Where do the Commanders rank among potential ‘Hard Knocks’ options?

There are four options. Could the Commanders appear on “Hard Knocks” for the first time?

The NFL began the “Hard Knocks” series all the way back in 2001 with the defending Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens. Over the years, 17 different NFL teams have been featured on the series, with the Dallas Cowboys leading the way with three appearances.

The Washington Commanders have yet to appear on “Hard Knocks.” Not just the Commanders but the Washington franchise under its two previous monikers have yet to appear on the hit reality series.

For the first time, the Commanders have a real shot to be featured on the series in 2023. There are qualifiers to be exempt from the series, none of which apply to Washington [new head coach, two straight playoff berths, and appeared on “Hard Knocks” in the last 10 years].

That leaves four potential options for 2023: The Commanders, New York Jets, Chicago Bears and New Orleans.

Brendan Walker of NFL.com recently ranked the four choices, and the Commanders came in last, which would probably be a relief for head coach Ron Rivera and his coaching staff.

The order:

  1. Jets
  2. Bears
  3. Saints
  4. Commanders

Here’s Walker’s reasoning for ranking Washington fourth:

Here’s another rebuilding team that could end up being the most drama-producing (for you thrill-seekers), depending on how things play out this offseason. The Commanders are in a transition period, even beyond the fact that ownership might change hands. New offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy left a Super Bowl-winning, Patrick Mahomes-led team for a quarterback room that, at the time, was comprised of Sam Howell and Jake Fromm (and has since added Jacoby Brissett). Whether or not this eventually helps him land a head coaching job, he’s got guts, and I respect him for that. I’d love to see his interactions with the players.

There are other feel-good stories to track here, from the continued journey of Brian Robinson, who made an inspiring return to the field last season despite suffering multiple gunshot wounds in an August incident, to Jeremy Reaves, whose emotional reaction to hearing from head coach Ron Rivera that he’d earned Pro Bowl made me want to follow his story more. The Commanders have question marks all over, but maybe Hard Knocks could answer them in 2023.

Walker’s prediction was the Jets, which would be the ideal choice if the Aaron Rodgers’ circus heads to the Big Apple.

As for the Commanders, there are plenty of storylines, too. One of which could be a new owner.

The Commanders are one of four NFL teams who could be on Hard Knocks in 2023

Do you want to see the Commanders on Hard Knocks?

Hard Knocks began back in 2001 with the Baltimore Ravens. Baltimore, coming off a Super Bowl win, had one of the best defensive teams in NFL history in 2000.

The series aired on HBO and worked in conjunction with NFL Films to produce a behind-the-scenes look at the Ravens in training camp.

The series took you through player cutdowns and always seemed to feature an underdog for the viewing audience to fall in love with.

The series has continued since that time, with several NFL teams participating. The Dallas Cowboys lead the way with three appearances.

One team that has never appeared on Hard Knocks is the Washington Commanders or either of their previous two team names. That could change in 2023, according to the NFL’s schedule aficionado on Twitter.

Head coach Ron Rivera doesn’t seem to be the type of coach who would like the cameras around all the time. But Washington could have a new owner this spring, adding even more intrigue to the Commanders as a possibility for Hard Knocks in 2023.

Which team would you find the most interesting of the four teams listed?

Penei Sewell to be featured prominently on HBO’s Hard Knocks

HBO’s Hard Knocks is heading to Detroit to cover the Lions. That should give a great look at Penei Sewell in action.

[jwplayer EFD5HbnL]

One of the most exciting times of the sports year for hardcore football fans is every August when NFL training camp rolls around and HBO’s Hard Knocks gets released. It marks the start of football season, and as we see players crack pads and learn the stories of new guys in the league, we know that the glorious weekends that are filled with wall-to-wall coverage of football and constant checking of fantasy scores are not far off.

This year, Oregon Duck fans will get a little boost in that month of August as well, with it being announced that the Detroit Lions are going to be featured as this year’s team.

As every Oregon fan knows, it was the Lions who drafted former Ducks’ legend Penei Sewell early in the first round last season, making him one of the young premiere tackles in the game.

It will also be interesting to see what high-profile rookie the Lions have to show off, since they have the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL draft this season. There’s an outside chance that they could take someone like Oregon’s Kayvon Thibodeaux, but it seems like his stock has fallen well below that point unfortunately.

Regardless, it will be fun to tune into HBO on Sunday nights and get a glimpse at a Pro Duck doing his thing at the next level. From now until then, we will be looking forward to August.

Lions to be featured on HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ in 2022

#NFCNorth news: #Detroit #Lions to be featured on #HBO’s #HardKnocks in 2022

The Philadelphia Eagles have a young, rebuilding team that’s worthy of being featured on the critically acclaimed docuseries, HBO’s Hard Knocks, NFL training camp.

Based on the agreed-upon terms between the clubs and league that went into effect in 2014, NFL teams can avoid mandatory inclusion on Hard Knocks if they fall under any of three exemptions:

They have a first-year head coach.
They have a playoff berth in the past two seasons.
They have appeared on Hard Knocks in the past 10 years.

Philadelphia meets the standards, but they won’t be participating.

According to Adam Schefter the Detroit Lions will be featured on the 2022 installment of HBO’s “Hard Knocks”.

Detroit just confirmed the news.

