Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class rises in the rankings after recent commitments

Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class is gaining momentum

Next summer, the 2026 recruiting cycle will begin to take shape, but things are already in motion for Texas A&M under head coach Mike Elko and his coaching staff after landing two premier 2026 prospects over the last two days.

On Thursday, one of the top signal callers in the 2026 class, 4-star quarterback Helaman Casuga out of Draper, Utah, chose the Aggies over his hometown Utah Utes and USC after developing a close relationship with first-year offensive coordinator Collin Klein, who has quickly become a respected play caller amid his first season with the program.

On Friday, 2026 4-star defensive lineman Trashawn Ruffin announced his commitment to Texas A&M over LSU, Ohio State, and many other blue-blood programs, as the future nose tackle has a path to the NFL if he continues to develop at the next level. Credit goes to Texas A&M DL coaches Sean Spencer and Tony Jerod-Eddie, who have continued to help the program land future playmakers in the defensive trenches

After both commitments, Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class is now ranked 9th in the 247Sports team rankings:

  1. Oregon Ducks: 7 commits
  2. Florida State: 6 commits
  3. USC: 6 commits
  4. Penn State: 6 commits
  5. Auburn: 5 commits
  6. South Carolina: 5 commits
  7. LSU: 4 commits
  8. Texas: 3 commits
  9. Texas A&M: 4 commits
  10. Arkansas: 6 commits

2026 4-star QB out of Draper (UT) has committed to Texas A&M

Texas A&M has landed one of the top signal callers in the 2026 class

Texas A&M’s recruiting success under first-year head coach Mike Elko continued on Thursday, as one of the top signal callers in the 2026 recruiting class, 4-star quarterback Helaman Casuga has committed to the Aggies, giving OC Collin Klein his second QB commit after landing 2025 5-star Husan Longstreet.

So far this season, Texas A&M’s 5-1 record and 3-0 start in SEC play has excited numerous recruits in the 2025 and 2026 cycles, including Casuga, who chose the Aggies over hometown Utah and USC, feeling that A&M’s offensive system under Klein’s playcalling is the best first for his skillset.

After his most recent Texas A&M visit, Casuga became a fan of a program on the rise. He recently spoke with 247Sports’ Blair Angulo about what the Aggies offer under Mike Elko’s guidance.

“Offensive coordinator Colin Klein was a Heisman finalist and he’s a dawg. I feel like I can learn a lot from him and coach Mike Elko. They are a giant monster waiting to be awakened.”

Casuga threw over 6,475 yards and 60 touchdowns in his last two seasons, including 4,145 yards and 34 touchdowns during his 2023 sophomore season.

According to 247Sports, Casuga is currently positioned as the 178th-ranked prospect, the 13th-ranked quarterback prospect, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Utah.

2026 4-star QB out of Draper (UT) has changed his commitment date

Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class has a chance to expand this month

Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class is slowly growing. Still, given head coach Mike Elko’s recent success with the Aggies’ 2025 recruiting cycle, trust is warranted, especially if the Aggies continue winning during the 2024 season.

After defeating Arkansas 21-17 last weekend, Texas A&M’s late-game performance impressed the 2025 commits who were in attendance for the game, especially 2025 4-star wide receiver Kelshaun Johnson, who knows that his game-breaking speed can help the Aggie offense stretch the field as soon as next season.

Head coach Mike Elko and his staff will focus on the 2026 recruiting class next summer. One of the program’s priority targets, 4-star quarterback Helaman Casuga, has changed his commitment date to Thursday, Oct. 17.

Since then, Casuga has narrowed his choices to Texas A&M, USC, and Washington. The junior signal caller visited College Station during the Aggies’ Week 1 matchup with Notre Dame.

Casuga threw over 6,475 yards and 60 touchdowns in his last two seasons, including 4,145 yards and 34 touchdowns during his 2023 sophomore season.

After he visited College Station, Casuga was highly impressed with the coaching staff and facilities:

“Meeting with coach Mike Elko and coach Collin Klein was everything I expected — top notch. My family means everything to me and having them with me was my highlight. Some of the things that stood out for them was how nice the people were especially the Aggie staff. In narrowing down my final decision my family’s input will play a big part of decision.”

