Jake Garcia to join ThorSport Racing for 2024 NASCAR Truck Series season

Jake Garcia will join ThorSport Racing in the NASCAR Truck Series for the 2024 season after leaving McAnally-Hilgemann Racing.

[autotag]Jake Garcia[/autotag] announced a while back that he would leave McAnally-Hilgemann Racing at the conclusion of the 2023 season. Well, a follow-up announcement has finally taken place. [autotag]ThorSport Racing[/autotag] revealed on Wednesday morning that Garcia will run a full-time schedule in the NASCAR Truck Series during the 2024 season.

The 18-year-old driver piloted the No. 35 truck for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing and ran fairly well. Garcia finished his first full-time campaign with three top-5 finishes and nine top-10 finishes in 22 races. He missed the first race at Daytona International Speedway due to being 17 years old but was able to compete in the second race following his birthday.

Overall, this is a very good move for both Garcia and ThorSport Racing. The organization lost Hailie Deegan to the NASCAR Xfinity Series so it needed a replacement. Garcia was pretty impressive in his rookie season and could be competing for wins and a championship starting in 2024.

Jake Garcia not returning to McAnally-Hilgemann Racing in 2024

Jake Garcia announced on Monday afternoon that he will not return to the No. 35 truck for McAnally-Hilgemann Racing in 2024.

[autotag]Jake Garcia[/autotag] announced on Monday afternoon that he will not return to the No. 35 truck for [autotag]McAnally-Hilgemann Racing[/autotag] during the 2024 NASCAR season. Garcia is currently in his rookie season in the NASCAR Truck Series and has run well with two top-5 finishes, eight top-10 finishes, and a 14.6 average finishing position.

The driver of the No. 35 truck stated he was pursuing a new opportunity and would share the news in the near future. Garcia would have been teammates with Christian Eckes and Daniel Dye, who will join McAnally-Hilgemann Racing in the No. 43 truck next year. Now, he will likely be in another good ride in 2024.

Garcia would make sense for several race teams, including Spire Motorsports, who purchased Kyle Busch Motorsports in the Truck Series. Another team, such as Kaulig Racing, could make sense if he decided to make the move to the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Either way, Garcia will likely have a good seat for the 2024 season and it’ll be interesting to see where he ends up.

Top 2021 QB recruit Jake Garcia signs with Miami

The top remaining quarterback recruits in the class of 2021 is off the board.

The top remaining quarterback recruits in the class of 2021 is off the board.

After de-committing from USC earlier this month, four-star Loganville (Ga.) Grayson signal-caller landed on his feet Wednesday night, signing with Miami. He is the Hurricanes’ second-highest ranked quarterback signee in program history, according to 247Sports’ Andrew Ivins.

Garcia had been committed to USC since Sept. 2019, but backed off his pledge to the Trojans on Dec. 4. Despite his commitment to USC, Garcia kept his recruitment open and maintained a dialogue with schools across the country. USC signed two 2021 quarterbacks on Wednesday — Jaxson Dart and Miller Moss.

“I want to thank coach Helton, coach Harrell and coach Doege and the USC coaching staff for the opportunity to play at the next level,” Garcia wrote on Twitter. “However, after many discussions with my family and careful consideration, I am de-committing from USC. Doing so will allow me to honestly evaluate my options as the early signing date quickly approaches. No love has been lost for the USC family.”

A California native, Garcia transferred to Grayson to play his senior season with high school football in his home state on hold before enrolling at a college in January. Garcia’s senior season is still rolling, as Grayson is a semifinalist in the Georgia state playoffs.

“Loose, athletic frame with a pure stroke and effortless delivery,” 247Sports’ Greg Biggins said in his scouting report of Garcia. “He throws with touch and accuracy, can change speeds and has a nice feel for the position. Can throw with timing and has a nice feel for the position. Understands when to take some off and doesn’t try and throw all fastballs. Has tightened his release and gets the ball out quickly from different arm angles.”

Has improved athletically and looks comfortable rolling out and throwing on the run. Can continue to improve throwing a tighter ball and doesn’t spin it as consistently as you would like to see but don’t think it will be an issue for him moving forward. Projects as an impact upper-tier Power 5 starter and future NFL draft pick.”

Vols’ quarterback target decommits from USC

Tennessee Vols football recruiting news.

A 2021 Tennessee quarterback target has decommitted from USC.

Jake Garcia announced Thursday that he decommitted from the Trojans.

“After many discussions with my family and careful consideration, I am decommitting from USC,” Garcia said. “Doing so will allow me to honestly evaluate my options as the early signing date quickly approaches.”

Garcia’s former teammate at Narbonne High School in Harbor City, California is Vols’ freshman linebacker Sayeed Shah.

Garcia previously discussed Shah with Vols Wire.

“He’s a great player and teammate, and a great kid,” Garcia said of Shah. “He’s a leader and that’s something you can’t teach. He will help pick you up if you are down and help to keep you level-headed if you are too excited.”

Garcia was offered by Tennessee on Jan., 31, 2019. The early signing period takes place Dec. 16-18.

Vols have ‘a great player and teammate’ in Sayeed Shah

Vols have ‘a great player and teammate’ in Sayeed Shah.

KNOXVILLE — Tennessee is two days away from opening its 2020 season that has been altered due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The 2020 campaign will feature a 10-game SEC-only schedule. Contact tracing of COVID-19 will be at the forefront of the altered season and will place student-athletes who test positive in quarantine, resulting in missing games.

