The Charlotte Hornets (17-50) open a 4-game road trip against the Philadelphia 76ers (36-30) Saturday at Wells Fargo Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze FanDuel Sportsbook’s lines around the Hornets vs. 76ers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions.

Season series: 76ers lead 3-0; Hornets have covered 2 of the 3 meetings, including a 121-114 loss in Philadelphia March 1 as a 12-point underdog as the Over (212.5) cashed.

The Hornets suffered a 107-96 loss Friday in Charlotte, failing to cover as a 10.5-point underdog at most shops. The Under (220.5) cashed, and the total has now gone low in 12 of the past 15 outings.

The 76ers have dropped 5 of the past 6 games, while going 1-4-1 against the spread (ATS). The Under is on a 3-0-1 run in the past 4 outings, while cashing at a 9-3-1 clip in the previous 13 contests.

Philadelphia has won 5 in a row in the series, while going 8-2 straight up (SU) in the previous 10 meetings. The 76ers hold a slight 4-3 ATS edge in the past 7, with the Under going 3-1 in the previous 4 meetings.

Hornets at 76ers picks and predictions

Prediction

76ers 105, Hornets 101

Moneyline

The 76ers (-550) will cost you 5 1/2 times your potential return, and that’s too much risk for not nearly enough reward. Philadelphia’s offense has been awful lately, going for 109 or fewer points in 6 straight games, while posting a dismal 79 points in 2 of the past 3 games. Philly simply cannot be trusted.

However, the Hornets (+410) cannot be trusted, either, as they’re playing on zero rest after getting dropped by the Suns in Charlotte Friday night.

PASS.

Against the spread

The HORNETS +10.5 (-110) are the play catching double digits.

The 76ers -10.5 (-110) are just 1-4-1 ATS in the past 6 games and are 0-4 ATS in the past 4 tries as a favorite. Philly has failed to cover in the previous 4 times as a double-digit favorite, too.

Charlotte has managed a dismal 2-4 ATS in the past 6 games, but it is a respectable 3-2 ATS in the past 5 road contests, including its most recent trip to Philly March 1.

Over/Under

UNDER 209 (-112) is the best play on the board, even with this low number.

The Hornets have scored 100 or fewer points in 4 of the past 6 games, and the Under is 5-2 in the past 7 outings, and 12-3 in the previous 15 contests.

For the Sixers, they’ve cashed the Under at a 3-0-1 clip in the past 4 games, going for 95 or fewer points scored in 3 of those outings.

Charlotte Hornets at Philadelphia 76ers odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Charlotte Hornets at Philadelphia 76ers and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Charlotte Hornets (40-37) meet the Philadelphia 76ers (46-30) for a matinèe Saturday at the Wells Fargo Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hornets vs. 76ers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Charlotte is 5-2 straight up (SU) and 4-3 against the spread (ATS) over the past two weeks with the latest being a 125-114 victory at the New York Knicks Wednesday.

Philly lost its third consecutive game Thursday after getting upset by the Pistons 102-94 in Detroit as 10-point road favorites. In the last 14 days, the Sixers are 3-4 SU and 2-5 ATS.

The Sixers are 2-1 SU but 0-3 ATS versus the Hornets this season, and the total is 1-1-1 Over/Under (O/U).

Hornets at 76ers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Hornets 116, 76ers 112

Money line

SPRINKLE on the HORNETS (+175) because they have a strength-on-weakness edge over the 76ers (-220) in fast-break basketball and are trending in a better direction.

For instance, Charlotte is third in both fast-break frequency and fast-break points per game (PPG). While Philly’s defense has the third-WORST efficiency in transition and the third-WORST fast-break PPG allowed.

Furthermore, Sixers head coach Doc Rivers called out newly acquired SG James Harden‘s performance following Philly’s disappointing loss to Detroit Thursday, which indicates the stress and tension among the Sixers.

On top of that, Charlotte has been more efficient and profitable than Philly since Harden debuted with the Sixers Feb. 25.

The Hornets are fifth in adjusted net rating (plus-6.2) and fifth in ATS margin (plus-4.9), according to CleaningTheGlass.com over that span. While the Sixers are 11th in adjusted net rating (plus-3.2) and 18th in ATS margin (minus-0.8).

