Mike McDaniel has injury updates on injured Dolphins at bye week

Updates on a ton of injured Dolphins heading into the week off.

The Miami Dolphins have had issues with keeping their players on the field throughout their 2023 campaign.

Luckily, Week 10 brings Mike McDaniel’s team some time off, so some of those players who are dealing with bumps and bruises can rehab, relax and recover before the home stretch of the season.

McDaniel spoke to the media on both Monday and Tuesday this week and provided updates on a number of his players before the team adjourns for the week.

Dolphins activate CB Nik Needham, place OL Isaiah Wynn on IR

Miami loses an OL, but they get back a CB.

The Miami Dolphins have had a bunch of moving parts all season, as they’ve been dealing with injuries nearly every week.

On Tuesday, the Dolphins placed left guard Isaiah Wynn on injured reserve.

Wynn, 27, had been playing really well in his first year in Miami before suffering a quad injury early in their loss to the Philadelphia Eagles during Sunday Night Football.

Lester Cotton stepped up in Wynn’s place on Sunday, but it will be interesting to see if Robert Jones makes a push to be the starter for the next four games.

To fill Wynn’s spot on the roster, the Dolphins activated cornerback Nik Needham, who had been on the PUP list since training camp, as he recovered from the torn Achilles he suffered last season.

Needham’s 21-day practice window was set to expire on Wednesday, and if Miami hadn’t activated him, he would’ve been forced to miss the remainder of the season.

There’s no clarity on whether or not Needham will see the field this weekend against the New England Patriots, but it would be nice to see him get into action again after he was playing well before his injury in 2021 and early in 2022.

Mike McDaniel updates on injured Dolphins following Eagles game

Miami’s HC had some health updates after four player went down on SNF.

The Miami Dolphins have been far from the luckiest team in the league when it comes to injuries this year, and that didn’t stop during their Sunday night loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

Wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, left guard Isaiah Wynn, safety Jevon Holland and linebacker David Long all missed snaps throughout the contest with different ailments.

On Monday, Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel met with the media and provided updates on their individual statuses following the game.

Dolphins LG Isaiah Wynn leaves game vs. Eagles with injury

Miami loses another offensive lineman.

The Miami Dolphins entered their Sunday night battle with the Philadelphia Eagles already down two starting offensive linemen, as left tackle Terron Armstead is on injured reserve and center Connor Williams has been dealing with a groin injury.

In the first quarter, they suffered another loss, as left guard Isaiah Wynn went down on a third-down play that resulted in an incomplete pass. Wynn was slow to get off of the field, and he was then brought into the blue medical tent on the sidelines.

It’s unclear exactly how long Wynn will be out, and if he misses time, who will take his place.

UPDATE: Miami has announced that Wynn is questionable to return with a quad injury. Lester Cotton has come in at left guard in the meantime.

Dolphins LG Isaiah Wynn leaves with injury vs. Giants

Miami loses another starting offensive lineman.

In the fourth quarter of the Miami Dolphins’ Week 5 matchup with the New York Giants at Hard Rock Stadium, the team had a 31-13 lead.

While things were going rather well, left guard Isaiah Wynn went down with a neck injury that caused him to be taken to the blue medical tent.

The former Patriot was replaced by Liam Eichenberg, who started at center last week.

The team announced that Wynn’s return is questionable.

UPDATE: Wynn retuned later in the game.

76 days till Patriots season opener: Every player to wear No. 76 for New England

Here’s a list of every Patriots player to wear the No. 76 jersey number.

Former New England Patriots’ offensive and defensive linemen remain the focal points as we’ve now reached the 76th day in this countdown series for the Patriots’ regular season opener.

Today, this countdown features every Patriots player to wear the No. 76 jersey throughout the franchise’s history.

The most recent player to wear the number was former first-round draft pick and Super Bowl champion Isaiah Wynn. Things fizzled out in New England for the former Georgia standout offensive tackle, and he ended signing a one-year deal with the Miami Dolphins in free agency.

However, Wynn isn’t the only former Super Bowl champion on this list. Here’s every Patriots player that wore the No. 76 jersey:

Analyzing terms of new Dolphins OT Isaiah Wynn’s contract

The dead money likely means he’s guaranteed a spot.

After the 2023 NFL draft, the Miami Dolphins felt that they still had holes along the offensive line, despite drafting Michigan’s Ryan Hayes in the seventh round.

With this, Miami signed former New England Patriots offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn. According to Over the Cap, the two sides agreed to a one-year deal worth $2.3 million.

The former Georgia Bulldog will earn $1.08 million in base salary, which is fully guaranteed. He’s also getting $880,000 in a signing bonus and another $340,000 in per-game roster bonuses.

This contract likely means that Wynn will be on the roster when the regular season rolls around, barring an injury or a precipitous drop in ability. Cutting Wynn would cost Miami $1.96 million in a dead cap hit while they’d only save $180,000.

As Mike McDaniel said earlier in the offseason, Wynn is getting work at both tackle and guard – the two spots that the team could use the help. There’s a strong chance that Wynn, as a first-round pick just a few years back, grabs a starting spot on the line before the season opener.

3 things to know about new Dolphins OT Isaiah Wynn

Get to know the former first-round pick.

The Miami Dolphins addressed one of their biggest needs remaining on the roster, as they signed offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn on Monday.

Wynn was originally selected by the New England Patriots in the first round of the 2018 draft. He was New England’s first of two picks in the top 32 that year, as they also selected Wynn’s college teammate, and former Dolphin, Sony Michel.

While it’s unclear whether or not Wynn will be the starting right tackle for the 2023 season, he should at least be in the competition with Austin Jackson and Cedric Ogbuehi.

Here are a few things that fans should know about Wynn before he dons a Dolphins jersey for the first time.

Dolphins OT Isaiah Wynn comments on facing Patriots in 2023

Dolphins OT Isaiah Wynn is appreciative of his time in New England, but he’s also excited for a chance to face his former Patriots teammates.

Former first-round draft pick Isaiah Wynn is settling into life with the Miami Dolphins after spending his previous four seasons with the New England Patriots.

A disappointing end to his tenure in New England led to him lingering on the free agent market before finally signing a one-year, $2.3 million dollar deal to take his talents to South Beach.

Wynn spoke with the media on Tuesday and commented on what it will be like when lining up against his former teammates in 2023.

“They’re the team that drafted me, so I appreciate everybody in that organization from the staff to the players,” said Wynn, per FOX Sports’ Henry McKenna. “I thank them. My time was good there, and then it’s going to be fun playing against them because especially seeing them twice a year being on the opposite side; being there previously, you play against guys that may have already been there and now I’m on the other side now. So, it’s always a fun camaraderie. We’ll see how it all plays out for sure.”

Wynn’s run didn’t go as expected with the Patriots, but he wasn’t a bad player.

His biggest problem was a lack of availability. The team could never count on him to stay healthy consistently enough for things to work out. Yes, the 2022 season was an absolute mess on the field, but that was the case for a lot of Patriots players with the team’s offensive coaching struggles.

Perhaps a change of scenery will lead to renewed hope for Wynn on his NFL journey.

Isaiah Wynn’s new reported deal comes with less money and uncertainty

Here’s the reported details on Isaiah Wynn’s new deal with the Dolphins.

[anyclip pubname=”2103″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8036″]

Former New England Patriots offensive tackle Isaiah Wynn didn’t get the $5 million per year contract he posted as the base line price for his services back in March.

Instead, he signed with the rival Miami Dolphins on a one-year, $2.3 million deal with a max of $2.7 million in incentives.

So that’s a considerable drop-off from the long-term deal Wynn was probably hoping to get. The Dolphins also haven’t stepped up with any hefty guarantees to solidify Wynn’s position on the roster. From the looks of it, they are simply dipping their toes in the water and taking a flier on the former first-round draft pick.

Wynn fell off a cliff in his final season with the Patriots.

Granted, his entire run with the team was marred with injuries, but there were moments when he flashed franchise starting potential. But throughout the 2022 season, he struggled with penalties and pass blocking.

According to Pro Football Focus, his overall pass-blocking grade for the year was 52.8 with his worst game coming against the Cleveland Browns, when he had a 5.0 grade.

Wynn could be heading towards a make-or-break training camp this summer in an effort to keep his NFL career alive.
