Hawks at Bulls picks and predictions

Prediction

Bulls 117, Hawks 111

Moneyline

PASS.

The spread presents a better opportunity for profit for the Bulls (-135).

Against the spread

BET BULLS -2.5 (-110).

The Bulls are 37-37-1 ATS this season while the Hawks are just 27-47 ATS. Atlanta is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 road games and 2-3 ATS in its last 5 as an underdog. It is also without G Trae Young who provides an edge when he is in the lineup. Chicago is 2-1 ATS in its last 3 games and is coming off an upset road win over Minnesota.

Over/Under

BET OVER 223.5 (-105).

Atlanta has an 8-1 Over record in its last 9 games while Chicago has a 7-3 Over record in its last 10. The Hawks have hit the Over in each of their last 7 games and have scored 113 or more in each of their last 6. They have given up 118 or more in 5 of their last 7. Chicago has hit the Over in 4 of its last 6 at home.

Hawks at Bulls picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawks 119, Bulls 110

Moneyline

BET HAWKS (-105).

Atlanta will be motivated to bounce back after a bad loss vs. a bottom-2 team in the Eastern Conference. The Hawks had won 5 straight before losing as 7.5-point favorites Saturday and should be focused Monday in Chicago. In the last meeting on Dec. 21, the Bulls covered as 5-point underdogs with a 110-108 win at Atlanta on a buzzer beater by G Ayo Dosunmu.

Against the spread

PASS.

There is no need to buy the extra 1.5 points on Atlanta when the Hawks should win straight up. Bet the moneyline or total instead.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 239.5 (-106).

The Hawks are good at bouncing back defensively as the Under is 4-0 in Atlanta’s last 4 games after failing to cover the spread in its previous contest. The Under is 15-6 in the last 21 meetings between these 2 teams in Chicago and Monday’s matchup should be another low-scoring affair.

Atlanta Hawks at Chicago Bulls odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Atlanta Hawks at Chicago Bulls odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Atlanta Hawks (28-30) stop by United Center Thursday for an 8 p.m. ET tip-off with the Chicago Bulls (38-21). Below, we look at the Hawks vs. Bulls odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Atlanta has won back-to-back games over the Cleveland Cavaliers (124-116 Feb. 15) and at the Orlando Magic (130-109 Feb. 17). The Hawks were 4-4 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) in the two weeks entering the All-Star break.

Chicago rides a 5-game win streak (4-1 ATS) into the second half of the season with the most recent being a 125-118 home win versus the Sacramento Kings as 5.5-point favorites. The Bulls are 7-3 SU and ATS in their last 10 games.

Hawks at Bulls odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Bulls 122, Hawks 110

Money line

BET the BULLS (-175), and I’d pay for Chicago’s money line (ML) all the way up to -180.

The Bulls waxed the Hawks 130-118 and 131-117 in a home-and-away back-to-back Dec. 27-29, and I don’t see this meeting playing out much differently. Chicago is 32-7 SU as favorites, and Atlanta is 6-12 SU as underdogs with a minus-5.6 margin of victory.

Not only is Bulls wing DeMar DeRozan playing at an MVP-caliber level, but Chicago big Nikola Vucevic gives the Hawks matchup fits since Vucevic eats up Atlanta big Clint Capela‘s defensive and rebounding bandwidth.

Vucevic put up 20.0 points on 51.5% shooting and 18.5 rebounds in the first two Hawks-Bulls meetings and had a plus-21 net rating.

Finally, the market has overrated Atlanta all season long based on a flukey run to last season’s Eastern Conference Finals. The Hawks were one of the favorites to make it out of the East during the preseason but will probably end up as a play-in seed.

For the record, the BULLS (-175) is my favorite wager.

PLAY: Free, daily sports pick’em contests. Play now!

Against the spread

LEAN to the BULLS -3.5 (-120) only because I’m so confident in Chicago I’m willing to spend extra on the ML. However, this is a much better spot for the Bulls, and the Hawks are atrocious on the road.

For instance, Chicago is 17-7 ATS as home favorites, 12-4 ATS at home versus teams below-.500 and 6-3 ATS when laying 3-4.5 points. Atlanta is 6-12 ATS as road underdogs, 3-13 ATS in the last 16 games versus teams with a 60.0% winning rate or higher and 1-6 ATS as underdogs of 3-4.5 points.

