Former Auburn TE Micah Riley commits to fellow SEC program

Auburn will face Riley as part of its 2025 schedule.

The winter transfer portal opened this week, and 11 members of Auburn football’s 2024 roster entered in hopes of continuing their careers in a new setting. On Thursday, one of those players announced that he had found a new home.

[autotag]Micah Riley[/autotag], who played three seasons for the Tigers from 2022-24, shared Thursday on his social media accounts that he has committed to a fellow SEC program, Texas A&M. Riley tweeted a photo of him in a Texas A&M uniform with the “thumbs up” emoji, a nod to the Aggies’ “gig ’em” hand gesture.

Riley appeared in 24 games for Auburn over three seasons, totaling 200 snaps. His best season stat-wise was his redshirt freshman season in 2023 when he logged two catches for 40 yards and one touchdown. Last season, Riley caught a three-yard touchdown pass in Auburn’s win over New Mexico for his only reception.

Following the departures of [autotag]Rivaldo Fairweather[/autotag], [autotag]Brandon Frazier[/autotag], and [autotag]Luke Deal[/autotag] to graduation and the loss of Micah Riley and [autotag]Grant Hidalgo[/autotag] to the transfer portal, Auburn’s tight end room will be depleted heading into 2025. [autotag]Rico Walker[/autotag], a 2024 transfer from Maryland, as well as 2025 signees [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag] and [autotag]Hollis Davidson[/autotag], are prime candidates to step in and take over the leading role of tight end next season.

Three-star TE Hollis Davidson reaffirms commitment to Auburn, chooses Tigers over Florida State

Davidson is set to rejoin Auburn’s 2025 class after backing off his pledge in May.

Auburn football earns a gift on Independence Day in the form of a re-commitment.

[autotag]Hollis Davidson[/autotag], a three-star tight end from Peachtree City, Georgia, rejoins Auburn’s 2025 class after backing off his pledge in May. He chose the Tigers over Florida State on Thursday, becoming Auburn’s 15th commitment of the cycle.

In May, Davidson shared in a tweet that he felt it was too early to have a college plan set in stone. Following his de-commitment from Auburn, Florida State began trending upward for Davidson. However, after another tight end pledged to Florida State, Davidson’s thoughts shifted back to Auburn says Zach Blostein of 247Sports.

Florida State was the school trending for Hollis Davidson after he decommitted from Auburn in early May and even coming out of his official visit to Tallahassee in late June, we felt good about where the ‘Noles stood in his recruitment. However, things changed once FSU got a commitment from four-star tight end Chase Loftin — a prospect we viewed as higher on the priority list for FSU at the position. Davidson began to trend back to the program he was formerly committed to shortly after Loftin picked the ‘Noles and therefore, I’m expecting the Tigers to add him back to their recruiting class today.

Davidson becomes Auburn’s first commitment of July, and he joins fellow Georgian [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag] as a tight end commitment for Auburn’s 2025 class. Davidson is the No. 31 tight end for the 2025 cycle, and the No. 52 recruit from Georgia.

Auburn in prime position to bring back Hollis Davidson to 2025 recruiting class

Davidson will announce his decision on July 4. Could Auburn win his pledge for a second time?

Former Auburn commit [autotag]Hollis Davidson[/autotag] backed off his pledge to the Tigers in May, citing that he made a decision too early.

However, Auburn has remained in constant contact with Davidson since he de-committed which has paid off. Davidson is set to announce his commitment this week and Auburn remains in the hunt. The three-star tight end from Peachtree City, Georgia will choose between Auburn and Florida State on Thursday, July 4.

Ahead of his commitment, recruiting experts are certain that Auburn will win the sweepstakes again. Jeffrey Lee of Auburn Live has submitted a prediction for Auburn to land Davidson for the second time, doing so with 60% confidence.

Lee says that Davidson’s official visit to the Plains last month re-kindled the spark that he had for Auburn. During Davidson’s visit, he spent plenty of time with tight ends coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag], who showed him how he would be used in the Tigers’ offense.

“Probably my position meeting with Coach Ben (Aigamaua),” Davidson said in a recent interview with On3. “It was good. He showed me the specifics of how he would use me in the offense. He had already showed me that, but we had some good conversations in that room. I had a great time in there.”

With Lee’s prediction, Auburn has a 96.0% chance to land Davidson according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine. If he chooses the Tigers again, Davidson will be the second tight end to commit to Auburn’s 2025 class, joining fellow Georgian [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag].

Coveted 2025 tight end sets official visit date with Florida football

This former Auburn commit will be on campus in June to get a gander at the Gators.

Chalk up another member of the 2025 high school recruiting class that has set an official visit with the Florida Gators.

Three-star tight end [autotag]Hollis Davidson[/autotag] out of Peachtree City (Georgia) McIntosh was formerly committed to the Auburn Tigers a few months ago but reopened his recruitment by returning to the market. According to Swamp247, the 6-foot-6-inch, 230-pound prospect will be in Gainesville the weekend of June 7 for his OV.

The Peach State product also has an official visit set with the Florida State Seminoles on June 21 as well as a game day visit when Auburn hosts the Texas A&M Aggies this fall. That leaves a couple of openings for other suitors in the coming months.

Recruiting Summary

Davidson is ranked No. 418 overall and No. 23 at his position nationally according to the 247Sports composite while the On3 industry ranking has him at Nos. 409 and 23, respectively.

Auburn still holds two crystal ball predictions from 247Sports while On3’s recruiting prediction machine gives it an 82.7% chance of landing him. FSU (6.5%), Florida (4.5%) and the Tennessee Volunteers (1.9%) lag far behind in the race for Davidson’s talents.

