The Broncos agreed to terms on a two-year deal with former Seahawks and Steelers tight end Nick Vannett earlier this week. Here are some highlights from Vannett’s career before he landed in Denver.

(If the video does not play on this website, you can watch it on YouTube.)

Vannett (6-6, 261 pounds) is a 27-year-old veteran who is entering his fifth season in the NFL. Vannett will likely serve as the team’s No. 2 tight end this season, teaming up with promising second-year tight end Noah Fant.

Vannett has caught 61 passes for 591 yards and four touchdowns in his career. In Seattle and Pittsburgh, he was used primarily as a blocking tight end.

The arrival of Vannett might be a sign that Denver is planning to move on from Jeff Heuerman. The Broncos might try to trade Heuerman during the weekend of the draft and if they are unable to find a trade partner, the team might end up releasing Heuerman, a former third-round pick.

Watch: The best plays from Alvin Kamara’s 2019 highlight reel

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara reached his third Pro Bowl appearance in as many years, making for a sweep 2019 highlight reel.

[jwplayer CcMnGV6Q-ThvAeFxT]

Alvin Kamara has only played in the NFL for three years, but the New Orleans Saints all-star has been voted into the Pro Bowl in each of his first three seasons. That’s a point the official Saints Twitter account helpfully drove home when shared a highlight reel of Kamara’s biggest plays from the 2019 season, in which the running back ran through, over, and around many of the best defenders in the game today.

Even though Kamara did struggle with a couple of lower-leg injuries in 2019, he didn’t take as far of a step back as it may have felt like. He still averaged 95 yards from scrimmage per game and ranked among the best runners in the league on his workload. And this quick highlight tape shows that the ability to make a play is always there with A.K. Now that he’s feeling more like himself, he and his fans should expect a bounce back in what may be a contract year in 2020.

Watch: Deatrick Nichols highlights with XFL’s Roughnecks, USF Bulls

The New Orleans Saints signed XFL interceptions leader Deatrick Nichols, who starred for the Houston Roughnecks and the USF Bulls in college

[jwplayer KB25GEDc-ThvAeFxT]

The New Orleans Saints made a big pickup from the XFL on Monday by signing defensive back Deatrick Nichols to a one-year contract, adding a versatile cover corner with experience in the slot. Nichols is known for his knack for making big plays (he led the league with three interceptions in its first five weeks), which he credits to meticulous film study.

Nichols and teammate Cody Brown each intercepted Dallas Renegades quarterback Landry Jones early in their game, prompting a sideline interview shared by the FOX Sports broadcast. Brown said that they had noticed some cues on Jones’ previous game tape that put them in the right position, and Nichols agreed, saying, “Just like he said, (we’ve been) watching film since last Sunday, and letting plays come to us.”

Later in the game, Nichols again put himself in the right spot at the right time to intercept Jones one more time. It’s something he’s had a gift for since his college days at Southern Florida, which the USF Bulls official Twitter account proudly shared in their own highlight reel of Nichols’ best moments. See it for yourself to get an idea of the kind of talent the Saints are adding:

WATCH: Highlights of new Chiefs QB Jordan Ta’amu

Watch some of the most exciting moments from the career of the Kansas City Chiefs’ newest quarterback.

New Kansas City Chiefs QB Jordan Ta’amu has taken a unique route to the NFL.

He grew up in Pearl City, Hawaii and played for the Pearl City High School Chargers. He’d travel to the continental United States and attend JUCO at the New Mexico Military Institute for two seasons before transferring to the University of Mississippi. He originally was slated to be the backup to Shea Patterson but was thrust into action for the final five games of the season, when Patterson was injured.

Ta’amu entered the 2019 NFL draft and went undrafted. He signed with the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent in August but didn’t make it through September roster cuts.

Later that year, Ta’amu would be allocated to the St. Louis BattleHawks in the XFL’s reboot, becoming the first player on the team. Coach and GM Jonathan Hayes built his offense around Ta’amu, which became one of the most efficient in the league through five games.

Below you’ll find highlights of Ta’amu dating back to his time in JUCO and through his time in the XFL. It’ll help give you an idea of the types of plays that he’s most successful on and what the Chiefs are getting in their new quarterback.

Sunday Rewind: The best plays of Malcolm Jenkins’ first stop in black and gold

Malcolm Jenkins returned after a long stint with the Eagles, but the Ohio State prospect already had an impressive Saints highlight reel.

[jwplayer JkruL4rc-ThvAeFxT]

It didn’t take long for Malcolm Jenkins to put together a highlight reel when the New Orleans Saints drafted him out of Ohio State, back in the day. Unfortunately, too many negative plays sent him to the Philadelphia Eagles right when he was hitting his stride.

The good news is that the Saints have corrected that mistake by agreeing to terms with Jenkins to a four-year contract in free agency. It’s a popular move in the Saints locker room, and for good reason; Jenkins has become one of the better safeties around the league after six years in Philly, and he offers badly-needed experience and playmaking ability as a two-time Super Bowl champion and three-time Pro Bowler.

But many of Jenkins’ new teammates probably missed the brightest moments in his first stint in New Orleans. He’s one of just three players still around from the roster that won Super Bowl XLIV, along with Drew Brees and Thomas Morstead. So here’s a quick refresher, led off by his momentum-shifting fumble off of Roy Williams back in 2010’s Thanksgiving game, and followed by a pick-six returned 96 yards against Sam Bradford and the then-St. Louis Rams (one of two interceptions Jenkins snagged that day). See them all for yourself:

Gordon (6-1, 215 pounds) spent the first five years of his career with the Chargers after being selected by the team in the first round of the 2015 NFL draft. The Wisconsin product has made two Pro Bowls in his career, which means Denver now has a pair of Pro Bowl running backs.

Phillip Lindsay also has a Pro Bowl on his resume and he’s not going anywhere. The Broncos will use Gordon and Lindsay as a one-two punch. Royce Freeman will likely be demoted to RB3 duties.

Gordon, 26, has rushed for 4,240 yards and 36 touchdowns in his career. He has also totaled 1,873 receiving yards and 11 touchdown catches.

It is played upon the conclusion of said tournament as the sort of unofficial goodbye to the college hoops season.

Watch: Cameron Jordan works XFL sideline for New York-Dallas game

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan tried out as a sideline reporter during the XFL’s game between New York and Dallas teams.

[jwplayer t8N0wnFu-ThvAeFxT]

New Orleans Saints defensive end Cameron Jordan tried out for a new job this weekend, patrolling the sidelines of Saturday’s XFL game between the New York Guardians and Dallas Renegades. It’s the latest media appearance Jordan has made, following previous brushes with NFL Network’s  “Good Morning Football” program and SiriusXM’s “The Rich Eisen Show.”

This time, though, Jordan wasn’t the one being interviewed. It was his responsibility to hold the microphone and ask pertinent questions of players as they left the field, doing his best to make for good TV.

And Jordan was a natural in the role, later joking that, “I channeled my inner WDSU team.” He chopped it up with players from both teams after big on-field moments, showing an easy comfort in relating their experiences to the cameras.

While it appears he’ll have an easy transition from his days on the NFL field to a media role — in whatever medium it may end up landing — Jordan made it clear that he doesn’t intend to hang his cleats up any time soon.

Here are some of his highlights in those instant-reaction interviews:
