Michigan State football QB Hamp Fay switching positions

QB Hamp Fay is getting a look at a different position

Hamp Fay is getting worked out at a new position for Michigan State. After falling behind Noah Kim and Katin Houser for the backup QB position, Fay is getting a look at playing safety for Michigan State.

Fay was a member of the 2021 recruiting class for Michigan State, a 3-star QB from Texas. In his high school days, Fay was a wide receiver and defensive back until his junior season, so the position change isn’t totally out of place.

Looking at Michigan State Football’s early 2021 enrollees

Mel Tucker and Michigan State will have five early enrollees in the head mans first recruiting class of his tenure, the 2021 class.

January is here and Mel Tucker has just completed his first season as the head man of the Michigan State football program. With the end of the season here it also means the conclusion of the 2021 recruiting class is soon to come, Tucker’s first in East Lansing.

A big part of a recruiting class is finding some members to enroll early, joining the team in January for the offseason strength and conditioning program. It is a huge step for recruits to make if they have a desire to play early in their college careers.

Mel Tucker currently has 19 members in his first recruiting class at Michigan State, the class of 2021, and five have announced their intentions to enroll early this January. Lets look at who they are:

WATCH: Training session for Michigan State quarterback commit Hampton Fay

Fay shows off his impressive and healthy arm in a video from his quarterback coach.

Michigan State football feels like they got a plan “A” recruit in 2021 quarterback Hampton Fay.

Fay, a three-star prospect, has been considered underrated at his position since he was offered by the Spartans. (For more on Fay’s recruitment and why he is underrated, read this.)

Fay’s quarterback coach Foster Sawyer released a quick training video on Twitter and in it Fay’s talents are obvious.

Fay quickly goes through three progressions throws, displaying impressive arm strength and down field accuracy.

Now, this is of course throwing against air and in gym shorts, but Fay’s 2019 season was cut short after three games due to a shoulder injury that required surgery to fix. There have been some videos of Fay throwing out there since his procedure, but this is the first I’ve seen of him really opening it up and throwing deep. By the looks of it, Fay’s shoulder has recovered and is up to full strength.
