Illinois Wesleyan has won the past two NCAA Division III national titles, and the Titans still have the attention of Division III coaches.

Illinois Wesleyan has won the past two NCAA Division III national titles, and the Titans still have the attention of Division III coaches. The teams is ranked first in the Bushnell/Golfweek Preseason Coaches Poll after receiving eight of 10 first-place votes.

NCAA runner-up Methodist received another first-place vote and landed in second to start the season and the only other team to receive a first-place vote was Huntingdon, which landed fourth. Guilford landed in between.

Carnegie Mellon, Emory, Piedmont, Washington & Lee, Denison, and Trinity (TX) rounded out the top 10.

Illinois Wesleyan capped off its second NCAA Division III National Championship on May 14.

A year separates Illinois Wesleyan’s last national title from its current one, but let the record show that the Titans are COVID-era back-to-back national champions.

Illinois Wesleyan capped off its second NCAA Division III National Championship at Speidel Jones Course at Oglebay Resort and Golf Club in Wheeling, West Virginia, on May 14 with a 13-shot win over runner-up Methodist after finishing at 23 over for four rounds. The 2020 postseason was canceled in NCAA golf, but the Titans also won the national title in 2019, the last time the championship was played.

Illinois Wesleyan becomes the first team to win back-to-back national titles in Division III since St. John’s did it in 2007 and 2008. The team’s 72-hole total of 1,155 is the lowest stroke total in the championship since 1998.

The Titans placed four players inside the top 12, with senior Rob Wuethrich leading the way at 5 over, good for a T4 finish.

Webster claimed the individual medalist in Will Hocker, who finished the tournament at 2 over.

Illinois Wesleyan was ranked No. 1 for eight polls in a row but this time around, it’s Guilford’s turn at the top. The Greensboro, North Carolina, college won the Jekyll Island Collegiate on Sunday in Georgia, and saw James Mishoe take medalist honors in the event, his fifth collegiate title.

Methodist got four first-place votes and finds itself ranked second. Huntingdon, Emory and Illinois Wesleyan make up the rest of the top five.

The Titans, who have been ranked No. 1 in seven consecutive rankings dating back to last season, tallied 13 of the 16 first-place votes with No. 4 Carnegie Mellon getting a vote. Piedmont, tied for the fifth spot, received the other two first-place votes. Huntingdon, Emory and Carnegie Mellon find themselves in the 2-3-4 positions while Methodist is tied with Piedmont in that fifth spot.

Saint Johns(Minnesota), Redlands and Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute all joined the top 25 after being previously unraked.

The Titans, who received all 18 first-place votes, have now been ranked No. 1 in the last five Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Polls after posting four victories, and a win at the Battle For 51 Match Play during the 2019-20 season.

Huntingdon ranks second, followed by Emory, Carnegie Mellon, and Hampden-Sydney to round out the top five.

St. Thomas, Claremont Mudd-Scripps, Methodist, Gustavus Adolphus, and Wisconsin Eau-Claire all earn a spot in the top 10.

Piedmont (No. 24) rejoined the ranking while Christopher Newport fell from the ranking.