However, I’d only SPRINKLE on the HORNETS (+175), if at all, because Charlotte’s spread is the much sharper play.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

BET the HORNETS +5.5 (-112) heavier than or instead of their ML since Joel Embiid and Harden should propel the 76ers -5.5 (-105) to a victory, but Philly definitely won’t win by that margin.

Also, Charlotte is 3-0-1 ATS in the last 4 meetings with Philly, 6-1-1 ATS in the last 8 games as road underdogs and 12-8-1 ATS on the road versus teams with a winning record. Whereas the Sixers are 11-17 ATS at home (minus-2.6 ATS margin) and 8-14-1 ATS at home versus winning teams.

The HORNETS PLUS THE POINTS is my favorite wager in this game.

Over/Under

PASS because this is a sharp total, and there isn’t a big enough difference between my prediction and the projected total.

That said, I “lean” Under 229.5 (-107) because the Hornets are 5-21 O/U in their last 26 games as road underdogs, and the Sixers are 0-5 O/U in their last 5 games as home favorites.

Charlotte Hornets at Philadelphia 76ers odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Charlotte Hornets at Philadelphia 76ers and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Charlotte Hornets (22-19) head to the City of Brotherly Love Wednesday to play the Philadelphia 76ers (23-16) at Wells Fargo Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hornets vs. 76ers odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Charlotte won both games of a back-to-back set with the reigning champion Milwaukee Bucks Saturday and Monday, both at home. The Hornets won as 1.5-point favorites first and then again as 2.5-point underdogs.

The Hornets are 4-2 straight-up (SU), 4-2 ATS and 2-4 O/U with the 12th-best adjusted net rating at plus-2.2 points per 100 possessions over the last two weeks, according to CleaningTheGlass.com (CTG).

Philly has won eight of its last nine games (7-2 ATS) and the last four victories have been by double digits.

The Sixers have the second-best adjusted net rating at plus-14.5 points per 100 possessions and the fourth-best spread differential at a plus-6.8 ATS margin in the last 14 days, per CTG.

The Sixers have beaten the Hornets in 16 consecutive meetings including their first two this season, which were back-to-back games in Charlotte Dec. 6 and 8. However, the Hornets covered both games and were missing guards LaMelo Ball and Terry Rozier.

Hornets at 76ers odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

76ers 120, Hornets 110

Money line

PASS ON THE MONEY LINE.

I’m confident enough in Philly that I’d rather lay the points than pay the extra vig with the 76ers (-230).

Against the spread

BET the 76ERS -5.5 (-115) for 1 unit based on several reasons.

Sixers big Joel Embiid has manhandled the Hornets throughout his career. Embiid is averaging 27.1 points on 64.8% true shooting (.533/.341/.822) and 12.3 rebounds with a plus-17 net rating in 13 career games versus Charlotte. He’s never lost to the Hornets.

The Sixers also put a hurting on bad defenses. Philly is 15-3 SU versus teams with a bottom-10 adjusted defensive rating with the third-best adjusted net rating at plus-10.2 points per 100 possessions and the fifth-best ATS margin (CTG).

Curry, Harris and Embiid like to operate in the mid-range. Philadelphia attempts the fifth-highest percentage of mid-range jumpers in the NBA while the Hornets have the second-worst defensive field goal percentage versus mid-range shots, per CTG.

Finally, the Hornets have gotten smacked around by good teams. Charlotte is 5-11 SU against teams in the top-10 of adjusted net rating. Charlotte ranks 20th in adjusted net rating at minus-6.7 points per 100 possessions and 19th in ATS margin (CTG) against those top-10 teams.

BET 76ERS -5.5 (-115).

Over/Under

PASS ON THE TOTAL with a slight “lean” to the Over 226.5 (-110) because Charlotte has one of the worst defenses in the Association and the Over is 7-1-1 in the last nine Hornets-76ers meetings.

However, the situational trends for both teams point in opposite directions and the Hornets play at the second-fastest pace while the Sixers play at the fourth-slowest pace.

Charlotte Hornets at Philadelphia 76ers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Charlotte Hornets at Philadelphia 76ers NBA betting odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Charlotte Hornets (2-4) wrap up their back-to-back with the Philadelphia 76ers (5-1) Monday at Wells Fargo Center with a 7 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Hornets-76ers NBA betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

These teams played head-to-head Saturday and the 76ers dismantled the Hornets in a 127-112 win. Philadelphia also covered the spread as a 9.5-point favorite. The 76ers shot 59.5% from the field, 45.7% from 3-point range and had more points in the paint and fast-break points.

