Titans reveal the two games they’ll wear Oilers throwbacks for in 2023

The Titans revealed the two games in which they’ll wear Oilers throwbacks for in 2023, and yes, one of them comes against the Texans.

While we knew the Tennessee Titans would wear their sweet Houston Oilers throwbacks for two home games during the 2023 campaign, we didn’t know exactly when that would occur.

However, now we do, as the team revealed on Thursday morning that the Titans will wear their Oilers throwbacks for the Week 8 game against the Atlanta Falcons and the Week 15 contest against the Houston Texans.

The former matchup will also coincide with Oilers/Titans alumni weekend.

Of course, wearing the Oilers throwbacks in Houston would have been the most ideal, as it would have further pissed off the Texans’ already salty fan base and added a little extra juice to that game. But at least we get to see Tennessee wear them against their division rival.

While those are the only two games currently announced, Jim Wyatt of Titans Online noted that there is still an “outside chance” the Titans wear their Oilers threads for a road game.

While there’s still an outside chance the team could have an opportunity to wear them once on the road, the games against the Falcons and Texans are now confirmed.

Aside from the Titans wearing the best throwbacks in the game in general, the other significance of the first matchup is the fact that the Titans will welcome in former offensive coordinator Arthur Smith that week, also.

The Titans and Smith have squared off once since he left for the head coach gig with the Falcons, but that matchup came during the preseason and in Atlanta.

By the way, Smith is doing big things in Atlanta, as the Falcons head coach is now rocking this sweet ‘stache, which reminds us of head coach Mike Vrabel’s sweet caterpillar from 2019.

Eddie George, Warren Moon react to Titans’ Oilers throwbacks

Franchise legends Eddie George and Warren Moon weigh-in on the Titans’ Oilers throwbacks.

We’ve covered reactions from both sides of the aisle when it comes to the Tennessee Titans wearing Houston Oilers throwbacks since the team unveiled the uniform they’ll wear for two games during the 2023 season.

However, what are some of the franchise’s greatest players saying about those sweet Oilers threads? Well, we have reactions from two of them.

Oilers legend and Hall of Famer, Warren Moon, took to Twitter shortly after the uniform was revealed, rightly calling the throwbacks the “best looking outfit in football.”

“Can’t wait to see our old uniforms on the field again,” Moon tweeted. “Best looking outfit in football. Go Titans.”

On the team’s Instagram, a video was posted showing the team FaceTiming Oilers/Titans great Eddie George during the actual photoshoot ahead of the reveal, and he had quite the positive reaction (H/T Titans Opinion).

After it was originally thought the team would only wear the throwbacks once in 2023, the Titans’ official site revealed it would actually be two, although the exact games have yet to be revealed.

Titans’ Oilers throwbacks ranked among league’s best

In an article ranking the throwbacks set to be worn in 2023, the Titans’ Oilers-inspired uniforms were ranked among the best.

The Tennessee Titans have finally released their beloved Houston Oilers throwback uniforms that were well-received, but to the surprise of nobody, there are still some out there who don’t believe Tennessee should have them.

No matter how many times you explain it, there will always be those who genuinely believe that the Oilers’ uniforms should automatically belong to the city of Houston solely because that’s where they originated and were fielded up until the late 90s.

The team had previously used the Oilers throwbacks back in 2009, but they were ultimately forced to use the original 1960s version of the uniform (baby blue helmet) due to its specific ties to the AFL that year.

However, this time around, the Titans opted to go with the team’s most iconic combination of the uniform that included the white helmet and red face mask.

The Titans aren’t the only team to use throwback uniforms this year, but the Titans’ modern-day Oilers threads landed in the top three of the throwback uniform rankings by For the Win.

Robert Zeglinski of FTW recently ranked his top-seven throwback uniforms that were recently revealed, and he had the Titans coming in at No. 3, only trailing the Philadelphia Eagles and Seattle Seahawks.

Here is what Zeglinski had to say about the Oilers’ uniform the Titans unveiled on Sunday night.

These uniforms were some of the best in football history, and it’s a real shame someone decided to make the Titans look extremely generic once they moved to Nashville.

Regardless of which side of the debate you stand on, there’s at least one thing that it seems like everyone can agree on: these are undeniably some of the most aesthetically pleasing uniforms in NFL history.

Seeing them back on the field this fall is a win for football fans everywhere.

Titans’ Corey Levin cracks funny joke about Will Levis Oilers jersey

Titans OL Corey Levin had a funny joke about people accidentally buying his jersey instead of QB Will Levis’.

The Tennessee Titans finally unveiled their Houston Oilers throwbacks for the 2023 season on Sunday night, with the team announcing it would wear them for not one but two home games this coming campaign.

The throwbacks were rightly well-received by the vast majority of the football world, but the haters were also out in force saying the Titans shouldn’t own the rights to them.

But that didn’t spoil what was an awesome night for Titans fans, and especially those who actually followed the franchise to Tennessee.

In the wake of the reveal, Titans offensive lineman Corey Levin cracked a funny joke about people accidentally buying his Oilers jersey instead of rookie quarterback Will Levis’, seeing as how their last names are similar.

Twitter shows Titans’ Oilers throwbacks plenty of love, but haters still out there

While Titans fans and the vast majority of the football world loved the Oilers threads, there were still plenty of haters arguing Tennessee shouldn’t have them.

After being locked away for more than two decades, the Tennessee Titans have officially unveiled their incredible Houston Oilers throwback uniforms for the 2023 campaign.