According to 247Sports, Casuga is currently positioned as the 181st-ranked prospect, the 13th-ranked quarterback prospect, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Utah. Casuga has received a prediction from 247Sports analyst Blair Angulo to land with Texas A&M.

Four-star QB Helaman Casuga sets commitment date, Auburn among choices

One of Auburn’s top 2026 targets will choose between Auburn and seven other programs next month.

One of Auburn’s top targets from the 2026 class is ready to announce his commitment.

[autotag]Helaman Casuga[/autotag], a four-star quarterback from Corner Canyon High School in Draper, Utah, tells Blair Angulo of 247Sports that he will announce his commitment on the official 247Sports YouTube channel on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 8:30 p.m. CT. Auburn is among the programs in the running to land Casuga along with Arizona, BYU, Nebraska, Texas A&M, USC, Utah, and Washington.

Ahead of his commitment announcement, Casuga highlighted why Auburn is a part of his top eight.

“My summer visit at Auburn was incredible,” Casuga said in an interview with 247Sports. “Coach Hugh Freeze welcomed my family and I with open arms and stays in touch with us weekly.”

Heluga’s 11th-grade season is off to a hot start as he has passed for 1,607 yards and 18 touchdowns through five games. Heluga passed for 6,475 yards and 60 touchdowns heading into the 2024 season with 374 rushing yards.

Texas A&M is the favorite according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 97.0% forecast. However, he has not received a crystal ball prediction from 247Sports recruiting experts. Heluga would be a welcomed addition to Auburn’s 2026 class that ranks No. 2 and includes three of the nation’s top 125 recruits.

Will Casuga be Auburn’s second offensive commitment of the 2026 cycle?

Four-star USC QB target locks in commitment date

Lincoln Riley and USC are trying to continue to stack their quarterback room well into the future and provide long-term stability for the Trojans.

Four-star quarterback Helaman Casuaga from Draper (Utah) Corner Canyon plans to reveal his college commitment on Oct. 8. Casuga will choose from a list of finalists that includes the USC Trojans. Arizona, Auburn, BYU, Nebraska, Texas A&M, USC, Utah, and Washington made the final cut for the signal caller, who plans to commit on Oct. 8 at 9:30 p.m. Eastern time, 6:30 Pacific, live on the 247Sports YouTube channel.

As a sophomore at Timpview High School last season, Casuga threw for 4,135 yards and ran for 389 yards, totaling 34 touchdowns. Following his sophomore season, he transferred to Corner Canyon High School with another USC target, wide receiver Jerome Myles.

Casuaga has had an even better junior year so far with 1,607 yards, 18 touchdowns, 2 interceptions, and a 65% completion rate. On the ground he added 229 yards and 2 touchdowns through five games. USC is always trying to find the next brilliant quarterback and create a line of succession for Lincoln Riley, the ultimate quarterback teacher in college football. We will see if USC can continue to stack quarterbacks into the future and solidify the program for years to come.

2026 4-star QB out of Draper (UT) has announced his commitment date

2026 4-star quarterback Helaman Casuga is a major Aggie target

Texas A&M’s 2026 recruiting class is slowly growing. Still, given head coach Mike Elko’s recent success with the Aggies’ 2025 recruiting cycle, trust is warranted, especially if the Aggies continue winning during the 2024 season.

After defeating the Florida Gators 33-20 in The Swamp, Elko and his staff know that winning and winning on the road in the SEC impacts recruiting. This weekend, the long list of Florida recruiting visitors saw one team dominate, and the home team fell flat.

One of the top signal callers in the 2026 cycle, a priority target for Elko and OC Collin Klein, has announced his commitment date, as 4-star quarterback Helaman Casuga out of Draper, Utah, will announce on Tuesday, Oct. 8.

Casuga will choose between Texas A&M, Arizona, Auburn, Brigham Young, Nebraska, USC, Utah, and Washington. The junior recently paid an unofficial visit to College Station on August 31.

After his Texas A&M visit, Casuga became a fan of a program on the rise.

This praise has become a trend from several recruits who visited this summer, as Elko’s impact on the program is seen weekly.

Casuga threw over 6,475 yards and 60 touchdowns in his last two seasons, including 4,145 yards and 34 touchdowns during his 2023 sophomore season.

