Lions final injury status report for the NFC Championship game

Detroir Lions final injury report for the NFC Championship game

The final Detroit Lions injury status report for Sunday’s NFC Championship game against the San Francisco 49ers could have been worse. Despite some key players missing some practice time during the week, the Lions only ruled out two players.

Both those players, LG Jonah Jackson and WR Kalif Raymond, were anticipated to miss the game in Santa Clara with their injuries. Jackson suffered a knee injury in the Divisional round win over the Buccaneers, while Raymond, who also serves as the Lions’ primary return man, has been out since Week 18.

Two other Lions are questionable. Third-string QB Hendon Hooker has a tooth issue, while CB Chase Lucas earned it for an undisclosed illness.

Center Frank Ragnow will play, barring any setbacks, per head coach Dan Campbell. Rookie tight end Sam LaPorta also did not get an injury designation. LaPorta has played through the pain in both playoff wins thus far.

James Houston also does not carry an injury status designation into the matchup with the 49ers after being a full participant in practice all week. Houston was activated prior to last week’s game but was inactive for the win over the Buccaneers.

Lions final injury report for divisional round game vs. Buccaneers has one player out and two more questoinable

The final Detroit Lions injury report for the Divisional Round matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers is a pretty light one for the home team. The Lions only ruled out one player due to injury, with two others questionable after Friday’s practice.

Wide receiver and primary return specialist Kalif Raymond will miss his second consecutive game with a knee injury. Raymond was injured in the Week 18 win over the Minnesota Vikings. He did not practice at all during the week.

Tight end Sam LaPorta and EDGE James Houston are each listed as questionable. LaPorta was limited in the final two days of practice with his knee injury, also suffered in the regular-season finale against the Vikings. Houston, activated off the injured reserve on Thursday, is still dealing with the ankle injury he suffered in Week 2.

All other Lions players were full participants in the final two days of practice and none carry any injury designation status for Sunday’s game.

Lions injury report: Kalif Raymond still out, Cam Sutton no longer listed

Raymond was the only Lions player who was listed as not practicing in Wednesday’s walkthrough

The first Detroit Lions practice participation report for the team’s Divisional Round matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers had a couple of interesting points. The Lions released an estimated participation from Wednesday’s walkthrough.

The only player listed as not participating is wide receiver Kalif Raymond. The speedy receiver and return specialist remains sidelined with a knee injury suffered in the Week 18 win over the Vikings. Frank Ragnow would have sat it out as a veteran rest day, too.

Linebacker Alex Anzalone was listed as limited with shoulder and rib injuries. Anzalone briefly left the win over the Rams with a shoulder issue, which he appeared to suffer on the game’s opening drive.

Some other players who have ongoing injuries were noted as full participants. That includes TE Sam LaPorta, who played without limits in Sunday night’s win. Cornerback Cam Sutton was not one of those, however. Sutton has been a fixture on the injury reports with a toe issue, but he is no longer deemed injured enough to earn a mention on the injury report.

Lions final injury report for wild card weekend

Lions final injury report for wild card weekend: Sam LaPorta questionable for matchup with the Rams

The final Detroit Lions injury report for wild card weekend is one featuring two surprises at the tight end position. One of them is positive, while the other is an unfortunate development.

The good news: rookie Sam LaPorta is listed as questionable. The rookie tight end is making excellent progress from a knee injury that saw LaPorta leave the field on a cart in the Week 18 win over the Vikings. He participated fully in Friday’s practice.

On the bad news side, James Mitchell has been ruled out with a hand injury. Mitchell went from full participant on Wednesday to limited on Thursday and then no practice on Friday.

Two other players were ruled out. Cornerback Jerry Jacobs (thigh/knee) and wide receiver Kalif Raymond (knee) will not play. Jacobs is expected to head to the injured reserve list on Saturday, when coach Dan Campbell indicated the team will make transactions.

One of those transactions was expected to be the activation of EDGE James Houston from the injured reserve. Houston is currently listed as out, however.

The only other player with an injury designation is defensive lineman John Cominsky.  No. 79 is questionable with an undisclosed illness. Cominsky was inactive for the Vikings game with the illness.

Lions Thursday injury report: James Mitchell added, 3 OL return to action

Detroit Lions Thursday injury report: TE James Mitchell added, 3 OL return to action ahead of Sunday’s playoff game against the Rams

The penultimate Detroit Lions injury report for wild card week came out after Thursday’s practice session. Tight end Sam LaPorta and wideout Kalif Raymond were both still out with injuries suffered in the Week 18 win over Minnesota.

They were joined as non-participants by cornerback Jerry Jacobs (thigh/knee) and backup QB Teddy Bridgewater, who was out for personal reasons.

The only other player who wasn’t a full go was tight end James Mitchell, who was listed as limited with a hand injury. Mitchell was a full participant on Wednesday.

During Wednesday’s practice, offensive linemen Taylor Decker, Graham Glasgow and Frank Ragnow all sat out with veteran rest designation. They were all back on Thursday.

