Former Saints fan-favorite had poignant reaction to Cameron Jordan’s final 2024 home game

Former Saints fan-favorite Thomas Morstead shared a poignant reaction to what may have been Cameron Jordan’s final home game: ‘You never know what the future holds’

Thomas Morstead knows what it’s like to play your last game in front of the home crowd at the Caesars Superdome. The former New Orleans Saints punter was one of the most beloved members of the team during his 12-year career in black and gold, frequently working to help out in the community and often answering tough questions in front of cameras while doing his part to be a good leader.

That didn’t stop him from getting cut in 2021 when the Saints thought they could get younger and cheaper at the position. It’s a position Cameron Jordan could soon find himself in, too. Morstead shared a poignant reaction to videos of Jordan spending hours after what may have been his final home game last Sunday signing autographs and dapping up fans.

“Glad he got to soak it all in with the fans,” Morstead wrote on social media. “You never know what the future holds!”

The Saints were wrong about their gamble in replacing Morstead so easily; while he’s punted for three different teams (the New York Jets, twice, plus the Miami Dolphins and Atlanta Falcons) in the years since his release, the Saints have cycled through just as many replacements. Blake Gillikin, Lou Hedley, and now Matthew Hayball have each had their turn at replacing the former Pro Bowler.

Maybe that calculation has different results when it’s focused on Jordan. The veteran defensive end’s production doesn’t match his pay and there’s a real possibility he’ll be let go this offseason because of it. And if that’s the case, Jordan has indicated he’ll keep playing somewhere else in the NFL, even if he’d rather finish his career where it started. Jordan made sure to enjoy his time with the fans that have supported him all these years, and for his part Morstead was happy to see his old teammate get that opportunity. Not many players know when it’ll be their last time to do so.

Pittsburgh has seemingly taken over D.C. ahead of Week 10 matchup

Fans of the Black and Gold seem ready to outnumber the Burgundy and Yellow, potentially forcing a silent count in Washington for Week 10.

Fans of the Black and Gold have arrived in droves in the nation’s capital to represent their Pittsburgh Steelers as they take on the Washington Commanders in Week 10.

It seems that no matter where the Steelers travel—Las Vegas, Atlanta, Los Angeles, Denver, or perhaps even the moon—Steelers Nation shows up in astonishing numbers.

Ahead of the Week 10 contest, a video circulating on social media highlights the potential impact Pittsburgh fans could have on what should have been a tough road game for the Steelers.  Adding fuel to this passionate fire is the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins defeating the Washington Capitals on Friday.

Will Steelers fans be able to outnumber Commanders fans, forcing the home team to work off a silent count for the majority of the contest? Pittsburgh could use the extra support as they face a very formidable Commanders team in a game that could set the tone for the second half of the 2024 season.

Packers look to build on four-game win streak at Lambeau against Rams

The #Packers have won their last four games against the #Rams at Lambeau Field

The Green Bay Packers have taken a noticeable step backward in 2022, but have a chance to secure their sixth win of the season against the defending Super Bowl champions in Week 15. They have won their last four games against the Los Angeles Rams at Lambeau Field by a margin of 116-59 points.

Though they’ll have their patented home-field advantage in this game playing in front of the Green Bay faithful, the matchup will be anything but a cakewalk. The Rams are exceptionally well-coached under Sean McVay and his exceptional staff of experienced assistants and can put a hurt on any opponent that takes the challenge of playing them lightly.

Los Angeles will be led by former first-overall pick Baker Mayfield under center, who was claimed by the Rams last week before starting his first game for the team in what would turn into one of the most improbable comeback efforts of the season against the Las Vegas Raiders. Mayfield’s struggles at the NFL levels are well-documented, but his natural talent makes him a threat as an improvisational playmaker with the ability to find open receivers downfield with expert precision.

The Packers will also have to contend against the Rams’ exceptional defense, headlined by former defensive player of the year Aaron Donald and a cast of up-and-coming talent that has played some scrappy football this season. Donald can take over any matchup against lesser offensive linemen when he is schemed into favorable matchups, and Aaron Rodgers will need to stay on his toes to avoid letting the defensive lineman take over the game.

All in all, Green Bay has the skills and talent necessary to extend their home winning streak against Los Angeles, but they certainly can’t afford to get complacent in their efforts on Monday. Watch for Matt LaFleur to bring a heady game plan into the matchup to dissect the Rams’ defense, and for Rodgers to make some incredible plays to help lift the Packers to victory.

The Lions announced that they are offering fans an opportunity to purchase cutouts to be displayed at home games and will benefit charities.

The Detroit Lions announced that they are offering fans an opportunity to purchase cutouts to be displayed at Ford Field during home games with the proceeds benefiting charities.

“Though the enthusiasm and energy Lions fans bring to Ford Field on game days can’t be replaced, we are excited to offer an alternative representation of that support at home games this season,” said Detroit Lions Senior Vice President of Business Development Kelly Kozole via a team press release. “The COVID-19 pandemic has hit our region hard and this is another great opportunity to give back, and given the circumstances, have some fun with our fans.”

You can purchase individual games for $50 or upgrade to a full season for $150 (season ticket holders get a discount, with the full season option only costing $125) and the cut outs will be displayed in the lower bowl and end zones — but there is an additional Barry Sanders exclusive option as well.

Per the Lions website, this exclusive option includes, a self cut out and Barry Sanders’ cutout will be placed next to each other in exclusive seats above the tunnel. “A photo of your cutout next to Barry Sanders’ at the game you purchase will be taken and autographed by Barry Sanders then mailed to you. Purchase this one game option for $1,000. Cut out will also remain in the stadium all other games.”

Proceeds from fan cut purchases will benefit Detroit Lions CharitiesGame on Cancer, and Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS).
