Kyle Hamilton questionable to return for Notre Dame vs. USC

Shoutout to @ndjrs for posting the video. Hopefully Hamilton is OK to play against Carolina next week and that Jude doesn’t deal with the same kind of snorers as he did last night.

Notre Dame star safety Kyle Hamilton left their game against USC on the second Trojans possession of the game.  You can see that play by clicking back to our post about it earlier tonight.

NBC’s Kathryn Tappen reported during the game’s second quarter that Hamilton is questionable to return.  The NBC broadcast has shown Hamilton several times since he left the injury tent as he’s been sitting on the bench with teammates but not walking around much whatsoever.

Jude Seymour of One Foot Down is at the game tonight and posted the following video of Hamilton leaving the field for halftime:

It wouldn’t certainly appear to be much less than questionable that we see Hamilton again tonight.  Here’s to hoping whatever the injury is isn’t too serious and we see him back for the North Carolina game next Saturday night.

Report: Frank Ragnow suffered fractured throat vs Packers, vulnerable to miss next game

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow suffered a fractured throat versus the Green Bay Packers and is vulnerable to miss this week’s game.

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport is reporting that Detroit Lions center Frank Ragnow suffered a fractured throat versus the Green Bay Packers and is vulnerable to miss this week’s game.

Ragnow apparently suffered the injury in the first quarter of last Sunday’s game but still managed to play on every snap and didn’t allow a single pressure, hit, or sack.

According to the National Center of Biotechnology Information (NCBI) this type of injury is very rare, and if/when patients should have surgery is still being debated in the medical community.

The “Lions are consulting with specialists on this right now,” according to Free Press’ Dave Birkett. “His airway/breathing is fine, and he can eat, but he’s not supposed to talk right now. Trying to determine how much time he’ll need to be out.”

Beyond the fact that he has a fractured throat (!), not being able to communicate with his teammates will surely make it more challenging to play the center position.

We likely won’t learn more in today’s injury report — today’s pool report indicated that he missed practice — but interim coach Darrell Bevell will surely address the issue at his Thursday morning press conference.

If Ragnow can’t play this week, the Lions will likely turn to former starting guard Joe Dahl, starting left guard Jonah Jackson, or practice squad centers Marcus Martin or Evan Brown.
