Notre Dame football: Irish to wear green vs. Ohio State!

The Irish will wear green in their showdown vs. Ohio State this September!

It’s going to be one of the biggest games Notre Dame Stadium has hosted in quite some time and it’ll be greeted with the Fighting Irish wearing green uniforms.  Announced this St. Patrick’s Day, the Irish will wear green as they welcome Ohio State to South Bend on September 23.

Notre Dame very possibly will be a top 10 team to start the year.  A quick look at their schedule says that they should be unbeaten headed into the showdown with the Buckeyes.  Ohio State figures to be a preseason top-five team and unbeaten when late September comes around.

Notre Dame will be looking to end what is a five game losing streak against the Buckeyes.

Check out the best pictures of Notre Dame wearing green over the years below (please note it doesn’t feature every game, but a few from each that we had in our photo archives)!

Notre Dame football adds names to back of jerseys (for this week at least)

“I don’t care if they play in purple and have someone else’s name on their back, just win baby” – Me if this game is close in the 3rd quarter

We’ve known for a couple of months now that Notre Dame was going to wear green during the “Irish Wear Green” game for 2022, a first, as ridiculous as that sounds.  What we didn’t know was that there would be a slight twist to the green jerseys for this game as they’ll feature last names on the back.

The Notre Dame football Twitter account showed off what the Irish uniforms will look like on Saturday and they have that feature that is usually only reserved for bowl games.  Take a look at the set of photos that Notre Dame’s social media team provided below.

I know some people really like these but the white letters now have me wondering if white numerals wouldn’t look (significantly) better.

Whatever the case or your thoughts on the green jerseys, just get a stinking win on Saturday.

Please.

Notre Dame Football announces when the Irish will wear green in 2022

The Irish will wear green in 2022

Green jerseys you say? Well, we now know when Notre Dame will suit up in an Irish wear green. It will happen on September 17th, when the Irish are set to face-off against California at 2pm EST.

The way that the announcement came out was quite interesting. Head coach [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] had his hand in the video released by Notre Dame Football’s official Twitter account. It seems like Freeman had a lot of fun with making this video as he reads some fans rants about the Irish wearing green. Take look at the video yourself to see how Freeman takes the reins and announces when the Irish will wear green.

Purcell Pavilion sold out for Notre Dame’s game against Duke

Think people are excited for this game?

With Notre Dame on such a hot tear lately, many have been wondering when Purcell Pavilion will start getting more fannies in its seats. The student section has been more packed lately, but the number of fans in the rest of the arena has left a little to be desired. Well, that won’t be the case for at least one night. People have realized how big the Irish’s game against Duke will be, and they want to be in the house for it:

Granted, some probably are there to watch Mike Krzyzewski in South Bend for one last time. Still, even that’s the case, there will be large contingent of Irish fans. If you don’t believe that, just look at these:

Oh, and if you’re wondering about all the green, here’s why:

You don’t have to be at the game to wear green either. The South Bend Cubs are doing their part:

With this game being shown on ESPN, a large TV audience will tune in to watch as big a moment for Notre Dame basketball as there has been in some time. To make it even better, Purcell Pavilion will be rocking like nothing else. Gosh, is it a good time to be following this program.

Look: Notre Dame Shows Off Camping World Bowl Uniforms

What we don’t see is if the commitment to green in the gloves and cleats will be made like in last year’s Cotton Bowl or if it’ll be the look we’ve seen the

Does Notre Dame show up and play to their potential today or do they sleepwalk through the Camping World Bowl against Iowa State?

If it’s at all like I feel this morning it will be a slow start to put it nicely. Regardless, they’ll look good doing it as they’ll be in their road uniforms and since it’s a postseason game, names will be on the back.

What we don’t see is if the commitment to green in the gloves and cleats will be made like in last year’s Cotton Bowl or if it’ll be the look we’ve seen the Irish have in road games all season.

For what it’s worth (nothing, actually) Notre Dame has not won a bowl game while wearing white since the 2010 Sun Bowl as they beat Miami 33-17 in a game the Irish dominated, leading 30-3 entering the fourth quarter.

Alright, enough about fashion. Let’s put the ball in the air already and get to kickoff.
