Analyzing Sunday’s Wisconsin at Iowa odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Wisconsin Badgers (7-2, 1-0 Big Ten) visit Carver–Hawkeye Arena Sunday to take on the No. 24 Iowa Hawkeyes (7-2, 0-0). Tip is set for 6:30 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Wisconsin vs. Iowa odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

Iowa destroyed Iowa State 75-56, covering as 3-point home favorites Thursday. The cover pushed Iowa’s against-the-spread (ATS) record to 6-3 on the season.

The Hawkeyes are a perfect 5-0 straight up at home as well. F Kris Murray — the twin brother of former Hawkeye and 2022 NBA Draft 4th overall pick Keegan Murray — leads Iowa in scoring (19.4 points per game) and rebounds (10.1 RPG).

As for the Badgers, they are 7-2 ATS this season and are 1-0 straight up on the road. They have covered 5 of their last 6 games. Wisconsin is coming off a 64-59 conference home victory over No. 13 Maryland Tuesday, covering as a 2.5-point favorite.

Wisconsin at Iowa picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa 66, Wisconsin 64

Moneyline

PASS.

Wisconsin at (+150) is enticing, but considering it hasn’t played a difficult road game this season, I’d stay away. However, the Badgers did take down Marquette 80-77 in overtime Dec. 3 in their lone road contest.

Against the spread

LEAN WISCONSIN +4.5 (-115).

The Badgers have a solid roster and have 3 players averaging double figures.

Also, they have played better against top competition than the Hawkeyes have. Wisconsin lost to Kansas 69-68 on a neutral court in overtime. It has taken down USC, Maryland and Dayton, covering in all 3 as a favorite of 3.5 points or fewer.

Iowa lost 74-62 to No. 15 Duke on a neutral court. While the Hawkeyes are 5-0 ATS at home, the Badgers should pose a stronger battle than teams like Georgia Tech or Iowa State.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 134.5 (-110).

If there is one thing both sides have been great at this season, it is cashing Under tickets. Wisconsin is 4-5 O/U, while Iowa is 3-6 O/U.

The Badgers’ strength is in their defense, allowing the 24th-fewest points per game (59.8). They also hold their opponents to 40.5% from the field and 29.2% from deep.

While Iowa has consistently scored on weaker opponents, it sits 107th in field-goal percentage (46.5%), which shows a clearer picture than its 82.4 PPG.

Considering the Hawkeyes hold opponents to just 30.1% from deep, 3-pointers may not be easy to come by. Ultimately, BACK UNDER 134.5 (-110).

Iowa vs. Duke odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Iowa vs. Duke odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 24 Iowa Hawkeyes (6-1) and the No. 15 Duke Blue Devils (8-2) meet Tuesday at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Tip-off is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Iowa vs. Duke odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll.

The Hawkeyes were tripped up 79-66 by TCU on a neutral floor in Florida on Nov. 26 in a holiday tournament. It rebounded with an 81-65 victory over Georgia Tech last time out last Tuesday, covering a 15.5-point spread as the Under hit for the 3rd consecutive game.

The Blue Devils registered a 75-59 victory against Boston College in the ACC opener Saturday, failing to cover on a 3-pointer at the buzzer for the bad beat if you were laying the 17.5 points. Duke has alternated non-covers and covers in each of the past 5 outings while cashing the Over in each of the previous 2 contests.

Iowa vs. Duke picks and predictions

Prediction

Duke 74, Iowa 70

Moneyline

There was no money line available at the time of publishing.

Against the spread

DUKE -3.5 (-105) is a solid play at MSG. Duke can be trusted despite that it was trampled by another Big Ten team, Purdue, in its most recent neutral-site game on Nov. 27 in Portland, Ore.

Duke redeemed itself with an 81-72 win over Ohio State, another Big Ten team, in the following game Wednesday, and it pounded B.C. 75-59 last time out in the ACC opener.

Iowa has a nice record overall, but really, it has been tested just 3 times, narrowly beating a mediocre Clemson team 74-71 as an 8.5-point favorite, while losing to TCU. It also has a nice 83-67 road win at Seton Hall, but Duke’s body of work is much more impressive.

Over/Under

UNDER 146.5 (-110) is the lean, but play it with a half-unit wager at best.

The Under is 4-0 in the past 4 neutral-site games for the Hawkeyes, while going 8-3 in the past 11 against teams with a winning percentage over .600.