The team made the easy decision to go with the most iconic version of the uniform which includes the white helmet and red face mask combination, along with the white pants and light blue jerseys.

[afflinkbutton text=”Shop all Titans’ Oilers Throwback Jerseys” link=”https://fanatics.93n6tx.net/1r7gqa”]

As you would imagine, seeing these beautiful uniforms for the first time in a modern version has lit the Titans’ fanbase on fire, and even more so for those who willingly made the transition from being Oilers fans to Titans fans following the team’s relocation to Tennessee.

Truthfully, they’re the ones who are often forgotten when it comes to the nonsensical debate surrounding who deserves the rights to the uniform. In reality, those loyal Oilers/Titans fans deserved this uniform unveiling more than anybody.

However, don’t tell that to the franchise’s depressed ex-girlfriend down in Houston. Predictably so, Houston sports fans are in their feelings over the fact that the Titans are celebrating their franchise’s legacy while they’re forced to watch from afar.

Regardless of how loud their sad soliloquies are, the fact is, the rights to the Oilers’ history belongs to the Adams family. And until that changes (don’t hold your breath), it’s a safe bet that Bud Adams’ legacy will reside in Nashville, Tennessee, forever.

Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait a little longer to see them back on the field, but for now, let’s take a closer look at how Titans fans reacted, as well as how the haters reacted. For more photos, check out this article.

Tennessee Titans unveil Houston Oilers throwbacks for 2023 season

On Sunday night, The Tennessee Titans finally unveiled the Houston Oilers throwbacks they’ll wear in 2023.

After teasing their fans for months, the Tennessee Titans have finally unveiled the Houston Oilers throwbacks they will wear during the 2023 campaign.

According to the team’s official site, Tennessee is set to wear the Oilers uniform for not one but two home games this coming season, although the exact games have yet to be revealed.

Also per the team, the Titans apparently tried to wear the throwbacks for their road game against the Miami Dolphins, but that didn’t come to fruition.

In a video released on social media, the team first goes over some of the history of the franchise when it was the Oilers, showing highlights from years past.

Then, later in the video, quarterback Ryan Tannehill, running back Derrick Henry, safety Kevin Byard and defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons can be seen wearing the legendary white helmet and pants, and light blue jersey.

In addition, “Luv Ya Blue” is written on the back neckline of the jersey.

Check out the video below.

Here are some photos of Henry, Byard, Tannehill and Simmons in their Oilers threads. Truly a thing of beauty.

The Oilers uniform combination will replace Tennessee’s light blue Titans jerseys, while the team will keep using the navy and white uniforms.

Texans legend J.J. Watt shares thoughts on Titans wearing Oilers throwbacks

J.J. Watt recently shared his thoughts on the Titans wearing Oilers throwbacks.

With the Tennessee Titans set to release the Houston Oilers throwback uniforms on Sunday night, the rights to the Oilers’ history has been a popular topic of conversation on social media as of late.

While many believe the Oilers’ history should have stayed in Houston, the reality is, this team will always belong to the Adams family and the Titans.

And if you realistically expect Amy Adams Strunk to ever give up her father’s legacy (Bud Adams founded the Oilers, of course), you’ll be disappointed.

Houston Texans legend, J.J. Watt, recently weighed in on how cool several of the throwback uniforms have been, and he admitted that as much as it “pains” him to see the Titans wearing it, seeing the Oilers uniform back on a football field is going to be a “great look.”

[afflinkbutton text=”Shop all Titans’ Oilers Throwback Jerseys” link=”https://fanatics.93n6tx.net/1r7gqa”]

Watt was then asked how something like that could possibly hurt him when he was never part of the Oilers franchise, and he gave a rather elaborate and respectable answer.

[lawrence-related id=72059]

“I lived in Houston for 10 years,” Watt wrote. “My first training camp I met Bum Phillips. I was coached by Wade [Phillips]. I’ve seen first hand how much the people of Houston loved the Oilers. Earl [Campbell], Bruce [Matthews], Warren [Moon], Dr. Doom [Robert Brazile], etc. Luv Ya Blue is real.

“So yeah it pains me for Houston and those fans.”

As sad as all of the soliloquies coming out of Houston have been in regard to the Titans having the rights to Oilers throwbacks, the simple solution they all could’ve chosen was to follow the team to Tennessee.

Perhaps those Oilers fans who didn’t make the transition into becoming Titans fans weren’t real fans of the franchise to begin with. Instead, they should be considered fans of Houston pro sports teams — and that’s perfectly OK.

As for the real supporters of the franchise who did evolve into Titans fans, they’ll finally have their loyalty rewarded this fall when they get the chance to cheer for their beloved Oilers once again.

ChatGPT ranks top 10 running backs in Notre Dame history

How do you feel about this list?

We recently put AI writing tool ChatGPT to the test and had it list what it believed was Notre Dame’s top 10 quarterbacks. The list surely caused some debate for some readers, but guess what? We’re going to cause you to think again by having it generate its list of the top 10 running backs in program history.

Some of you might disagree with what ChatGPT says, and others might even say the list is too short. However, the point of this is to make you think and spark discussion. Also, even though ChatGPT has not been updated since September 2021, it’s a safe assumption that no one on the Irish since then has played well enough to have a place on this list with the possible exception of [autotag]Kyren Williams[/autotag]. Just out of curiosity though, would you include him?

Anyway, without further adieu, here’s the list with ChatGPT’s descriptions of each player. Some entries have been edited for clarity and updates:
