Oklahoma 5-star quarterback commit Jackson Arnold has had quite the year. After the coaching change at Oklahoma, the Sooners appeared on Arnold’s radar due to his previous relationship with offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby while at Ole Miss.

It didn’t take long for Arnold to fill the void left by Malachi Nelson after his flip to follow Lincoln Riley to USC, becoming the first commitment in the 2023 class under Brent Venables (Joshua Bates committed under Riley and stayed committed).

A four-star prospect at the time of his commitment, Arnold’s profile has blown up in recent months. He was the Elite 11 MVP and then earned five-star status. In his senior season for Denton Guyer, he’s become must-see television.

In a primetime kickoff on ESPN, Thursday night, Jackson Arnold and his Guyer teammates rose to the occasion, defeating Texas High School powerhouse Allen 49-7. It was the biggest loss that Allen has suffered dating back to 2004, as far back as the Max Preps database goes.

Arnold was nothing short of spectacular on the evening, throwing for 338 yards and four touchdowns. He completed 89.6% of his passes and averaged 11.6 yards per attempt. He terrorized Allen on the ground as well, carrying the ball six times for 83 yards and a touchdown, including a 58-yard touchdown run.

Oklahoma’s 2023 recruiting class stood out this week with several big performances across the country.

The Oklahoma Sooners 2023 recruiting class had another big week under the lights to further excite the Oklahoma fan base. The top five recruiting class has players making cases for bumps in their star status but more importantly look like guys who will be playmakers in Norman.

Five-star quarterback Jackson Arnold had another big night for Denton Guyer. Arnold and his Denton Guyer teammates continued their undefeated season with a 62-7 win over Braswell on Friday night.

In other Texas high school football action, Colton Vasek did what Colton Vasek does, ruining the evening for Dripping Springs offensive linemen.

But Arnold and Vasek weren’t the only Oklahoma commits to have big games this week. Two of the more underrated players in the recruiting class, Erik McCarty and Kade McIntyre, were dominant for their squads leading to big nights in Oklahoma and Nebraska high school football action.

On the eve of his commitment, Sooner Nation took to Twitter to make one last push for 5-star DL David Hicks, trending with #HicksToNorman.

In less than 24 hours, the Oklahoma Sooners will find out where they stand with five-star defensive lineman [autotag]David Hicks[/autotag].

Hicks, one of the last high-profile five-star prospects still on the board, will commit on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at 3:30 p.m. CT on ESPN. Hicks would join an Oklahoma Sooners recruiting class that already includes five-star prospects, quarterback [autotag]Jackson Arnold[/autotag] and edge rusher [autotag]Adepoju Adebawore[/autotag].

The Sooners have been trending in a positive direction with David Hicks for some time but still have to stave off last-second recruitment pitches from Texas A&M, Michigan State, and Alabama.

Looking to make a final push, several recruits, including Arnold and 2023 center commit [autotag]Joshua Bates[/autotag] took to social media, along with many in Sooner Nation, to make their pitch using #HicksToNorman on Twitter.

Friday night is for high school football, and several Oklahoma 2023 commits stood out under the lights!

The Oklahoma Sooners No. 5 ranked 2023 recruiting class has provided a glimpse of what’s coming to Norman next year. In the early going, they’ve provided some fantastic moments for their squads and helped feed the excitement surrounding the Sooners class.

[autotag]Jackson Arnold[/autotag] has been must-see television whenever you can find him as he’s had a productive start to the season to help Denton Guyer get off to a 4-0 start. But he’s not the only one having a fantastic senior season thus far. OUDNA is showing up and showing out across the country, and on Friday night, several prospects turned in highlight-reel performances.

Oklahoma five-star quarterback commit Jackson Arnold is off to a tremendous start to his senior season with Denton Guyer.

After helping Guyer reach the Texas state championship game in his first season as a starter, Arnold is averaging four total touchdowns per game. Arnold has completed 65% of his passes for 832 yards, 10 touchdowns and zero interceptions. He leads Guyer in rushing with 133 yards on 16 attempts with three rushing touchdowns.

Guyer is 3-0 on the season and outscoring their opponents by an average score of 47-18. Up next is the 3-0 Prosper Eagles. Prosper holds wins over Euless Trinity, Sacshe, and Rockwell to start the season.

Oklahoma commit Jackson Arnold electric in Guyer’s 50-27 win Thursday night

Oklahoma Sooners five-star quarterback commit Jackson Arnold is off to a fantastic start to the season for Denton Guyer.

For months, Oklahoma 2023 commit, Jackson Arnold has seen his status rise. He won the elite 11 MVP award, earned consensus five-star status, and has helped Denton Guyer get off to a 3-0 start.

After making a trip to the Texas state championship game in 2021, Arnold and his Guyer teammates are on a roll to start the 2022 season in hopes of completing a championship run.

Through three games, Arnold’s completed 65% of his passes for 832 yards, 10 touchdowns, and zero interceptions. He also leads Guyer in rushing with 133 yards on 16 attempts with three rushing touchdowns.That’s more than 300 combined passing and rushing yards per game and four total touchdowns.

