Florida WR Ricky Pearsall stunned fans with this unbelievable airborne one-handed catch

An unbelievable grab for Florida’s Ricky Pearsall!

College football often delivers some awesome moments and jaw-dropping catches that leave fans feeling like they just watched the best play of the season.

Well, Florida’s Ricky Pearsall may have actually delivered the best catch of the 2023 season, and it’s going to be hard to top.

Midway through the first quarter of the Gators’ home matchup against Charlotte on Saturday, quarterback Graham Mertz took a shot downfield in Pearsall’s direction, but the ball looked overthrown. Clearly, though, that wasn’t going to stop Pearsall.

The senior wide receiver leaped into the air and miraculously pulled the ball down with one hand before getting absolutely drilled by two 49ers defenders. WHAT A CATCH.

It’s not at all an exaggeration to call this one of the best plays of the season so far.

It was a 25-yard pickup for the Gators. But seriously, HOW?!?!

And look at this incredible photo:

That drive ended in a field goal for Florida, but Pearsall’s unbelievable grab is definitely a season highlight.

College football fans roasted Dabo Swinney after Clemson botched the end of its Florida State loss

What are you doing, Dabo Swinney?

What are you doing, Dabo Swinney?

We certainly have a lot of questions about how his Clemson Tigers lost, 31-24, in overtime to No. 4 Florida State at home on Saturday, and college football fans do too. Especially when Florida State didn’t have the lead until scoring its game-winning touchdown.

So much of the Tigers’ loss stemmed from extremely questionable decisions, largely on the coaching. The timing of their final timeouts was perplexing, end-of-regulation clock management was nonexistent and quarterback Cade Klubnik ended up running on a late third-and-11 from Florida State’s 13-yard line, only to set up a missed field goal from kicker Jonathan Weitz, who wasn’t on the team at the start of the season until Swinney called him back.

With about two minutes left in the fourth quarter, Florida State got the ball back after Clemson’s missed field goal but couldn’t break the 24-24 tie. The Tigers had one last chance at scoring with 12 seconds left but completely whiffed.

After Florida State’s offense scored first in overtime, its defense kept Clemson off the board — despite the Tigers at one point needing a single yard for a first down in overtime yet faking a handoff to running back Will Shipley — and that was it.

Florida State delivered Clemson its first home in-conference loss since 2016, per ESPN.

It was a thrilling game, to be sure — unless you’re a Clemson fan, probably. And the college football world absolutely let Swinney have it after some seriously poor coaching decisions.

Robert Griffin III’s new glasses had fans making Golden Girls jokes

Robert Griffin III is a sharp dresser, but fans came prepared with jokes for his new look.

Robert Griffin III has been tearing up the broadcasting scene for a while now, covering college football for ESPN. Known for his eccentric style and hilarious in-your-face personality, Griffin is a welcomed sight on many TV screens nationwide.

There’s nothing he won’t do to capture a viewer’s attention and leave a lasting impression. Just weeks ago, Griffin tore his pants during a segment, jumping fully clothed into a nearby body of water. An incredible candid moment.

On Tuesday, Griffin was the talk of social media again, this time for his glasses that caught the attention of many watching ESPN’s Get Up.

Upon further review, fans couldn’t help but notice that his glasses made Griffin look like Sophia from Golden Girls.

Immediately, the jokes ensued, and Twitter had a field day with other characters Griffin also looked like. Griffin’s wife even joined in, proving that a spouse is there to keep you humble.

Mizzou upset No. 15 Kansas State with a 61-yard game-winning FG amid beautiful chaos

The longest field goal in SEC history!

Saturday’s Week 3 matchup between No. 15 Kansas State and Missouri ended in beautiful, absolute chaos. A perfect example of college football’s madness delivering an upset for the undefeated Tigers during a seemingly dull-on-paper schedule.

At the end of a largely back-and-forth contest, Mizzou had the ball on its own 18-yard line with 1:25 left in the fourth quarter of a game tied at 27. Picking up a few first downs, the Tigers marched up the field, looking poised to pull off the last-second upset before nearly blowing it.

Somehow, inexplicably, on second-and-10 on the Wildcats’ 39-yard line, Mizzou — with zero awareness of the play clock counting down — took a delay-of-game penalty. Seriously, what?!

Luckily for them, kicker Harrison Mevis saved the day after moving back to the 44-yard line, and the senior kicker drilled a game-winning 61-yard field goal as the clock hit zero. SIXTY-ONE YARDS.

It was the longest field goal in SEC history, as Mizzou took down a ranked nonconference opponent for the first time since 1990, per ESPN Stats & Info.

Missouri won, 30-27, and is now 3-0 for the first time since 2018.

The chaos, however, didn’t stop there.

A flag appeared to be thrown just before the ball crossed the uprights, but as soon as the record-breaking field goal was ruled good, fans stormed the field, making any hope of replaying the down next to impossible. Officials seemed to decide it wasn’t a flag but an errant flying yellow object like a t-shirt, pom-pom or something else, leaving the Tigers to celebrate their victory.

NFL world reacts to the death of football icon Jim Brown

Legendary NFL running back Jim Brown has died at the age of 87.