Non-scholarship players will provide more of a role within game week preparation and on game day this season.

Freshman linebacker Sayeed Shah can do just that for the Vols this season. The 6-foot-3, 233-pound freshman is from Narbonne High School in Harbor City, California.

Shah can play the SAM linebacker position and has the ability to come off the edge with good vision.

A look inside Tennessee’s latest recruiting pipeline with Rush Propst at Valdosta

He played high school football alongside USC quarterback commit Jake Garcia. Garcia transferred from Narbonne to Valdosta High School in Valdosta, Georgia since football is not being played this fall in California. The USC commit is playing for Rush Propst who is in his first season as head coach.

Garcia told Vols Wire that Tennessee has a team player in Shah this season.

“He’s a great player and teammate, and a great kid,” Garcia said of Shah. “He’s a leader and that’s something you can’t teach. He will help pick you up if you are down and help to keep you level-headed if you are too excited.”

Garcia was offered by Tennessee on January, 31, 2019.

USC recruiting: Trojans may lose QB Jake Garcia to Miami

USC Trojans quarterback commit Jake Garcia may be considering a switch to the University of Miami, according to some analysts.

When the USC Trojans landed a commitment from 2021 quarterback Jake Garcia, he immediately became the highest-rated recruit in a class that has continually been ranked among the top-10 in the country by various media outlets.

Now, however, some are beginning to question whether that commitment will hold, which would be a pretty big damper on coach Clay Helton’s recruiting prowess in this cycle.

The Miami Hurricanes have continued to make a strong push to add Garcia, and one recruit analyst has changed his prediction from USC to Miami – likely a product of Garcia’s decision to transfer to his fourth different high school, this one located in Valdosta, Georgia.

The move away form California and over to Georgia, coupled with the cancellation of the PAC-12 season and the commitment of another top quarterback in 2021, Miller Moss, has people understandably spooked that Garcia will decide to head elsewhere to continue his football career.

Time will tell, but USC is set at quarterback with Kedon Slovis for at least two more years, and Moss is expected to be an instant contributor if given the chance, so while Garcia would provide excellent competition at that spot, it’s a loss they could live without, if needed.

USC QB commit Jake Garcia transfers to 4th high school

USC Trojans commit Jake Garcia will transfer out of California to Valdosta, Georgia for his final year of high school football.

Jake Garcia, a class of 2021 commit for the USC Trojans at the quarterback position, is going to play his fourth and final high school season at Valdosta High School in Georgia.

It will be the fourth different high school for Garcia, a native of California who was set to play for his hometown school of La Habra this fall before the COVID-19 situation pushed the season back into January.

“I’m really excited about the decision,” Garcia told 247Sports. “For me, it was big to play as a senior. I need those game reps and this is going to be a big year for me mentally as well in terms of preparing for college. With not just California football shut down but the entire West Coast pretty much, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, etc, I knew I had to leave the region. Like I said, I think senior year is a really important time to learn and get better. This will be big for my development and I felt this was the best move for me to make long term.”

Garcia intends to graduate early and enroll at USC in the spring, making the transfer necessary to avoid missing his final season altogether.

For those worried a high schooler who has moved schools as rapidly as Garcia may waffle on his decision to attend USC, hopefully this will help:

“Yep, I’m still very solid in my commitment,” Garcia said. “The move to Georgia doesn’t change anything. I have communicated with the coaching staff and they supported my decision 110% as it is the best move to prepare me for the next level.”

Garcia is the No. 37 ranked player in the class of 2021 by 247Sports’ composite rankings, and he should compete with Miller Moss to be an impact signal-caller for the Trojans in the near future.

Report: USC commit Jake Garcia to play senior season in Georgia

A top recruit for USC is leaving SoCal to finish his high school career in Georgia.

There are many professional athletes who have played for four different teams. However, USC quarterback commit quarterback Jake Garcia appears to be in the rarefied air of playing for a quartet of high schools.

Garcia, a four-star prospect, is heading to Georgia to play for Valdosta. Score another one for bizarre events created by the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I’m really excited about the decision,” Garcia said. “For me, it was big to play as a senior. I need those game reps and this is going to be a big year for me mentally as well in terms of preparing for college.

“With not just California football shut down but the entire West Coast pretty much, Arizona, Nevada, Washington, etc, I knew I had to leave the region. Like I said, I think senior year is a really important time to learn and get better. This will be big for my development and I felt this was the best move for me to make long term.”

As for how Garcia picked Valodsta;

“That’s a big time program,” Garcia said. Football is huge in the South so I’m looking forward to the experience. I’m exited to see what Southern football is all about, plus I have family in Atlanta and they talked about what a great school Valdosta is and what great tradition they have.

“The facilities are amazing but it’s not just about football. They have a great academic reputation as well so it checked off all the boxes for me. I think the move will really benefit me as an early graduate and it will help prepare me when I get to college in January.”

The academic part is fascinating since Garcia plans to enroll in USC in January. That means he would spend about three months in the South.

Spending time at schools has not been a strength for Garcia, who has journeyed from high school to high school while building his reputation as a top quarterback.

Valdosta will be Garcia’s fourth high school. He played at Long Beach Poly (Calif.) as a freshman but transferred to Harbor City (Calif.) Narbonne after former Jackrabbit head coach Antonio Pierce left for Arizona State.

He spent the last two years at Narbonne but when former head coach Manny Douglas was forced to resign, Garcia transferred to La Habra.
