As the NBA All-Star break approaches, teams around the league have a few more games to survive before finally getting to rest. An East vs. West clash on Tuesday between the Los Angeles Clippers and Philadelphia 76ers should be a very interesting matchup. Both teams are quite talented and are looking to climb up the standings.

The Clippers are within striking distance of their rivals, the Lakers, for the top spot in the Western Conference. They enter the week just three games back and are playing some good basketball heading into the break. With seven wins in their last 10 games, they could improve a bit in their consistency, but overall the new-look Clippers are right where they need to be for a second-half run. One worrying sign for Los Angeles could be Kawhi Leonard’s workload. The league’s seventh-highest scorer has already sat out 13 games this season due to injuries and fatigue.

For the Sixers, the situation is a bit more pressing. Everyone knows they have the talent to compete with any team in the league, but their performances and results this season have left a lot to be desired. Despite a current two-game winning streak, Philadelphia is just 5-5 in its last 10 games. Head coach Brett Brown has received the dreaded vote of confidence from general manager Elton Brand. However, if the Sixers don’t start living up to their potential in the second half of the season, some changes are likely to be made.

How to Watch Warriors vs. Celtics, NBA Live Stream, Schedule, TV Channel, Start Time

Both the Boston Celtics and Golden State Warriors have experienced changes this season, with the two teams going in opposite directions as a result of those changes. While the Warriors have struggled after losing most of their nucleus to free agency or injury, the Celtics have flourished and find themselves near the top of the Eastern Conference. When the two teams play in Boston on Thursday, the Celtics will look to keep those trends going.

The contest against the Celtics will be the second leg of a difficult East Coast road trip for the Warriors. Golden State entered this road trip having lost 13 out of 14 games and at the bottom of the Western Conference after so many years at the top of it. Without Steph Curry and Klay Thompson this season, things could continue to be an uphill climb.

Meanwhile, Boston enters this contest coming home after a three-game road trip. That road trip closed with a road game against the Miami Heat on Tuesday in which they won 109-101 after the Celtics split the first two games against the Orlando Magic and New Orleans Pelicans. Boston currently holds a top-four seed in the Eastern Conference but will need to continue winning as teams like the Pacers and Sixers are right behind them and could relegate the Celtics to a visiting role in the first round of the playoffs.

After a disappointing 2018-19 season, the Minnesota Timberwolves are poised to make a run at a playoff spot in the Western Conference, which is more wide open than in years past. On the back of one of the most exciting young tandems in the entire league, the hopes and expectations in the Twin Cities are rapidly rising.

Being a mid-market team in a league that functions on superstars teaming up is never easy. Free agents likely aren’t going to flock to your city. The solution? Draft well, trade well and build a solid foundation. That’s exactly what the Timberwolves have done through patience. It all starts with finding two young talents and developing them into emerging superstars. Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins were both drafted by Minnesota, both took some time to mature and now both are entering the primes of their careers and looking ready for breakout years.

Towns and Wiggins are both averaging above 25 points per game, which is tops for their young careers. It’s clear to see that they are the driving force behind the Wolves’ success. With a strong supporting cast that features Jeff Teague and Robert Covington, Minnesota has a chance to not only make the playoffs but advance past the first round, something it hasn’t done since 2004. Rebuilding is never easy, but it certainly appears that Minnesota is on the right track. With some luck and good decisions, this could be the start of something special.

Watch the Philadelphia 76ers Live Online.

Trusting the process has finally paid off in Philadelphia. After a long rebuilding period, the 76ers are now legitimate contenders in the Eastern Conference. In 2018, the young Sixers emerged as a serious threat late in the season with a remarkable 16-game win streak to close out the season. While their playoff run was cut short due to a loss to the eventual NBA champion Toronto Raptors, there’s a ton of expectations and hope for 2019.

So far, so good for the Sixers. All-Star center Joel Embiid has picked up right where he left off last season. He’s averaging 22.3 points per game, while also averaging 11.8 rebounds. Couple him with offseason acquisition Al Horford, who is putting up 15.9 points and 7.4 boards per game, and they have formed one of the most formidable frontcourt tandems in the league.

Philly isn’t just strong in the paint. In fact, the team has five players averaging double-figures in points. The Sixers also have a very solid bench to pull from in case of injury or fatigue. It’s for these reasons that many believe they’ll challenge for the top spot in the East. It won’t be easy with the likes of Milwaukee and Boston again looking strong, but there’s a ton of optimism around this talented bunch.