If Chicago’s ML goes north of -180 then I’d lay up to 5.5 points with the Bulls in this spot.

Also (shameless plug), I gave out Chicago’s spread in this week’s Bet Slippin’ Podcast episode so listen to that for more analysis on this game.

Over/Under

PASS.

I cannot play the Under 234.5 (-107) because there are too many reasons to like the Over (-115). However, I’m staying away from the Over because a majority of the market will be on the Over, and this total is a little too high.

That said, the first two Hawks-Bulls meetings soared Over the total, Atlanta is 10-8 O/U as road underdogs, Chicago is 13-10-1 O/U as home favorites, and both teams are top-seven in adjusted offensive free-throw rate, according to CleaningTheGlass.com.

Atlanta Hawks at Chicago Bulls odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Wednesday’s Atlanta Hawks at Chicago Bulls and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Atlanta Hawks (15-18) meet the Chicago Bulls (21-10) in the second of their back-to-back Wednesday at the United Center. The tip-off is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. Below, we look at the Hawks vs. Bulls odds and lines, and make our expert NBA picks, predictions and bets.

Chicago handled Atlanta in the first of their two-game series 130-118 Monday, easily covering as 3.5-point road favorites.

Bulls’ wings DeMar DeRozan and Zach LaVine combined for 65 points on 25-of-42 shooting and 19 assists in the win. It was Hawks’ point guard Trae Young‘s first game back after missing three games with COVID. Young put up 29 points on 8-of-23 shooting with 9 assists.

Chicago has won four straight games and covered in three of those four wins while Atlanta has lost four of its past five games with a 1-4 ATS record over that span.

Hawks at Bulls odds, lines, picks and predictions

Prediction

Bulls 115, Hawks 111

Money line

PASS because Chicago still has a decisive advantage given Atlanta’s injury report, but the Bulls (-380) is far too expensive for an NBA regular-season money line favorite.

Against the spread

“LEAN” to the HAWKS +7.5 (-107) for a half-unit because of the zig-zag theory mostly. Essentially, it’s tough to beat the same team in consecutive games in the NBA and it’s almost profitable to automatically bet against the team that just won the previous contest.

Also, Atlanta was randomly hit by sharp money as the Hawks changed 8.5-point to 7.5-point underdogs while I was writing this. A majority of the money is still on the Bulls, according to Pregame.com and the Yahoo! Sports app, but the line is moving towards Atlanta.

Maybe there’ll be breaking news about one of Atlanta’s players clearing the health and safety protocols or perhaps the “wise guys” just like the Hawks in this spot.

Either way, I can only “LEAN” to the HAWKS -7.5 (-107) because of the situation whereas I’m actually higher on the Bulls long-term. This just feels like a good spot to fade the public.

Over/Under

“LEAN” to the OVER 223.5 (-115) because there’s been a sharp line move towards the Over as the look-ahead total for Hawks-Bulls was 220.5 but has been steamed up.

More importantly, the assigned officiating crew for this game has a combined 39-33 O/U record. That matters because both teams’ leading scorers like to get to the charity stripe, and if these refs generally officiate more Overs then perhaps there’ll be more free-throw attempts in this game.

However, I can only “LEAN” to the OVER 223.5 (-115) since we are getting the worst of the number.

Hawks at Bulls: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Hawks 117, Bulls 112

Money line (ML)

HAWKS (-125) is a good play on the road as they kick off a new season with so much promise. Clint Capela is new in the middle with fellow newcomer Bogdan Bogdanovic, joining promising youngsters Cam Reddish and Trae Young. The Bulls (+105) have a strong frontcourt, and new coach in Billy Donovan, but their backcourt depth isn’t quite there. Atlanta’s depth should pull them through to a road win to start.

Against the spread (ATS)

A play on the HAWKS -2.5 (-105) is a play against the series trends, as the Bulls +2.5 (-115) are 8-2 ATS in the past 10 meetings in this series. However, with a new coaching regime, some backcourt issues, etc., look for Chicago to be on the short end at home.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 231.5 (-110) is the lean in the opener, based on trends in this series and a super high number. The Under has hit in 13 of the past 18 meetings at United Center. In addition, the Under is 22-8 in the past 30 for the Hawks as a road favorite, too.
