Titans GM Jon Robinson talks Vic Beasley, Desmond King, much more

Jon Robinson gave some insight into the Titans’ recent moves.

Tennessee Titans general manager Jon Robinson spoke to the media on Wednesday morning via Zoom and had a ton of topics to go over after the team made some big moves on Tuesday.

Among those moves was the decision to release cornerback Johnathan Joseph and long snapper Beau Brinkley, and the team notified outside linebacker Vic Beasley that he’d be released on Wednesday.

While it was obvious why the team made those moves, Robinson gave a little more insight into them, as well as revealing the inner-workings of what went into signing Beasley and why he was late to camp.

On top of that, Robinson shared his thoughts on the progress of 2020 first-round pick and offensive tackle, Isaiah Wilson, as well as what he thinks about outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney and the addition of cornerback Desmond King II, who was acquired via trade on Monday.

Here’s what Robinson had to say about all of those topics:

Titans’ Mike Vrabel gives update on Adoree’ Jackson, Isaiah Wilson

Adoree’ Jackson did not participate in practice on Friday after taking part in the last five.

Tennessee Titans cornerback Adoree’ Jackson is still on the comeback trail from a knee injury that has kept him out the entire season thus far.

After practicing all three days last week following his being designated to return from IR, Jackson practiced on Wednesday and Thursday this week, but did not practice on Friday and has yet to be activated.

Meanwhile, Titans 2020 first-round pick, Isaiah Wilson, got in his first full week of practice and appears to be making at least some progress.

Vrabel explained that Jackson being held out of practice was a decision made by the coaches and trainers, but didn’t say specifically if it was just a rest day or if Jackson had a setback.

With this latest development, it would seem unlikely that Jackson will be activated in time to play on Sunday. The Titans look like they’ll have to weather the storm for one more week.

As for Wilson, Vrabel notes that he is making progress, but still needs to improve in certain areas.

The Titans recently promoted swing tackle David Quessenberry to the 53-man roster, so chances are Wilson will be inactive once again in Week 8. Still, it’s good to see he’s at least back on track after several missteps.

Titans OT Isaiah Wilson’s court date pushed back to 2021

Isaiah Wilson was arrested on suspicion of DUI back in September.

Tennessee Titans offensive tackle and 2020 first-round pick Isaiah Wilson was originally scheduled to appear in court on October 7 after being arrested for DUI back in September, but that court date has now been moved back to next year.

According to Brinley Hineman of the Tennessean, Wilson’s court date has been pushed back to February 1, 2021, which is six days before Super Bowl LV.

That means that the Titans should have Wilson for the remainder of the season, and any punishment he might incur likely won’t come until next year.

While that’s good for the short term, the Titans probably would have been better off getting things out of the way this season, as Wilson isn’t expected to have much, if any impact on the field during his rookie campaign.

It has been a rough start to Wilson’s tenure in Nashville. Not only was he arrested for the DUI, but he also has been on the Reserve/COVID-19 list since September 6, his second stint on it. He has yet to make his Titans debut.

Earlier in the week, Titans head coach Mike Vrabel said that it was possible Wilson could return to practice this week, but of course the team has to get past the outbreak of COVID-19 it is experiencing first in order to actually get back into their building and start practicing.

Titans ‘hopeful’ Adoree’ Jackson, Isaiah Wilson can practice this week

Jackson and Wilson have not suited up for the Titans this season.

Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel didn’t go into specifics, but he did say he was ‘hopeful’ that cornerback Adoree’ Jackson and 2020 first-round pick, offensive lineman Isaiah Wilson, can return to practice this week.

Jackson was placed on injured reserve prior to the Week 1 game thanks to a knee injury. Wilson has been on the Reserve/COVID-19 list since September 6, his second stint.

“We’re hopeful that they can maybe practice. We’ll see where they’re at,” Vrabel said, according to Erik Bacharach of the Tennessean. “Hopefully those are two good candidates that can get back to practice.”

The last we heard about Jackson was a report from Terry McCormick of Titan Insider, who said he was hearing the Titans’ No. 1 corner could be out another two to four weeks.

