Saints designate a veteran defensive lineman to return from IR

The New Orleans Saints designated veteran defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon to return from injured reserve. He’s on his way back:

The New Orleans Saints designated veteran defensive lineman Tanoh Kpassagnon to return from injured reserve, and he got on the practice field Tuesday for the first time since partially tearing his Achilles tendon while preparing for training camp this offseason. He’s on his way back, and his coach couldn’t be happier.

“Since Tanoh got injured, I haven’t seen someone in this building more than him, and that’s a credit to him,” interim head coach Darren Rizzi said Tuesday. “Sometimes it’s really easy to get frustrated, especially with the rehab process. So kudos to him. He’s just been grinding through the rehab and to see him out there today in the pads with the helmet on, it’s been a big buildup for him.”

Kpassagnon has been a key piece of the defensive line through three years with New Orleans, tallying 9.5 sacks and 23 quarterback hits along with 65 tackles (10 tackles for loss). He’s got the size to move inside and rush from a defensive tackle alignment while showing the lower-body flexibility needed to guard the edges, and they’d like to add him to the rotation soon. He just needs to prove his body can handle it. He’ll have 21 days to practice and get that green light to go into a game.

Broncos will have to make a Drew Sanders decision this week

The Broncos have to make a decision on LB Drew Sanders this week.

The Denver Broncos will have to make at least one roster decision this week.

After letting the deadline for pass for Delarrin Turner-Yell (ACL) to return from the physically unable to perform list last week, the Broncos will keep Turner-Yell on the PUP list for the rest of the season.

Denver now has to make a decision on linebacker Drew Sanders (Achilles), who has to be activated from the PUP list by Wednesday. If he’s not activated, Sanders will also be shut down for the rest of the season.

Meanwhile, Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds (finger) has one more week to return from injured reserve, and running back Tyler Badie (back) is yet to return to practice.

Here’s a look at the team’s IR/PUP players going into Week 13.

Broncos eligible to return from IR/PUP

  1. LB Drew Sanders: Deadline to return is Nov. 27
  2. WR Josh Reynolds: Deadline to return is Dec. 4
  3. RB Tyler Badie: Eligible to return to practice

The Broncos also have two players — linebacker Alex Singleton (ACL) and offensive lineman Quinn Bailey (ankle) — who are on season-ending IR.

  2. OL Quinn Bailey: Out for season

Denver linebacker Kwon Alexander is also out of practice squad elevations, and he seems likely to end up on the 53-man roster at some point this season. The Broncos will have to make some tough decisions to make room for returning players in the coming weeks.

Is Isiah Pacheco playing today? Injury updates for Chiefs RB

#Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco is dealing with a leg injury. Here are the latest updates.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco’s season was impacted by an injury that has kept him sidelined since Week 2.

Is Pacheco ready to make his comeback against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday?

Isiah Pacheco injury update

Pacheco fractured his fibula during the Chiefs’ matchup with the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2, which has forced him to take time away from the field.

He began participating in Kansas City’s practices last week but has yet to make his return to active status.

How long will Isiah Pacheco be out?

Pacheco is officially still on injured reserve and will not be available to play in the Chiefs’ tilt against Carolina this afternoon.

Based on comments from Andy Reid it is possible he could be activated for the Black Friday showdown with the Las Vegas Raiders, though it is unclear exactly how much longer he will need to fully recover.

Chiefs RB depth chart

During Pacheco’s absence, Kareem Hunt has been Kansas City’s starting running back. The Chiefs’ second-string rusher is Samaje Perine and behind him is Carson Steele.

This trio has been reliable while the team waits for Pacheco to recover enough to return to his role.

Lions activate CB Emmanuel Moseley in series of roster moves

Moseley has been out since tearing a pectoral muscle in early August, but he’s ready to play against the Colts

Emmanuel Moseley is back and ready for action. The Detroit Lions activated the veteran cornerback from injured reserve ahead of the team’s trip to Indianapolis in Week 12.

Moseley has been out since tearing a pectoral muscle during the preseason. The oft-injured veteran had been repping as the first-team slot cornerback before his unfortunate injury, a role now (quite capably) occupied by Amik Robertson.

Moseley has been star-crossed with injuries. He missed the final 13 games of the 2022 NFL season with the 49ers after tearing his ACL. The Lions signed him as a free agent and waited for him to get healthy enough to play, only to lose Moseley to another torn ACL after just four snaps. He then tore the pec this summer.

The Lions designated Moseley for return two weeks ago. His 21-day activation window wasn’t up until after the Lions play the Colts, but an injury to reserve CB Ennis Rakestraw accelerated Moseley’s return. Moseley was placed on I.R. in a correlating roster move.