In August, On3 recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong predicted that Texas A&M would land Casuga just weeks before his unofficial visit.

According to 247Sports, Casuga is currently positioned as the 181st-ranked prospect, the 13th-ranked quarterback prospect, and the 4th-ranked prospect in Utah.

USC makes the cut for four-star quarterback Helaman Casuga

Helaman Casuga adds intrigue to USC’s quarterback recruiting plans.

Earlier this week, four-star quarterback Helaman Casuga released his top eight schools. The USC Trojans made the cut alongside Arizona, Auburn, BYU, Nebraska, Texas A&M, Utah, and Washington.

As a sophomore Casuga led Timpview High School to a Utah state championship. He threw for 4,135 yards and ran for 389 yards, totaling 34 touchdowns.

The four-star quarterback has recently transferred to Utah powerhouse Corner Canyon (Utah) to replace Gatorade State Player of The Year and Utah Utes signal caller Isaac Wilson brother of Denver Broncos QB Zach Wilson who also played at Corner Canyon.

Casuga is listed as a four-star prospect by the 247Sports index and the nation’s 178th-ranked player. He also checks in as the 13th-ranked player at his position and the fourth-ranked player in the state of Utah.

With his junior season kicking off on Friday, Aug. 16, Casuaga’s timeline remains uncertain. Regardless, his cutdown list is a great sign for each team included.

It’ll be interesting to see how the quarterback domino effect falls with Julian Lewis, a 2025 commit after reclassifying, and 2026 five-star QB Ryder Lyons predicted to land with the Trojans. USC could have a loaded quarterback room by the fall of 2026.

Four-star quaterback Helaman Casuga places Auburn among top schools

Casuga is coming off a remarkable season for Timpview is Utah in which he accumulated more than 4,000 passing yards and 34 passing touchdowns.

2026 four-star signal caller [autotag]Helaman Casuga[/autotag] narrowed his list of top schools down to 8 on Monday. In a post on Twitter/X, Casuga thanked his family and coaches while sharing a graphic listing Auburn, Nebraska, Washington, Arizona, Texas A&M, Utah, BYU, and USC. The Provo, UT native also announced he would be giving out his top 3 choices later this year on his Instagram.

The 6-1, 200-pound quarterback is currently projected to commit to Texas A&M by many experts. However, the dual-threat quarterback prospect was on the Plains for a visit as recently as June, giving [autotag]Hugh Freeze[/autotag] and his staff the chance to have one of the more recent impressions of Casuga’s brain. He must have enjoyed his time enough to consider the Tigers for his commitment.

Casuga is coming off a remarkable season for Timpview in Utah in which he accumulated more than 4,000 passing yards and 34 passing touchdowns. His 4,145 passing yards were good enough for the third most in Utah, and the 23rd most nationally. Now playing football for Corner Canyon High School, Casuga has a chance to take off and improve on an already great high school career.

While the No. 4 prospect in Utah is not likely to announce his commitment anytime soon, we’ll see if Auburn can cut into his top three later this fall. If Hugh Freeze were to capture his commitment it would add another piece to the best 2026 class in the country.

2026 4-star QB out of Draper (UT) will visit Texas A&M later this month

One of the top quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting class will be in attendance for the 2024 season opener

While Texas A&M’s 2024 season opener vs. Notre Dame is the main priority for head coach Mike Elko and his staff, recruiting never takes a break. The Aggies’ 2026 recruiting class will take center stage during the opening weekend as one of the top 2026 signal callers will attend the matchup.

According to Rivals insider Landyn Rosow, 2026 4-star quarterback Helaman Casuga will visit College Station at the end of the month and attend the game. He will witness firsthand what the Elko era has to offer and how OC Collin Klein’s scheme fits his playing style.

So far, Texas A&M’s 2026 cycle is only two commitments deep, while 2025 5-star Husan Longstreet remains the only quarterback commit in any future Aggie recruiting class, and due to the ever-growing transfer portal, it’s smart to load up on talented signal callers in every cycle.

A true dual-threat quarterback, Casuga is just tall enough at 6 feet 1 inches and possesses impressive arm strength, accuracy, and touch. He has thrown for over 6,475 yards and 60 touchdowns in his last two seasons, including 4,145 yards and 34 touchdowns during his 2023 sophomore season.
