Ice Vols to host Coastal Carolina this weekend.

The University of Tennessee hockey team will play its final home series this weekend.

The Ice Vols will host Coastal Carolina Saturday and Sunday at Cool Sports Icearium.

Opening faceoff for Saturday’s game is slated for 8 p.m. EST. The teams will conclude their series at 9 a.m. EST on Sunday.

The Ice Vols will honor its seniors Sunday.

Tennessee will close out the season at Vanderbilt Feb. 18-19 before heading to the College Hockey South (formerly South Eastern Hockey Conference) Tournament in Huntsville, Alabama, March 3-6.

The 2021-22 hockey season concludes with the Federation Cup March 18-23.

Tennessee has the oldest collegiate hockey club in the south as the Ice Vols were founded in 1966.

Tennessee redshirt senior quarterback Hendon Hooker will drop the puck for the Ice Vols’ game against Georgia Sunday.

“Hendon Hooker will drop the puck for us on Jan. 23,” the Ice Vols announced.

Puck drop is slated for 2:30 p.m. EST between Tennessee and Georgia. The contest will take place at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.

Hooker appeared in 13 games for the Vols in 2021. He transferred to Tennessee from Virginia Tech in Jan. 2021.

The 6-foot-4, 218-pound signal-caller is from Dudley High School in Greensboro, North Carolina.

Georgia defeats the Ice Vols.

Tennessee opened its 2022 spring semester schedule with a 9-2 loss to Georgia Saturday at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.

The Ice Vols faced a 4-1 deficit at the end of the first period.

Drew King and Pete Bunch each scored a goal for Tennessee.

King, a native of Marietta, Georgia, is a junior for the Ice Vols. He has 12 goals for Tennessee this season. He recorded 20 goals last year after scoring 10 as a freshman.

Tennessee will host Georgia Sunday at 2:30 p.m. EST. Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker will make the honorary puck drop.

The Ice Vols will resume its 2021-22 season Saturday.

Tennessee will host Georgia at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum in the first contest of a two-game series. Puck drop is slated for 10:45 p.m. EST.

The Ice Vols and Bulldogs will play following the Knoxville Ice Bears’ game against Vermilion on Star Wars night. Puck drop is slated for 7:35 p.m. EST.

Tennessee and Georgia will conclude their series Sunday at 2:30 p.m. EST.

The Ice Vols lose in overtime to Ole Miss.

Tennessee hockey returned to action Friday in a late-night showdown.

The Ice Vols dropped a 4-3 overtime decision to Ole Miss in a South Eastern Hockey Conference game at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.

Drew King scored two goals for Tennessee (3-4), including a third-period tally that sent the game to overtime.

Adam Carter also had a short-handed goal for the Ice Vols, who have played three overtime games early in the 2021-22 season. Tennessee is 2-1 in those games, having beaten Florida and South Carolina.

The loss snapped a two-game winning streak for the Ice Vols, who swept the Gamecocks in their home-opening series last week.

Tennessee and the Rebels conclude their SEHC series Sunday at 2:30 p.m. EDT.

The series opener against the Rebels will follow the 2021-22 season opener for the Southern Professional Hockey League’s Knoxville Ice Bears.

The Ice Bears are celebrating their 20th anniversary this season and will have a birthday party for the franchise with several promotions before and during the game against Macon.

The Ice Vols, who enter Friday’s contest on the heels of three consecutive wins over Florida and South Carolina, swept their first home series against the Gamecocks last season.

The Ice Vols (3-3) were victorious in their last game, notching a 4-3 overtime victory over South Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 10 as Drew King scored the game-winning goal in overtime.

King has two overtime game-winning markers this season.

The Ice Vols and Rebels will conclude their series Sunday with opening faceoff slated for 2:30 p.m. EDT.

Tennessee notched an overtime victory over South Carolina Friday night.

The Ice Vols outlasted South Carolina, 4-3 in overtime, at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum as Drew King scored the game-winning goal.

Tennessee (2-3) darted out to a 3-0 lead only to see the Gamecocks force overtime with three unanswered goals in regulation of the South Eastern Hockey Conference game.

Kieran Ogle scored a power play goal for the Ice Vols and Andrej Buchko tallied twice for Tennessee and scored a short-handed goal in the Ice Vols’ home opener.

It was the second overtime win for the Ice Vols, who beat Florida on Sept. 26. King had the game-winner to help Tennessee salvage a split with the Gators in Wesley Chapel, Florida.

The Ice Vols opened their 2021-22 season against Kentucky, where they were swept in Lexington.

Tennessee and the Gamecocks will conclude their two-game series Sunday in Knoxville at 3:30 p.m. EDT.

Tennessee notched its first victory of the 2021-22 season on Sunday.

The Ice Vols captured a 7-6 win over Florida at AdventHealth Center in Wesley Chapel, Florida.

Tennessee’s Drew King scored a game-winning goal against Florida, helping the Ice Vols salvage a split in the South Eastern Hockey Conference series.

Tennessee (1-3) lost the series opener, 8-7, on Friday.

The Ice Vols opened its season at Kentucky on Sept. 10.

The Wildcats swept a two-game series with a 9-4 victory on Sept. 11 after winning, 5-1, in the opener for both schools on Sept.10.

After a weekend off, the Ice Vols will open the home portion of their schedule on Oct. 8 against South Carolina at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.

Tennessee and the Gamecocks will conclude their series on Oct. 10 in Knoxville.

The Ice Vols are in their 55th season and are the oldest collegiate hockey club in the south. They began operation in 1966.

The Ice Vols announced its 2021-22 hockey schedule on Monday.

Tennessee will open the 2021-22 season Sept. 10 at Kentucky. The season-opening matchup will take place at Lexington Ice Center in Lexington, Kentucky.

The Ice Vols are slated to play at Florida Sept. 24 and Sept. 26 before its first home game of the season.

Tennessee will host South Carolina on Oct. 8 and Oct. 10 at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum.

The Ice Vols were founded in 1966. Tennessee is the oldest and most established hockey program in the southeastern United States. Tennessee competes in the South Eastern Collegiate Hockey Conference (SECHC).

Orange edges White in Ice Vols’ scrimmage

The University of Tennessee hockey club closed out its fall semester with an Orange and White intersquad game at the Knoxville Civic Coliseum Friday night.

The Ice Vols were originally scheduled to host UAB this weekend, but the games against the Blazers were canceled.

On Friday night, the Orange outlasted the White, 10-8, as they received goals from Justin Stackhouse, Matt Megazzini, Luke Schoenbrunn, Maclain Chaney and Nick Carline.

Team White’s Kiernan Ogle scored a hat trick. The White also saw goals Ryan Seibert, Andrej Buchko, Parker White and Ben Northern.

The Ice Vols have also had a series against Eastern Kentucky canceled due to COVID-19 concerns earlier this month.

The Ice Vols will return to the rink during the spring semester.