That would be horrible news for Tennessee’s defense, which has struggled in both facets to start the season and desperately needs Jackson back as soon as possible.

Wilson’s return isn’t as pressing. Barring something unforeseen, he’s going to play a reserve role for the Titans in 2020, with Dennis Kelly playing well at right tackle and Ty Sambrailo being the first tackle off the bench.

Along with Jackson, another big name we’ll be keeping an eye on is wide receiver A.J. Brown, who has missed the last two games. The last we heard, Brown’s bone bruise on his knee wasn’t responding well to treatment and it looks like he’s on track to miss another game.

Titans’ Mike Vrabel addresses Isaiah Wilson’s arrest

Vrabel believes Wilson is a good person who has made some mistakes.

Tennessee Titans 2020 first-round pick and offensive lineman Isaiah Wilson has no doubt had a rough start to his tenure in Nashville, but head coach Mike Vrabel certainly isn’t ready to give up on him.

Wilson was arrested on suspicion of DUI on September 11 in what was the latest and most serious misstep in a series of them that the rookie has made.

On Tuesday, Vrabel addressed the situation, saying that he believes Wilson isn’t a bad person, and as long he is willing to improve himself off the field moving forward, the team is going to continue working with him, per Terry McCormick of Titan Insider.

“We’re comfortable with the person that we brought in here. Mistakes, again, we’ve been through this. Me personally, obviously kids being in college, coaching in college, there’s good people that make mistakes and there’s bad people. I don’t think that Isaiah’s a bad person,” Vrabel said. “I do think that part of what we do as coaches is to be able to get these guys to help us and help the team win, but it’s also about helping them off the field and their growth and the maturity and the men that they become.

“Certainly we don’t condone that type of behavior whatsoever. It’s unacceptable. But as long as there’s an honest effort to improve, we’re going to put forth that effort as a coaching staff and as an organization to help any player with any issues that they have.”

Wilson, who is currently on the Covid-19 list for the second time, also had a run-in with Tennessee State University police back in August after an off-campus party he was attending was broken up, leading to his receiving a trespass warning. Wilson considered jumping off a second-story balcony to evade police, per the report.

The Titans invested a lot in Wilson with taking him No. 29 overall and there is a lot of potential there, so it comes as no surprise the team isn’t giving up on him. Had he been a mid- to late-round pick, things might be different.

The important thing now is for the Titans to help Wilson in any way they can so he can get his life — and less importantly, his career — on track and avoid the kinds of mistakes he has made already.

The 21-year-old needs guidance in order to help him mature, and thankfully he’s on a team with a strong culture that can provide it to him.

Titans release statement on arrest of Isaiah Wilson

The Titans have released a statement after the arrest of Isaiah Wilson broke.

Tennessee Titans offensive lineman and 2020 first-round pick Isaiah Wilson’s already rocky start with his new team just got worse after it was discovered he was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Friday night.

While it is certainly the biggest, this is just the latest misstep for Wilson, who was also given a trespass warning back in August after an off-campus party he was attending was broken up by Tennessee State University police.

Shortly after the news broke of Wilson’s arrest, the Titans issued this statement:

“We are aware of the situation. This is not conduct that is indicative of the character of our football team and we are working through details on how to proceed.”

The aforementioned issues haven’t been the only ones the 21-year-old has seen since being taken with the No. 29 overall pick in April’s draft.

Wilson not only began training camp on the Reserve/COVID-19 list, but he was placed there once again recently, where he remains. ESPN’s Turron Davenport also noted how Wilson had conditioning issues in camp.

Tennessee Titans OT Isaiah Wilson arrested for DUI

Former Georgia football OT Isaiah Wilson, selected by the Tennessee Titans in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft, is arrested for DUI.

Former Georgia offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson, who was selected 29th overall by the Tennessee Titans in the 2020 NFL Draft, has been arrested Friday night for a DUI.

Wilson was arrested Friday night at 11:29 p.m., booked at 12:44 a.m. on Saturday morning and bonded out of jail at 1:28 a.m. Sources confirmed that Wilson blew a BAC of 0.113 at the time he was pulled over. The legal driving limit in Tennessee is .08.