The Under is also 4-0 in the past 4 neutral-site games for the Blue Devils while going 7-3 in the past 10 games overall and 6-1 in the past 7 following a straight-up victory.

Nebraska at Iowa odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Nebraska at Iowa odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers (3-8, 2-6 Big Ten) visit Iowa City to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes (7-4, 5-3) Friday at 4 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Nebraska vs. Iowa odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Nebraska is on a 5-game slide, recently losing to Wisconsin 15-14 as a 10-point underdog in its home finale in front of the 382nd consecutive sellout. Wisconsin scored the winning TD with 35 seconds left. It has been a season to forget for the Cornhuskers, and AD Trev Alberts and the new coach, whoever he may be, have a big project ahead.

Iowa has struggled all season on offense. The season started slow as the Hawkeyes got out to a 3-4 start. Since then, the team rallied to win 4 straight and put itself in position to win the Big Ten West with a win in this game. Defense has been the key all season for Iowa, and it came through once again last weekend in a 13-10 victory at Minnesota with a fumble recovery and an interception. The Hawkeyes were 2.5-point underdogs and have covered 4 games in a row.

Iowa has only scored 151 points in Big Ten play for an 18.9 PPG average, while it has allowed 136 points for a 17.0 PPG allowed average — and that includes giving up 54 points to No. 2 Ohio State. Iowa plays low-scoring, tight games and this should be another one.

Nebraska at Iowa picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa 23, Nebraska 9

Moneyline

PASS.

If Iowa (-435) wins this game, it’s in the Big Ten Championship Game to face the winner of Saturday’s Michigan-Ohio State game.

With the Hawkeyes at home and the Cornhuskers basically giving up on the season, Iowa will win here, but the -435 price is way too high and not worth the risk.

Against the spread

BET IOWA -11 (-110).

Nebraska wants to get through this game and move into the offseason. With an offense in shambles, the Huskers will not find points easy to come by. Playing against an elite Iowa defense will not help either.

Iowa will smother Nebraska. The Hawkeyes surprisingly did not have a defensive score Saturday against Minnesota. They will this week.

TAKE IOWA -11 (-110),

Over/Under

BET UNDER 38.5 (-110).

As mentioned, the Hawkeyes averaged 18.9 PPG points in conference play. They averaged 17.4 PPG in all games. Iowa does not have an offense that will scare anyone, but its defense should. Toss out the Ohio State game and the defense allowed 11.7 PPG in Big Ten play. In its 3 non-conference games, the defense allowed a total of 13 points.

The Hawkeyes will control this game and use field position to win a slow, boring contest. UNDER 38.5 (-110) is my FAVORITE PLAY in this game.

Iowa at Seton Hall odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Iowa at Seton Hall odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Iowa Hawkeyes (2-0) take on the Seton Hall Pirates (2-0) Wednesday. Tip-off from Prudential Center is at 7:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Iowa vs. Seton Hall odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Iowa has opened its season with 2 cupcake games against Bethune-Cookman and North Carolina A&T. They did exactly what was both expected and needed to prove themselves beating Bethune-Cookman 89-58 Nov. 7, covering a 28.5-point number, and topping North Carolina A&T 112-71 Friday, covering a 24.5-point number.

Seton Hall comes in off an 80-44 victory over 2021-22 tournament darling St. Peter Sunday, covering as a 16-point favorite. This came on the heels of a lopsided 79-52 victory against Monmouth in its season opener last Wednesday.

Neither of these teams has played a real challenge, but that changes Wednesday. It will be interesting to see which group can adjust better to finally playing a real opponent.

Iowa at Seton Hall picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa 85, Seton Hall 79

Moneyline

BET IOWA (+100).

Iowa should win this game so taking the moneyline is better value than taking the +1.5 (-115) on the spread. Iowa will shoot and then shoot more. Seton Hall will be unable to keep up.

Against the spread

PASS.

With Iowa likely to win, I would prefer taking its moneyline for better value.

Over/Under

BET OVER 151.5 (-112).

Iowa, in 2 games, has averaged 73 shots per game. It is a shoot first and shoot often team. While Seton Hall is not (48.5 shots per game), it will need to increase this number as the Hawkeyes will put up points.