The Lions also elevated freshly signed linebacker David Long from the practice squad to the gameday roster. Earlier in the day, CB Terrion Arnold was ruled out with an injury.

Broncos could get reinforcements from injured reserve this week

The Broncos have several players eligible to return from injured reserve and the physically unable to perform list this week.

Reinforcements could be on the way for the Denver Broncos this week.

Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds (finger) and running back Tyler Badie (back) are both eligible to return from IR, and safety Delarrin Turner-Yell (ACL) and linebacker Drew Sanders (Achilles) are eligible to return from the physically unable to perform list.

This afternoon is the deadline for Turner-Yell to be activated to the 53-man roster. If he is not activated, DTY will spend the rest of the season on reserve. Sanders has one more week remaining on his 21-day window to return.

Here’s a look at the team’s IR/PUP players going into Week 12.

Broncos eligible to return from IR/PUP

  1. LB Drew Sanders: Eligible to return since Week 5
  2. DB Delarrin Turner-Yell: Eligible to return since Week 5
  3. RB Tyler Badie: Eligible to return since Week 9
  4. WR Josh Reynolds: Eligible to return since Week 10

The Broncos also have two players — linebacker Alex Singleton (ACL) and offensive lineman Quinn Bailey (ankle) — who are on season-ending IR.

Ifeatu Melifonwu back on Lions injured reserve a day after being activated

The Lions placed safety Ifeatu Melifonwu back on injured reserve a day after being activated

No, it’s not a misprint. The Detroit Lions did indeed place safety Ifeatu Melifonwu on injured reserve on Tuesday.

Yes, it’s also true the Lions activated Melifonwu from I.R. on Monday.

What gives?

Melifonwu is back on I.R. for at least four more weeks with a finger injury. He had previously missed all of the 2024 campaign through Week 11 with an ankle issue suffered in Detroit’s second preseason game. Melifonwu injured his finger in practice last week after already being designated to return from I.R.

As head coach Dan Campbell explained on Monday, Melifonwu was going to be out for more time than the end of his 21-day activation window, which was originally slated for after the Week 12 trip to Indianapolis. The oft-injured reserve safety is now out until at least Week 16.

Melifonwu is eligible to be activated from I.R. a second time, though the team has a limited number of activations and several other players (Brodric Martin, Emmanuel Moseley, John Cominsky, Jalen Reeves-Maybin) also slated to come back at some point.

Packers activate rookie RB off injured reserve, but for how long?

The Green Bay Packers activated rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd off injured reserve on Monday, but it’s unclear how long Lloyd will remain on the 53-man roster after he needed surgery for appendicitis last Friday.

The Green Bay Packers activated rookie running back MarShawn Lloyd off injured reserve on Monday, but it’s unclear how long Lloyd will remain on the 53-man roster after he needed surgery for appendicitis last Friday.

The Packers had an open roster spot, so no corresponding move was required.

Lloyd, a third-round pick out of USC, originally went on injured reserve after injuring his ankle in Week 2. He was designated for return last Monday and looked on track to return to the roster ahead of Sunday’s showdown with the Chicago Bears, but the internal issue kept Lloyd on injured reserve.

Now that Lloyd is activated, the Packers have two choices: either keep him on the 53-man roster until he’s healed from appendicitis, or place him back on injured reserve or on the non-football illness (NFI) list and return him later in the season.

Teams have placed players on the NFI list following appendicitis in the past, although it’s unclear if Lloyd would be eligible considering the issue was first found at a team facility.

In 2022, left tackle David Bakhtiari had surgery for appendicitis and missed three games. Going on injured reserve would mean Lloyd misses at least four more games.

Lloyd has appeared in only one game this season. He carried six times for 15 yards and caught one pass for three yards in the Packers’ win over the Indianapolis Colts in Week 2.

Expect another roster move involving Lloyd this week.

Saints activate a Pro Bowler in their last-second Week 11 roster moves

The Saints’ last-second roster moves for Week 11 included the return of a Pro Bowler. Erik McCoy will start at center against the Browns:

The New Orleans Saints made a few roster moves ahead of Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns. Pro Bowl center Erik McCoy and linebacker Nephi Sewell have been activated from injured reserve and the physically unable to perform lists, while wide receiver Jermaine Jackson has been waived to make room.

The biggest move was McCoy returning to the lineup. McCoy emerged as arguably the second-most important offensive piece when he went out with injury. But Sewell had a key role to play defensively last year on passing downs until he went down with a serious knee injury. Now he’s making his debut and McCoy is returning to anchor the offensive line.

Waiving Jackson was an interesting choice. He was your return specialist since Rashid Shaheed went down with injury. He wasn’t a huge part of the passing game, and New Orleans opted to elevate Kevin Austin and Dante Pettis from the practice squad.
