Chargers’ Tom Telesco provides positive update on J.C. Jackson

J.C. Jackson is making progress in his recovery.

Chargers general manager Tom Telesco is optimistic that J.C. Jackson will be ready to participate in training camp this summer at his pre-draft media availability on Monday.

“That’s the hope, yeah,” Telesco said. “We’re still about three months from there, but that’s the hope.”

Jackson sustained a ruptured patellar tendon in Week 7 against the Seahawks and was sidelined for the remainder of the season.

Jackson has been using his personal Instagram to document his rehab process, which has appeared to be trending in a positive direction. He was spotted doing individual work with a trainer when Los Angeles began their voluntary offseason workout program last week.

“Really good. Really good. He looks great for where he is right now,” Telesco said. “Now he’s still got some ways to go but I saw him running in the weight room the other day on the treadmill. He looked really good.”

For now, Michael Davis, who had a stellar 2022 season, will start on the outside alongside Asante Samuel Jr. Ja’Sir Taylor is slated to be the starting slot corner. The depth behind them is thin. This is a position that the Chargers could upgrade in the draft.