Even with Iowa only giving up 58 and 71 points in its first 2 games, its opponents still forced up plenty of shots with Bethune-Cookman tossing up 66 in the opener and North Carolina A&T getting up 67 in the last game. Seton Hall will also get into the 60s in terms of shots and more will go in for them. I expect this game to be in the high 150s at a minimum and this makes OVER 151.5 (-112) my favorite play in this game.

Wisconsin at Iowa odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Wisconsin at Iowa odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Wisconsin Badgers (5-4, 3-3 Big Ten) meet the Iowa Hawkeyes (5-4, 3-3) Saturday at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. ET (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Wisconsin vs. Iowa odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Badgers registered a 23-10 win over Maryland last Saturday, winning and covering in consecutive games for the first time this season. Wisconsin remains very much in the hunt for the West Division title and is tied with Iowa just 1 game behind Illinois.

The Hawkeyes posted an impressive 24-3 win at Purdue last weekend, covering as 3.5-point underdogs en route to their 2nd consecutive victory by 20 or more points. Iowa, like Wisconsin, still has a shot at representing the West Division in the Big Ten Championship Game. Iowa enters on a 5-2 ATS run across the past 7 games overall.

Wisconsin at Iowa picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa 25, Wisconsin 19

Moneyline

IOWA (-110) is a solid value at home at near even money, as QB Spencer Petras and the Hawkeyes offense finally appear to have found their sea legs.

The Hawkeyes have won the Heartland Trophy just once in the past 6 meetings, a 28-7 victory on Dec. 12, 2020, during the COVID season.

Wisconsin is just 1-2 SU/ATS in 3 games on the road this season, with the only victory against lowly Northwestern.

Against the spread

Playing Iowa +0.5 (-112) doesn’t make any sense, as there is no way this game can end up a tie. So just roll with the moneyline, which is slightly cheaper. There is no reason to make this bet.

PASS.

Over/Under

OVER 35 (-112) might be the best play on the board. This is an ultra-low number considering the fact Wisconsin is averaging a healthy 30.8 PPG, while Iowa has managed 28.5 PPG in its last 2 outings.

This won’t be confused for a video game, or a track meet, but we should easily see a total into the 40s despite pretty strong defenses on both sides.

Iowa at Ohio State odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Iowa Hawkeyes at Ohio State Buckeyes odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Iowa Hawkeyes (3-3, 1-2) and the Ohio State Buckeyes (6-0, 3-0) play Saturday at Ohio Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for noon ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Iowa vs. Ohio State odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Hawkeyes have had a bad taste in their mouths for the last 2 weeks since a 9-6 loss at Illinois. While Iowa did cover, and it is 3-1 against the spread (ATS) in the previous 4 games, it was the 4th time in 6 games the offense scored 14 or fewer points.

The Buckeyes blasted Michigan State last week by a 49-20 count, and it has 45 or more points in each of the last 5 games. The Over has cashed in each of the last 4 outings, and Ohio State is 3-0-1 ATS during the span.

Ohio State leads the country with 48.8 points per game (PPG) and ranks 2nd with 543.7 total yards per game. QB C.J. Stroud has completed 70.6% of his passes for 1,737 yards, 24 TDs and 3 INTs, while WR Marvin Harrison Jr. has hauled in 9 TDs.

Ohio State is No. 2 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Iowa at Ohio State picks and predictions

Prediction

Ohio State 38, Iowa 6

Moneyline

There is never a reason to bet a money line over -200, unless it’s part of a multi-team parlay. Even then it’s a bad play. But there is no way you should even consider Ohio State (-10000), parlay or not.

AVOID.

Against the spread

OHIO STATE -29.5 (-108) is worth backing. While Iowa has a tremendous defense, and it has been shutting nearly everyone down, it won’t have the horses to make Stroud and company look bad. This is great offense vs. great defense, and it will be fun to watch — for a quarter or 2. Look for the Buckeyes to pull away in the 2nd half.

Over/Under

UNDER 49.5 (-107) is a risky play in games involving the Buckeyes, and the Over has hit in 4 in a row. The Hawkeyes defense will do a good job holding them down early, frustrating the Buckeyes before they solve Iowa later in the game. Ohio State won’t hit their averages in this game, and Iowa won’t even hit double digits.

