Jack Velling spoke to the media on Tuesday:

Jack Velling had one of the best performances of the season on Saturday in the loss against Michigan, catching 4 passes for 40 yards. Velling is starting to string better performances together as the Spartans coaching staff continues to scheme more plays for him.

Velling talked to the media about his first experience in the Michigan rivalry from this past weekend, and what he is seeing on the upcoming matchup with Indiana.

Michigan State football’s tough stretch of games continued with another double-digit loss on Friday.

Michigan State was dominated by No. 6 Oregon on Friday night, losing by the final score of 31-10. The Spartans kept it close for most of the first half thanks to a few key defensive stops in the red zone, but eventually the Ducks blew the game open for the easy win.

With the loss, Michigan State drops to 3-3 overall and 1-2 in Big Ten play. The Spartans have lost three straight games and will be on a bye next week before welcoming Iowa to Spartan Stadium on October 19.

Michigan State tight end Jack Velling has been named to the preseason Mackey Award watchlist for the nation’s best tight end.

Velling is entering his first season with the Spartans after transferring from Oregon State. Velling recorded 438 receiving yards and eight touchdowns for the Beavers last season and is considered to be a top offensive threat for Michigan State this upcoming season.

Michigan State could have the nation’s top tight end if you ask new head coach Jonathan Smith.

During Big Ten Football Media Days this past week, Smith was asked about Jack Velling and he provided a very strong statement about his star tight end. Here’s what Smith had to say about Velling — courtesy of X account Michigan State Content:

“He’s got natural hands, can separate, catch contested balls. He’s got a chance to be one of the best tight ends in the country.”

Velling followed Smith from Oregon State this offseason, and was considered one of the Spartans’ top gets in the transfer portal. In two seasons with the Beavers, Velling recorded 45 receptions for 719 yards and 11 touchdowns. Eight of those 11 touchdowns came this past season with the Beavers.

MSU has announced the three players that will represent the program at upcoming Big Ten Football Media Days

Michigan State has announced the three players that will represent the program at upcoming Big Ten Football Media Days.

Running back Nate Carter, defensive back Dillon Tatum and tight end Jack Velling are the three chosen players that will head to Indianapolis for Big Ten Media Days in a few weeks.  The event will be held from July 23 – 25, with the Spartans being featured on July 24.

Michigan State’s new coaching staff landed a home run when they were able to fend off Washington to bring Oregon State transfer tight end Jack Velling over to East Lansing from Corvallis.

Velling has got a lot of praise for his outstanding play in his first two seasons with Oregon State. Now, it looks like the National Football League is taking notice.

Michigan State beat Washington for the commitment of elite tight end transfer Jack Velling

Michigan State has won a huge transfer battle, going head to head with Washington for elite Oregon State tight end transfer Jake Velling. Velling has made his decision and he is going green, choosing the Spartans over the Huskies.

Velling will come to East Lansing with two years of eligibility. In his two seasons with Oregon State, Velling caught 45 passes for 719 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Velling joins his QB, Aidan Chiles, in Michigan State’s transfer portal class in 2024.
