a great physical specimen in amazing shape. Askren (+150) looks like a guy coming in after a long layoff, putting his dad bod on display. If you knew nothing about either fighter, just looking at Paul, you would choose him on optics alone.

Paul has taken this foray into boxing seriously, however. It isn’t just about how he looks, he has actually done a great job in the ring. But that has been against guys who haven’t fought for a living. His knockout of Robinson was a money maker and also a meme maker. Poor Nate Robinson.

He isn’t going to knock out Askren. It’s just not going to happen, but PAUL ON POINTS (+600) is awfully attractive. He won’t knock out a guy who has made his living in the octagon. Askren is tough as nails, but Paul will wow the judges on the technical aspects over an MMA guy boxing for the first time.