Iowa at Illinois odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Iowa at Illinois odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Iowa Hawkeyes (3-2) visit the Illinois Fighting Illini (4-1) in a Big Ten battle Saturday. Kickoff from Memorial Stadium is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Iowa vs. Illinois odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are looking to revive their struggling season vs. a very solid Illinois team. After a strong season last year, Iowa has not looked the same this year. They opened with a lackluster 7-3 win vs. San Diego State, followed by a 10-7 loss to Iowa State. They beat Nevada (27-0) and Rutgers (27-10), but lost 27-14 last week against No. 4 Michigan.

The Fighting Illini are coming off a 34-10 win over Wisconsin and are looking to continue their strong start, which includes wins against Wyoming (38-6), Virginia (24-3) and Chattanooga (31-0). Their lone loss was 23-20 to Indiana in Week 2.

Iowa at Illinois picks and predictions

Prediction

Illinois 28, Iowa 17

Money line

LEAN ILLINOIS -190

Yes, this is a risky bet. Conference games in college are always tricky and I never like to bet against Iowa as they always seem to put up a fight in big games. as they did last week vs. Michigan. Illinois is simply too strong of a team to lose this game at home and they have played some good competition and beat them. While Wisconsin isn’t as good as Iowa this year, because this Illini squad was able to blow out Wisconsin they should also be able to get a big win vs. Iowa.

Against the spread

Lean ILLINOIS -3.5 (-102).

This is your best bet in this game. This Illinois offense is powerful and they should simply be able to put up more points than an Iowa offense that has looked non-existent to this point of the season. Iowa has scored in the single digits twice and only scored 27 points against 2 of the worst teams in the nation. They will not be able to keep up with the Illinois offense. The only reason for pause is that Iowa’s defense is nothing to sneeze at. Allowing only 27 points to a Michigan team with 1 of the best rushing attacks in the country is impressive. But, this is still your best bet for this game.

Over/Under

LEAN OVER 35.5 (-112)

This is the most risky bet for this game. This Iowa offense worries me and while they will score a few more points this game than they normally do against good competition, I would not be surprised if I was wrong. I could very easily see this Iowa team scoring in the single digits for the 3rd time this year. Also, the Illinois offense is strong enough to feel comfortable with betting on the over for this game.

Michigan at Iowa odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Michigan Wolverines at Iowa Hawkeyes odds and lines, with NCAA expert picks and predictions.

The Michigan Wolverines (4-0, 1-0 Big Ten) and Iowa Hawkeyes (3-1, 1-0) clash in Iowa City Saturday. Kickoff at Kinnick Stadium is scheduled for noon ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Michigan vs. Iowa odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Michigan defeated Maryland 34-27 last Saturday. RB Blake Corum rambled for 243 rushing yards and a pair of touchdowns. Corum is the lead edge of a Wolverine attack that has already produced 17 TD on the ground. UM has run for 230 yards or more in 3 of its 4 games and is averaging a robust 6.0 yards per attempt.

The Hawkeyes got by Rutgers in a defensive battle last week. Iowa won 27-10, with its defense scoring 2 of its 3 touchdowns. The Hawkeyes have allowed just 5.8 points and 236.3 yards per game through 4 contests.

These two programs clashed in the 2021 Big Ten Championship Game, and Michigan bludgeoned Iowa 42-3 (Dec. 4). The Wolverines have held the Hawkeyes without a touchdown in their last 2 meetings.

Michigan is No. 4 in the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Michigan at Iowa picks and predictions

Prediction

Michigan 27, Iowa 21

Money line

True odds are lost in the juice here. However, the midweek buy-in here has been perhaps a bit too tilted toward the visitors who will be in a Kinnick Stadium which has seen many a top-10 upset over the years.

Back the Hawkeyes if the tag hits +415 for the value. Otherwise, PASS.

Against the spread

Michigan played a bottom-of-the-barrel group-of-5 slate over its first 3 games and then had Maryland at home last week. It’s in a tough environment contest for the first time this season, and the Wolverines may well be talented enough to take the offensively-challenged Hawkeyes by 14 to 20 points.

However, Iowa’s defense could very well add to some 1st-half problems for UM — and enough so to make the home side the lean here.

It’s a small lean: but consider a partial-unit play on IOWA +10.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Michigan’s offense cranked out a combined 107 points in Week 1 and 2 while converting just 5-of-16 3rd downs. That offense was slowed a bit in its first real-speed, big-boy tackle football game last week vs. Maryland.  Look for adjustments and a relative-to-the-competition strong performance by the UM offense Saturday.

