5-star LSU commits Bryce Underwood, Harlem Berry say NIL is not their top priority

LSU’s top 2025 commits seem to have bigger priorities than money.

In the modern age of recruiting, a lot of emphasis is placed on NIL. How many resources a team has at its disposal and how much of that it’s willing to allocate to a single player can prove to be a deciding factor in recruiting races.

But it’s not always the most important thing, and speaking at the On3 Elite Series, both five-star LSU quarterback commit [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag] and five-star running back commit [autotag]Harlem Berry[/autotag] agreed that they have bigger priorities.

“(People think) We don’t give what people deserve, but really and truly you get what you deserve,” Berry said, per On3. “You really shouldn’t be focused on money. You’re just trying to ball when you go to LSU… That’s the main goal, just being a team player you want to win a natty with your boys.”

Underwood added that his focus is on improving as a player, and money won’t factor greatly into the equation until he reaches the professional level.

“It’s mainly about what I’m trying to get to,” he said. “My main goal is the NFL, first draft pick. Money going to be the last thing I’m thinking about until I get to the league. Just keep the main thing, the main thing.”

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] recently said that LSU has no interest in “buying players,” regarding its lack of success in the spring transfer portal window. Luckily, it seems that its top two commitments in the 2025 class aren’t looking to be bought.

5-star receiver Dakorien Moore decommits from LSU

The Tigers suffered a major loss in their 2025 recruiting class on Thursday night.

The LSU Tigers have had a promising start to the 2025 recruiting class, but they suffered a tremendous loss from that group of commits on Thursday night.

[autotag]Dakorien Moore[/autotag], a five-star receiver from Duncanville, Texas, who ranks as the top wideout in the class decommitted from the Tigers, according to multiple reports.

Moore ranks as one of the best overall prospects in the 2025 class, sitting at No. 3 overall nationally, according to the 247Sports Composite. He has been committed to LSU since Aug. 12 of last year, and he was one of the key pieces in a recruiting class that ranked as high as No. 1 in the nation prior to his decommitment.

LSU still has quite a few promising pieces committed in the 2025 cycle, including No. 1 overall prospect quarterback [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag] and top running back [autotag]Harlem Berry[/autotag].

With Moore decommitting, he received multiple Crystal Balls to in-state Texas, which seems to be the favorite to land him now.

LSU QB commit Bryce Underwood shines in 7-on-7 camp

LSU commit Bryce Underwood put on a display in a seven-on-seven tournament in Orlando.

[autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag], the top quarterback and overall recruit in the country, is the crown jewel of LSU’s 2025 recruiting class.

When Underwood signs, he’ll become the top-rated QB recruit in LSU’s history. He put that talent on display over the weekend with a standout seven-on-seven performance in Orlando.

Underwood connected with fellow LSU commit [autotag]Harlem Berry[/autotag] several times throughout the weekend, including this one here, with Underwood delivering a ball over traffic and Berry making the contested catch for a score.

Berry is ranked as the top recruit in Louisiana by all four major recruiting services and is a five-star, according to On3’s Industry Ranking.

Berry wasn’t the only Louisiana product putting on a show. Here, Underwood connects with University High’s Zay Martin for a score. Martin holds offers from Nicholls, FIU and Georgia Tech.

Underwood committed to LSU in January. He’s a consensus five-star and a big reason why the Tigers have the No. 2 ranked class in the country.