Lions final injury report for Week 18: No Jamo in the finale

Lions final injury report for Week 18: 3 Lions are ruled out including WR Jameson Williams

The final Detroit Lions injury status report for Detroit’s Week 18 matchup with the Minnesota Vikings is now out. The Lions officially ruled out three players due to injury, with four more listed as questionable for Sunday’s regular-season finale.

Wide receiver Jameson Williams is the most notable player ruled out. Williams suffered an ankle injury in the Week 17 loss to Dallas and did not practice all week. Tight end Brock Wright will miss his third straight game with a hip injury.

Also ruled out: EDGE James Houston. As head coach Dan Campbell indicated during the week, Houston is not ready yet to be activated off injured reserve.

Two other players currently on injured reserve are listed as questionable. Defensive tackle Alim McNeill and safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson are not yet activated, though that status could change before Sunday. Defensive tackle Benito Jones (illness) is also listed as questionable.

All three starting offensive linemen who missed various practice time during the week — LT Taylor Decker, RG Graham Glasgow and C Frank Ragnow — do not carry any injury designation into the game.

Lions final injury report for Week 17: Cam Sutton questionable, Brock Wright out

Lions final injury report for Week 17: Cam Sutton questionable, Brock Wright out for the game against the Cowboys

The final Detroit Lions injury status report for the Week 17 matchup with the Dallas Cowboys is, mercifully, a brief list. Only two players on the active roster carry any injury status at all into Saturday night’s game in Dallas.

Tight end Brock Wright will miss his second straight game with a hip injury. He is the only active player ruled out.

Starting cornerback Cam Sutton is questionable with a toe injury. Sutton was a full participant in the first two practices of the week but was limited by the new injury on Thursday.

Two players still on injured reserve but designated to return will not be activated this week, either. The Lions ruled out both DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson and EDGE James Houston. Thursday was Houston’s first practice since he suffered a serious ankle injury in Week 2.

Cornerback Jerry Jacobs and LB Derrick Barnes are both without injury designation a week after missing the Week 16 game with injuries. Left tackle Taylor Decker was also a full participant on Thursday and carries no injury status into Dallas.

One last note: Fullback Jason Cabinda was not given an injury designation, a good sign that he’s going to be activated from I.R. for the game.

Lions injury report: Kicking off Week 17 in good shape

Lions injury report: Kicking off Week 17 in good shape with only one active player out with an injury

It can be hard to keep track of what day it is during this holiday season, and also when the Detroit Lions will play again. On Tuesday, the day after Christmas, the Lions were back on the practice field to get ready for Saturday’s showdown with the Cowboys in Dallas.

The Lions held a walkthrough, which means the practice participation report is an estimation from the coaching staff. It’s a pretty brief report, nonetheless.

Only one player was deemed as unable to practice: tight end Brock Wright. He continues to be sidelined with a hip injury that also kept Wright out of the last week of practice and Sunday’s win over Minnesota.

There was also just one active player who was listed as limited. Left tackle Taylor Decker is dealing with a groin injury. Decker played every snap on Sunday.

Two players currently on injured reserve who have been designated to return, DB C.J. Gardner-Johnson and FB Jason Cabinda, were also listed as limited. Neither player is on the active roster as of Tuesday.

The two other Lions who missed the Vikings game with injuries were both back as full participants. Cornerback Jerry Jacobs (hamstring) and linebacker Derrick Barnes (shoulder) were full-go designations.

Lions final injury report vs. Vikings: 2 players out, 1 doubtful

Lions final injury report vs. Vikings: Jerry Jacobs and Brock Wright ruled out for Sunday’s game

The final Week 16 injury report for the Detroit Lions is a relatively short one. Two Lions have been ruled out for Sunday’s game in Minnesota, with another listed as doubtful.

Cornerback Jerry Jacobs (hamstring) and tight end Brock Wright (knee) did not practice all week and will not play on Sunday. In addition, linebacker Derrick Barnes is doubtful with a shoulder injury. No player listed as doubtful under Dan Campbell as head coach has ever played, so Barnes is effectively out as well.

Two players aiming to return from injured reserve will also not be activated this week. Defensive back C.J. Gardner-Johnson and fullback Jason Cabinda were ruled out, meaning they will say on I.R. through the weekend.

No other Lions carry any injury designation for Sunday’s game. That includes right tackle Penei Sewell, who was limited in practice early in the week with a shoulder issue. Sewell was a full participant on both Thursday and Friday.

Lions injury report: Penei Sewell is back as a full practice participant

Sewell and Levi Onwuzurike both returned to being full participants after being limited a day earlier

There was a welcome sight at Detroit Lions practice on Thursday. Right tackle Penei Sewell was a full participant in the practice session, a day after he was limited with a shoulder issue.

Sewell and defensive lineman Levi Onwuzurike were both fully active after being limited on Wednesday. Onwuzurike was back from a knee malady.

The only player currently active who carried a limited participant status on Thursday is LB Derrick Barnes, who injured his shoulder during the win over the Broncos but did play in that game after suffering the injury.

Both CB Jerry Jacobs and TE Brock Wright remained out for a second straight day. Jacobs is dealing with a hamstring issue while Wright is sidelined with a hip. Center Frank Ragnow took his customary veteran’s day of rest on Thursday, too.