It was a more balanced effort from the 76ers as well. All five 76ers starters shot at least 50% from behind the arc, aside from PG Ben Simmons, who didn’t attempt a three but did mess around and get a triple-double.

One of the bright spots for the Hornets was PG Terry Rozier erupting for 35 points on 12-for-18 shooting. Philadelphia has won 11 straight vs. Charlotte and they covered the spread in three of the last four meetings.

Hornets at 76ers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 122, Hornets 105

Money line (ML)

PASS ON THE MONEY LINE. My read is the 76ers will move to 6-1 after beating the Hornets Monday night but there’ve been several teams already this season to get rolled in the first game of a back-to-back only to turn around and win the second meeting.

As always, betting this pricy of a favorite is a no-go for me in the NBA regular season.

Against the spread (ATS)

I only lean 76ERS -9.5 (+100) for a half-unit because it’s so difficult for teams to win back-to-back games over the same opponent. I cannot stop looking at the glaring mismatches at center and point guard (Joel Embiid vs. Bismack Biyombo and Simmons vs. Devonte’ Graham).

Charlotte head coach James Borrego is in a tough spot with Graham who shoots 25% from the field and 28.6% from deep but averages 7 assists to 0.8 turnovers per game. He’s essentially Fun-Size Ben Simmons: 6-foot-1 guard (allegedly) who cannot shoot but can be trusted with the ball.

Obviously, the real Simmons is a max player, All-Star and walking triple-double hence the mismatch. You could argue Borrego should start rookie PG LaMelo Ball but he might not have much better luck in this game.

It’s just too tough to beat a team twice in a row by double-digits. That’s why it’s a lean.

Over/Under (O/U)

I’ll put 1 unit on the OVER 221.5 (-110). It’s too easy for the 76ers to get good looks vs. the Hornets given the easy matchups for Philadelphia’s stars.

The gravitational pull they’ll have on the Hornets defense will open up wide-open looks for the 76ers players who are more than capable of knocking them down. Also, all Charlotte needs to get to 100-plus points is for another Hornet to help out Rozier and SF Gordon Hayward.

Hornets at 76ers: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 113, Hornets 108

Money line (ML)

The Hornets were rolled 108-93 on New Year’s Day by the injury-depleted Memphis Grizzlies as 4-point home favorites. Charlotte shot terribly all over the court, going 40.7% from the field, 29% from behind the 3-point arc and 66.7% from the charity stripe. They had fewer rebounds, assists, points in the point and fast-break points, and more turnovers.

Philadelphia ran the then-undefeated Orlando Magic out of the gym, leading by 38 points at one point in a 116-92 road win as a 3.5-point favorite on New Year’s Eve. The 76ers led the Magic in fast-break points 18-2 and held Orlando to 34.7% field-goal shooting and 25% from three for the game. PF Joel Embiid tied for a game-high 21 points on 7-for-11 shooting with 9 rebounds, 2 blocks and zero turnovers.

The 76ers have beaten the Hornets in 11 straight head-to-head matchups, in fact, Embiid and PG Ben Simmons have never lost to Charlotte. The last five victories have come within how much Philadelphia is favored Saturday.

On one hand, we’re getting value because Charlotte was terrible last night and Philadelphia looks like an early-season NBA Finals contender, but on the other hand, the 76ers have owned the Hornets recently.

I lean HORNETS (+360) for a quarter-unit because I’m going to take them plus the points. The 76ers will probably edge them out but my long-term sports betting strategy is to sprinkle on an underdog’s money line when taking them to cover the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

It’s rare when we follow and not fade the market, but let’s TAKE HORNETS +9.5 (-110) because that appears to be the sharp side. According to Pregame.com, 57% of the action is on Charlotte despite them getting destroyed by the Grizzlies and Philadelphia looking great so far.

The Hornets are 9-3 ATS off of no rest and have covered in 55% of their games as road dogs since the beginning of last season.

Over/Under (O/U)

lean UNDER 216.5 (-110) because I think the trend of four straight Unders in Hornets-76ers games is stronger than these teams being a combined 1-9 O/U so far this year. Still, I’d put only a tiny wager on this.

Also, the Hornets offense was so bad last night that I am expecting a bounce-back performance and effort. They were getting some quality looks, just very few of them fell.