“We are aware of the situation,” the Titans released in a statement following the news. “This is not conduct that is indicative of the character of our football team and we are working through details on how to proceed.”

The 6-foot-6, 350 pound Wilson has been placed on the COVID-19/Reserve list for Tennessee twice now.  Wilson has been expected to seriously compete for the Titans right tackle position this season.

Tennessee kicks off their season Monday night at the Denver Broncos.

Titans’ Isaiah Wilson arrested on suspicion of DUI on Friday night

Wilson was a first-round pick of the Titans in 2020.

Tennessee Titans offensive lineman and 2020 first-round pick Isaiah Wilson was arrested on suspicion of DUI on Friday night.

Buck Reising of AtoZ Sports Nashville was the first to report the news, and it has since been confirmed by both ESPN’s Adam Schefter and NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

Wilson was arrested at 11:29 p.m. on Friday and booked at 12:44 a.m. early Saturday. Reising also reports that Wilson blew a 0.107 and 0.113 on his breathalyzer test, which is above the state’s legal limit of .08.

The Titans released a brief statement on the matter.

“We are aware of the situation. This is not conduct that is indicative of the character of our football team and we are working through details on how to proceed.”

This is just the latest misstep for Wilson since being drafted. Wilson also received a trespass warning from Tennessee State University police back in August after a party he was attending was broken up.

The Georgia product is currently on the Reserve/COVID-19 list for the second time. He could now be looking at some kind of suspension.

Titans make 4 roster moves, including placing Isaiah Wilson on COVID-19 list

For Titans rookie Isaiah Wilson, this is his second stint on the COVID-19 list.

The Tennessee Titans announced four more roster moves on Sunday, one of which included placing rookie offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson on the Reserve/COVID-19 list.

On top of the move to place Wilson on the COVID-19 list, the Titans also placed defensive back Dane Cruikshank on IR and agreed to terms with cornerback Chris Milton and running back Senorise Perry.

Milton and Perry will join Tennessee’s active roster, taking the spots originally occupied by Cruikshank and Wilson.

This is the second time Wilson has been put on the COVID-19 list. He started off training camp there before later being removed. Players on that list have either contracted the virus or come in contact with someone who has.

It remains to be seen if Wilson will be ready in time for the Titans’ season-opener on September 14. Thankfully for Tennessee, they aren’t depending on him to be the starter at right tackle, as all signs are pointing to Dennis Kelly winning the job.

Cruikshank had missed several practices in a row, and on Saturday Paul Kuharsky reported the defensive back was expected to have a brief stint on IR, so this isn’t a surprise.

Milton and Perry were on the Titans’ roster during training camp, but did not make the initial 53-man roster when cuts were announced on Saturday.

Taylor Lewan does hilarious nature show spoof with sleeping Isaiah Wilson

This is the second time Lewan has caught Wilson napping in a tub.

It seems like Tennessee Titans left tackle Taylor Lewan is always around and ready to record when rookie offensive tackle Isaiah Wilson falls asleep in one of the team’s tubs.

Lewan has already caught Wilson napping once, and he was ready with his camera on Tuesday after practice when the rookie nodded out in a tub yet again.

But this time the veteran turned the video into a hilarious nature show spoof, which is fitting considering it features a man with the nickname “Panda”.

Check it out.

In case you missed the first video Lewan shot of Wilson catching up on some “Z’s”, here it is.

If I were a betting man, I’d put my money on Lewan being the kind of guy who would draw on your face if you fell asleep first at a sleepover.

While Wilson looks peaceful napping, he is an absolute beast on the field, as evidenced by this clip of him tossing 6-foot-2, 245-pound tight end MyCole Pruitt like a rag doll at practice.

Now we know why Lewan doesn’t disturb Wilson too much when he’s napping.

The rookie has been hard at work during training camp and is vying for the starting right tackle job with veteran Dennis Kelly, so there’s no issue with him getting some extra rest, even if it comes in a weird place.