Both these teams allow plenty of havoc and can convert on special teams. Look for some short-field scores and maybe defensive touchdowns.

It all makes for enough back-and-forth for there to be a moderate amount of value on the OVER 42.5 (-110).

Iowa at Rutgers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Iowa at Rutgers odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Iowa Hawkeyes (2-1) invade Piscataway, N.J., Saturday to take on the surprisingly undefeated Rutgers Scarlet Knights (3-0) at 7 p.m. ET. (FS1). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Iowa vs. Rutgers odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

What can be said about the offenses of these 2 schools? Nothing. But the defenses for both is the reason these teams are any good.

In 3 games this far, Iowa has scored a total of 41 points. This includes a 7-3 victory over South Dakota State in Week 1 where they did not even score a TD (a FG and 2 safeties). The special teams of Iowa are incredible and have blocked 3 punts in the last 2 weeks. One of those blocks set up a 16-yard field which got the Hawkeyes their only points against rival Iowa State.

Rutgers is not much better on offense.

In Week 1, the Scarlet Knights put up 22 against Boston College. After scoring 66 in a meaningless game against Wagner, Rutgers only put up 16 points in barely beating Temple, a team in contention for the worst team in FBS football.

This game will be a punting clinic and points will be at a premium. So do not expect a lot of excitement. Unless you live for the olden days of 1900’s football.

Iowa at Rutgers picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa 17, Rutgers 9

Money line

PASS.

I can not recommend betting on any line this high.

Against the spread

I would LEAN RUTGERS +7.5 (-120) if you play anything.

These teams do not score much.

Iowa has scored 41 points in 3 games this season and Rutgers has only scored 38 in 2 games against FBS schools. If neither team is going to score, then neither can blow the other out. So do not lay the points with Iowa here.

Over/Under

TAKE UNDER 34.5 (-115) in this barnburner.

This game will be close. It will also be low scoring and boring. With more punts than points possible in this game, even an Under this low is a great wager. This is my FAVORITE PLAY for this game.

Nevada at Iowa odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Nevada at Iowa odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Nevada Wolf Pack (2-1) travel to Kinnick Stadium to take on the Iowa Hawkeyes (1-1) Saturday. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET (Big Ten Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around Nevada at Iowa odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Nevada is coming off a disappointing 55-42 loss to Incarnate Word after opening the season with consecutive wins. The Wolf Pack’s 2 victories came against the Sun Belt’s Texas State (38-14 last week) and New Mexico State (23-12 Aug. 27).

The Wolf Pack are led by QB Nate Cox, who has 372 passing yards with 2 touchdowns. On the ground, it’s been RB Toa Taua, who has 246 yards with 3 TDs.

The Hawkeyes offense is engineered by QB Spencer Petras, who has struggles so far. He’s thrown for just 201 yards with 2 TDs. RB Leshon Williams has been Iowa’s main ground threat, rushing for 106 yards with 1 score.

Iowa is coming off a 10-7 loss to in-state rival Iowa State after beating South Dakota State 7-3 in the season opener. As you can see, the offense has struggled, scoring just 14 points through 2 games.

Nevada at Iowa picks and predictions

Prediction

Iowa 21, Nevada 3

Money line

PASS.

Laying -4000 is not a good value, especially against an Iowa team that has only scored 14 points in 2 games. I’ll stick to Nevada covering the spread (see below) and not predict one of the biggest upsets of the weekend.

Against the spread

BET NEVADA +23.5 (-103).

The Hawkeyes being favored by more than 3 touchdowns when they have just 2 on the season doesn’t feel right. Iowa QB Petras hasn’t played well.

Sure, there might be doubts to back the Wolf Pack since they just lost to an FCS squad, but the point is that the Hawkeyes simply will struggle to score enough points to cover.

In last week’s 10-7 loss, Iowa had just 58 rushing yards and 92 passing yards on an Iowa State team that allowed more points (10) to Southeast Missouri State.

While Nevada did beat NMSU and Texas State by double figures, it likely won’t come out on top in Iowa City Saturday. However, the Pack will provide a challenge for the Hawkeyes and should cover a line of 3-plus touchdowns.

Over/Under

While the game is off the board at Tipico Sportsbook, several books have the O/U line posted around 39.5.

I would play the Under as low as 37.5.
