Charlotte missed a free throw, fumbled around, and still drained a ridiculous buzzer-beater to shock Davidson

Exactly like how they drew it up!

If, at first, you don’t succeed, try, try again. The Charlotte men’s basketball team learned that valuable lesson during a ridiculous finish during its Tuesday night tilt with Davidson.

With 12 seconds to go down a point, the 49ers attempted a free throw to tie the game. It didn’t go in, leading to a scramble to see who would get possession. The board went in Charlotte’s favor, with a 49er getting the ball out to the arc for one of his teammates to attempt the likely game-winning trey.

It bricked, and the ball went flying back down to the scrum. The 49ers regained possession again with mere seconds left on the clock, with one player falling to the ground and throwing it out for a last-ditch three attempt from junior guard Jackson Threadgill.

He banked the third shot of the sequence right as the buzzer went off, sealing the Charlotte win.

Threadgill, funny enough, went to Davidson Day School, which is in Davidson’s backyard. The hometown kid returned just to knock off the Wildcats, 68-66.