WATCH: HBO shares preview clip of Hard Knocks with Micah Parsons

Get a quick preview of HBO’s Hard Knocks with a featured clip starring Micah Parsons

In the month of August, those Rookies who have received the opportunity to be a part of an NFL roster have to show what they are made of to be one of the 53 players on the main roster for the upcoming season. Among those league’s rookies this summer is none other than former Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons. The world is about to get a behind-the-scenes look at how Parsons is handling his first taste of being in the NFL.

Parsons was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the first round of the 2021 draft, and he has already created some highlights in his first preseason experience last week against the Pittsburgh Steelers. But now, fans will get to see some new angles of Parsons’ first days in the league with HBO’s Hard Knocks.

The season debut of Hard Knocks is set for Tuesday night, and Parsons will be one of the main storylines. NFL Films served up a preview of the episode focusing on Parsons.

HBO will follow Micah Parsons and his new team on Hard Knocks

Penn State’s Micah Parsons is expected to be featured on HBO’s award-winning Hard Knocks this summer.

Former Penn State linebacker Micah Parsons is preparing for his rookie season in the NFL with the Dallas Cowboys, and there is a good possibility we will get some inside looks at Parsons in training camp this summer. HBO announced this week it will follow the Dallas Cowboys for this year’s edition of Hard Knocks, the critically-acclaimed series taking a behind-the-scenes look at life in NFL training camp.

The Cowboys, love them or hate them, certainly have a lot going on for them in terms of interest. Penn State fans will be eager to see Parsons profiled as much as possible as the Cowboys’ No. 12 overall draft pick. Parsons is being set up to be the franchise linebacker for years to come, essentially taking the torch from former Penn State linebacker Sean Lee after Lee’s retirement.

But the Cowboys also have former Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott and former Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott. Prescott’s story will be particularly noteworthy as he returns from his season-ending injury from last year. Prescott’s injury is largely blamed for the Cowboys not capitalizing on a dreadful NFC East Division.

The Cowboys also have a new head coach running the team in former Green Bay Packers head coach Mike McCarthy.

How much of Parsons we see remains to be seen, but he will certainly be among the storylines the HBO cameras will be focusing on this year.

Hard Knocks: The Dallas Cowboys will premiere on August 2010. Parsons and the Cowboys will help kickoff the 2021 NFL Season as the road team in the league’s Thursday night opener against the defending Super Bowl champion Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sept. 9.

A former Badger will be on this year’s edition of HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’

Now it’s really starting to feel like football season is just around the corner

It was reported today that this year’s edition of HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks,’ a show detailing one NFL team’s preseason training camp, will travel to Dallas, Texas and focus on the Dallas Cowboys.

The series figures to be immense entertainment, with Jerry Jones and Mike McCarthy looking to bring the Cowboys back from a rough 2020 season.

But for Wisconsin fans, there is another reason to watch: former Badger Tyler Biadasz projects to be the team’s starting center and will be featured on the show.

Biadasz played 12 games last season for the Cowboys, starting four of them. He and the rest of the Cowboys should help HBO present a fascinating few weeks of television starting in a little over a month.

Dallas Cowboys to be featured on HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ in 2021

NFC East news: Dallas Cowboys to be featured on HBO’s ‘Hard Knocks’ in 2021

The Eagles firing of Doug Pederson signaled a rebuild for the franchise and another chance to avoid being featured on the critically acclaimed docuseries, HBO’s Hard Knocks, NFL training camp.

The first-year head coach and 2019 playoff birth assured that Jeffrey Lurie’s team could avoid the scrutiny, but one big named NFC East club will now get the nod according to Adam Schefter.

The league just confirmed the announcement.

With Dak Prescott returning from injury, the Dallas Cowboys and Jerry Jones will be featured.

Prescott has his contract, while players like Ezekiel Elliott, Amari Cooper, Michael Gallup, and CeeDee Lamb ensure a ton of star power.

Look for former Penn State star linebacker Micah Parsons to become the star of training camp.

This season, HBO’s Hard Knocks is following the training camp of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers. Former Wisconsin tackle and current Rams’ backup guard David Edwards has made a hilarious first appearance on the show.

The clip that made it’s way to Badgers’ and Rams’ social media shows Edwards struggling to get the last few sips out of his drink. It may be something a little bit silly, but some lighthearted Wisconsin Football content is nice to see right now.

Look out for former Badgers offensive linemen Rob Havenstein of the Rams and Ryan Groy of the Chargers, as they may also make an appearance this year on Hard Knocks. It is nice to see some former Badgers get nationwide recognition from Hard Knocks, like with Alec Ingold and the Las Vegas Raiders in last year’s series.

Promo for season premiere of ‘Hard Knocks: Los Angeles’ surfaces

Catch a glimpse of Chargers cornerback Casey Hayward getting a COVID-19 test.

We are hours away from seeing the Chargers take the big screen for HBO’s Hard Knocks.

Leading up into the season premiere of the five-episode series, NFL Media released the first promo for Los Angeles’ appearance.

The promo shows cornerback Casey Hayward getting a COVID-19 test.

This season will be interesting to say the least, as no preseason games will be shown and padded practices have yet to take place due to the coronavirus pandemic. Nonetheless, it will be fun to see Chargers players back in action leading up into the 2020 regular season.

Here’s how you can watch or stream the season premiere tonight.