Auburn adds four-star LB Tyler Lockhart to its 2025 haul

Auburn snagged one of Mississippi’s top 2025 recruits late Monday night.

Auburn fans were disappointed to learn of three-star tight end [autotag]Hollis Davidson[/autotag]’s decision to back off his pledge to the Tigers Monday afternoon. However, their dismay was short-lived as Auburn picked up a commitment from a four-star linebacker in the late hours of the day.

In a surprising move, four-star linebacker [autotag]Tyler Lockhart[/autotag] announced his commitment to Auburn as Tiger fans were preparing to go to bed. According to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine, the Mississippi native was forecasted to stay in-state by committing to Mississippi State. However, he elected to go in another direction by joining Auburn’s 2025 haul.

Lockhart’s decision to commit to Auburn comes after a March visit to campus. In an interview with Jeffrey Lee of Auburn Live, Lockhart said that he enjoyed the energy of an Auburn practice, and believed that he would be a great fit in Auburn’s linebacker room. He also says that he has built a strong relationship with defensive coordinator [autotag]DJ Durkin[/autotag] and looks forward to getting to know head coach [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag].

With his commitment, Lockhart becomes the fourth-highest-ranked commitment to join Auburn’s 2025 class which currently stands at 10 members. He is a four-star rated linebacker by all four major recruiting sources and ranks as high as No. 10 at his position by ESPN. The Winona, Mississippi product is a top-10 recruit from the state and ranks as high as No. 4 for the 2025 class.

Auburn TE commit Hollis Davidson decommits from the Plains

After being committed to Auburn for three months, 2025 tight end Hollis Davidson announces he is decommitting from the program on Monday

Auburn football is currently attempting to make statements on the recruiting trail for both the near and far future. While commitments continue to come in, the Tigers now have to recover from a decommitment on Monday.

Auburn football has hauled in its second tight end commitment of the 2025 recruiting cycle.

[autotag]Hollis Davidson[/autotag], a three-star tight end from McIntosh High School in Peachtree City, Georgia, announced Tuesday that he will pledge his commitment to Auburn. He chose [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and the Tigers over programs such as Ole Miss, Arkansas, and Kentucky.

Auburn lands commitment from 2025 3-star tight end

Auburn picked up a commitment from a three-star tight end in the 2025 class.

Auburn and head coach Hugh Freeze picked up the eighth commitment of the 2025 cycle Tuesday afternoon, as Hollis Davidson officially committed to the Tigers.

Davidson is rated as a three-star tight end in the 2025 class according to the 247Sports Composite and attends McIntosh High School in Georgia. Along with that ranking, Davidson is also rated as the nation’s No. 21 tight end for the 2025 cycle, as well as the No. 42 player in the state of Georgia.

The three-star is coming off a junior season in which he amassed 436 yards and three touchdowns on 30 receptions for a McIntosh team that reached the first round of the 2023 GHSA AAAAA state playoffs.

Davidson now joins an Auburn class that is currently among the SEC’s best for the 2025 cycle and is the second tight end in the group alongside Ryan Ghea. Ghea is also from the state of Georgia out of Milton High School, and is a three-star prospect as well.

Auburn Tigers make three-star TE’s Hollis Davidson’s top seven

The Auburn Tigers have made the cut for tight end Hollis Davidson, who is down to seven schools.

The Auburn Tigers are looking to sign multiple tight ends in the 2025 recruiting class and one of their targets is [autotag]Hollis Davidson[/autotag]. The interest is mutual as the three-star prospect included Auburn in his top seven schools on Friday.

The Tigers are battling Miami, Penn State, Georgia Tech, Florida State, Florida, and Cincinnati for him. Auburn and tight ends coach [autotag]Ben Aigamaua[/autotag] offered him a scholarship on Oct. 21, 2023, and have been pursuing him ever since.

[autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and Aigamaua stopped by McIntosh High School on Thursday to visit Davidson. It was their first time getting to see him since he visited the Plains for the Iton Bowl last season.

Davidson is the No. 365 overall player and No. 20 tight end in the 247Sports composite ranking. The Peachtree City native is also the No. 40 player from Georgia.

The 6-foot-5, 230-pounder caught 30 passes for 436 yards and three touchdowns last season.

Auburn has already landed one tight end in the 2025 recruiting cycle in three-star [autotag]Ryan Ghea[/autotag], who is also from Georgia. The Tigers have not signed a highs chool tight end since [autotag]Micah Riley[/autotag] in 2022 and are looking to add some much needed youth to the room.

Gators getting pair of 2025 tight end prospects on campus

Florida is hosting a ton of class of 2025 recruits over the next few weeks, including tight ends Micah Jones and Hollis Davidson next week.

Florida is ramping up its recruitment of the class of 2025 and scheduling visits with several targets for the upcoming weeks. A group of prospects are expected in town over each of the next three weekends, and a pair of three-star tight ends just got added to the list.

According to a report from Swamp247, Florida will get a pair of three-star tight ends on campus on Jan. 20 — Peachtree City’s Hollis Davidson and Madison Central’s Micah Jones.

Jones picked up an offer from Florida in August, and he traveled to Gainesville to see the Gators take down the Tennessee Volunteers. Davidson was offered in October, but this will be his first trip to The Swamp.

Davidson is ranked No. 363 on the 247Sports composite and Jones is at No. 462. On3 is a bit more bullish on Jones, however, granting him four-star status and ranking him No. 290 on the site’s standalone list.
