Week 2 final injury report for Broncos vs. Jaguars

As expected, Tre Herndon will miss Sunday’s game vs. Denver, but two others could potentially join him as pass-rushers Lerentee McCray and Jordan Smith are questionable.

As previously reported, the Jacksonville Jaguars ruled cornerback Tre Herndon out for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos, but luckily he was the only player who is guaranteed to be inactive. However, pass-rushers Lerentee McCray (hamstring) and Jordan Smith (knee) could join him as they were ruled questionable on the final injury report, while cornerback Tyson Campbell (calf) didn’t appear in the status column.

On the Broncos’ end, starting guard Graham Glasgow (illness) was ruled doubtful. Pass-rusher Bradley Chubb (ankle) and linebacker Jonas Griffith (back) were ruled questionable.

Every other player on their injury report didn’t surface in the status column, including notable Shelby Harris and Noah Fant.

Tre Herndon to miss Week 2’s game vs. Denver, could potentially be back Week 3

There will be at least one player out Sunday for the Jags when they face Denver in CB Tre Herndon.

The Jacksonville Jaguars will at least have one player to miss Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos. That player is cornerback Tre Herndon (knee), who practiced for the first time this regular season on Thursday as a limited participant.

Herndon has been making progress from an MCL sprain he sustained Week 1 of the preseason against the Cleveland Browns, and will need more time off according to Jags coach Urban Meyer.

The Jags had three others on their injury report Thursday in pass-rushers Lerentee McCray and Jordan Smith and fellow cornerback Tyson Campbell. All of them were limited, so the final injury report will reveal whether or not they will join Herndon as inactives, which is unlikely to be the case.

We’ll have the final injury report late Friday afternoon for both the Jags and Broncos.

Jags have full participation after CB Tre Herndon is upgraded to limited

The Jags didn’t have a single player miss practice Thursday as CB Tre Herndon was upgraded to limited participation.

The Jacksonville Jaguars had full participation for the first time this regular season due to cornerback Tre Herndon (MCL sprain) returning as a limited participant Thursday. Herndon is the only player who hasn’t been able to participate in practice since the regular season started as he sustained his injury in the Jags’ first preseason game against the Cleveland Browns.

Herndon was trending upward on Wednesday all though he had a “DNP” status. He was seen on the field with a helmet and a knee brace then but worked on the side which made it clear he’d eventually be able to practice sooner rather than later. If he’s able to play Sunday against the Denver Broncos, it would be huge for a Jags secondary that needs all of the experience it can get at the moment.

Herndon was one of four players on the injury report alongside pass-rushers Jordan Smith and Lerentee McCray and cornerback Tyson Campbell. All three of the other players on the injury report were limited participants, too.

Injury news: DT Davon Hamilton carted off late in Jags’ loss to Browns

The Jags had another worrisome injury to happen on defense as Davon Hamilton was carted off with a knee injury.

The Jacksonville Jaguars came into Week 12’s game against the Cleveland Browns with several injuries shaping the roster and it appears they have one more to worry about after Sunday’s loss. Rookie nose tackle DaVon Hamilton had to be carted off late in the game with a knee injury, which ruled out any possible return against the Browns.

Hamilton was having a promising rookie season for the Jags after taking over as their No. 1 nose tackle when Abry Jones went on injured reserve. He graded as the Jags’ top player Weeks 8-9 against the Los Angeles Chargers and Houston Texans, garnering an 86.6 and an 87.9 Pro Football Focus grade, respectively, in those weeks.

Only time will tell the severity of Hamilton’s situation and we won’t speculate, but Jags coach Doug Marrone stated that his injury didn’t look good from his perspective after the game. If he’s eventually deemed out for the season, it would be terrible news for the rookie who was putting together a great year despite just registering one tackle Sunday.

The Jags already came into Sunday’s game without several key defensive players, however, with them being eliminated from playoff contention there should be no rush to get anyone back. Another positive is the fact that several young players could get some late season opportunities as we saw with corners Josiah Scott and Luq Barcoo, both of whom have been inactive much (or all) of 2020.