In Guyer’s win 50-27 over Lancaster, Arnold threw for 304 yards and three touchdowns and rushed for 22 yards and a touchdown.

Safe to say, the Oklahoma Sooners got one of the best, if not the best quarterbacks in the country in Jackson Arnold.

Sooners receive Rivals futurecast for 2024 QB Michael Hawkins

Oklahoma has landed its second prediction that has them landing the commitment of 2024 4-star QB Michael Hawkins.

We’ve talked in great detail at Sooners Wire about Oklahoma’s 2023 five-star quarterback commit Jackson Arnold. He’s had a heck of a year from a development standpoint and has gone from four-star to consensus five-star player in 2023.

However, the buck doesn’t stop there. With Jeff Lebby in charge of Oklahoma’s offensive endeavors, there are new philosophies on and off the field that differ from Lincoln Riley.

Riley was against recruiting quarterbacks in consecutive years. Jeff Lebby and head coach Brent Venables are taking a different approach. Both cited competition as a reason for it and in many ways it’s hard to disagree.

With that, Oklahoma’s already circling a few quarterbacks for the 2024 class despite the commitment of one of 2023’s best signal-callers.

Oklahoma received another favorable prediction for 2024 quarterback and Sooners legacy Michael Hawkins. Parker Thune issued a crystal ball projection minutes after Hawkins announced his Oklahoma offer. This time it’s Josh McCuistion of SoonersScoop.com providing a Rivals futurecast favoring the Sooners.

Hawkins is the son of Mike Hawkins, a former cornerback at Oklahoma during the 2002 season. The defensive coordinator for that 2002 team? Current Oklahoma head coach Brent Venables. Lebby was a student assistant during that 2002 season as well.

Hawkins is a dual-threat QB and would fit well in Jeff Lebby’s system. He has the athleticism to make plays in the QB run game with his feet but has a lively arm and throws a beautiful deep ball. Hawkins is a four-star across most recruiting services, but he still has two full seasons of high school ball remaining.

USA TODAY High School Sports‘ Friday Night Notes is a weekly high school football recruiting recap that looks at the latest news from around the country—from the Class of 2023 to ’24 and beyond.

We begin in Denton, Texas, where one of the top quarterback recruits of the class of 2023 put on a show Thursday night in his season debut. Denton Guyer starting quarterback Jackson Arnold has committed to playing his college ball at Oklahoma, and Sooners fans should be salivating at what he put on tape last night.

In a 47-14 win over Rockwell-Heath (Texas), the five-star recruit posted some Sportscenter-worthy highlight plays.

Arnold threw three touchdown passes, including this 63-yard bomb.

Later on, Arnold also ran for a 64-yard touchdown.

Arnold is ranked No. 14 in the country and he’s the No. 5 quarterback in his class. More performances like this will have him moving up those rankings soon…

Oklahoma five-star QB commit Jackson Arnold dazzles in first game of season

In the first game of his senior season, five-star QB commit Jackson Arnold puts on a show throwing for 3 touchdowns and running for another.

After an entire off-season that saw him go from a four-star quarterback prospect to five-star status and a commitment to the University of Oklahoma, Jackson Arnold finally took to the field Thursday evening to kick off the final season of his high school career. It was a dominant effort from him and his Denton Guyer team, who have state championship aspirations again after going to the state title game the last two years.

Arnold put on a clinic showing off the dual-threat ability that was incredibly enticing to Oklahoma offensive coordinator Jeff Lebby. Arnold threw for three touchdowns and used his legs to take a zone read 64 yards to the house for a fourth touchdown as Denton Guyer cruised to a 47-14 win over Rockwall Heath.

One of Arnold’s touchdown throws went to 2024 recruit Eli Bowen, a two-way player for Guyer who is also being recruited by Oklahoma and is the younger brother of 2023 safety recruit Peyton Bowen, who the Sooners have been trying to flip from Notre Dame for months.

On3 Recruiting recently released an updated look at the 2023 class. Where does Oklahoma land in their team recruiting rankings?

The Oklahoma Sooners are sitting pretty with the 2023 recruiting class in the final full week of August. As things stand on August 21, they have 20 players pledged to join them next year, led by five-star quarterback Jackson Arnold.

EDGE rusher Adepoju Adebawore recently received five-star status from On3 Recruiting and in the 247Sports Composite, giving Oklahoma their first recruiting class with two five-star players since the 2019 cycle.

This Friday, August 26, targets Makari Vickers and Anthony Evans are expected to make their commitments. As things stand right now, the Sooners look to be the leaders in the recruiting battle. A lot can change in a week, but things are looking good for Brent Venables and his staff.

In addition to those pledges, the Sooners are still in a favorable position for four-star wide receiver [autotag]Malachi Coleman[/autotag] and five-star defensive lineman [autotag]David Hicks[/autotag]. Additionally, Oklahoma is still in the thick of it for blue chip running back Stacey Gage.