An iconic NFL figure has died.

Jim Brown, widely regarded as one of the best running backs in the history of football, died on Thursday at the age of 87, his wife, Monique, announced Friday afternoon on Instagram.

After being drafted out of Syracuse, Brown’s tenure with the Cleveland Browns from 1957-65 saw him rush for 12,312 yards and 106 touchdowns.

He won a Super Bowl with Cleveland in 1964 and won the league’s MVP award three times (1957, 1958, 1965). He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1971.

After his playing career, Brown transitioned into a Hollywood acting career, appearing in films such as The Dirty Dozen, El Condor, Riot, 100 Rifles, The Running Man and Any Given Sunday. He was also known for his active role in the Civil Rights movement.

Since the 1960s, Brown was accused multiple times of assault and domestic violence, including rape charges that were ultimately dropped. In 1999, he was charged with making “terroristic” threats against his wife and convicted of vandalizing her vehicle.

In his later days, Brown had served in an advisory role within the Cleveland Browns organization.

The NFL, the Cleveland Browns and league commissioner Roger Goodell all put out statements in response to Brown’s death.

Travis Kelce’s rant about everyone doubting the Chiefs led to so many Kirby Smart Georgia jokes

LOL, sure.

Football fans didn’t buy it when Georgia coach Kirby Smart said it last month, and they didn’t buy it Sunday night when Travis Kelce said it after the Chiefs won Super Bowl 57.

Kansas City rallied to beat the Philadelphia Eagles, 38-35, at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona in an incredible game that became an instant Super Bowl classic.

And afterward, Kelce delivered yet another WWE-style rant. But the Chiefs tight end repeatedly claimed that no one believed in Kansas City and no one picked the team to win the Super Bowl.

Sure, plenty of people, like FOX’s broadcast crew, picked the favorite Eagles to win it all, but so many others — including some of us here at For The Win – went with the Chiefs. A Patrick Mahomes-led offense is awfully hard to doubt, especially after winning the 2019-20 Super Bowl and the AFC West title the last seven consecutive years.

Kelce’s comments were awfully similar to what Smart said in January after the Bulldogs won their second consecutive championship, claiming everyone also doubted them. Again, ridiculous when Georgia was a title favorite throughout the season and its 25-year-old quarterback was still in red and black.

Of course, football fans didn’t miss a beat.

Candace Parker is headed to the Las Vegas Aces, and WNBA Twitter went absolutely wild

CANDACE PARKER TO THE ACES!

WNBA free agency just took an unexpected turn!

Saturday afternoon, Candace Parker posted on Instagram that she’d be joining the reigning world champion Las Vegas Aces for the 2023 season.

The news came out of nowhere as not many had connected Parker and the Aces. The thought was that the two-time WNBA champion and two-time league MVP would either return to Chicago (her hometown) for a third season or head back to Los Angeles where she’d spent most of her famed basketball career.

Instead, Parker is off to the City of Sin to help the Aces try to repeat as league champions, leaving everyone stunned.

The Aces will continue to be must-see basketball with the addition of Parker. They have +145 odds at FanDuel Sportsbook to win the 2023 championship.

Michigan ran a failed Philly Special against TCU, and fans had so many jokes about the trick play

Philly Special fail.

No. 2 Michigan and the Wolverines offense made a very questionable play call early in the College Football Playoff semifinal game against No. 3 TCU in the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday.

They attempted the famous Philly Special trick play, and it ended about as poorly as possible.

Coming out of a timeout on 4th-and-goal with two yards to go in a then-scoreless first quarter, the Wolverines tried to get tricky to get in the end zone. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy took the snap and quickly handed the ball off to wide receiver Ronnie Bell, who then tossed it to tight end Colston Loveland.

Loveland was supposed to then get the pass off back to McCarthy, but the quarterback was well-covered, leaving Loveland scrambling to try and get back to the linen of scrimmage, if not the end zone.

Unfortunately for the Wolverines, TCU defensive lineman Dylan Horton tackled Loveland at the TCU 10-yard line.

And just like that, Michigan’s first drive of the playoff game ended with a turnover on downs.

College football fans on Twitter could not believe Michigan not only attempted the play but also failed, and they had so many jokes, including a few jabs at Matt Patricia and some calls to retire the Philly Special.

This fan chugged mayonnaise at the Duke’s Mayo Bowl, and college football Twitter couldn’t handle it

Grossssssss.

The Duke’s Mayo Bowl is a wild, absurd, delightful and gross college football tradition that’s filled with all things… well, mayonnaise. A slightly horrifying mayo mascot, fans eating mayo in the stands, the winning coach ultimately getting a mayo bath.

It’s a special bowl that brings out the extra weird in college football fans, and those who tuned into the bowl game Friday between Maryland and N.C. State were treated to that weirdness (and grossness) up close.

One Wolfpack fan took his Duke’s Mayo Bowl fandom to the next level with cameras capturing him chugging a bottle of mayo. Yep, just straight up pouring mayo in his mouth.

Grossssssss.

Obviously, college football fans loved this. They were also repulsed by it but still loved this moment nonetheless.
