Key takeaways from first half of Chiefs vs. Buccaneers

The first half is in the books, so what did we learn about the Kansas City Chiefs?

That was about as good of a first half as you’ll see from a team offensively, with Patrick Mahomes and Tyreek Hill airing the ball out against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. They’ve combined for over 200 yards and two scores, with most of that coming in the first quarter. Surprisingly, this game feels like the Kansas City Chiefs should be winning by more, but the score is 20-7 heading into the half.

Here’s a look at some of the things we’ve taken away from the first half of play:

Halftime report: Six takeaways as Florida leads Kentucky heading into the locker room

The Florida Gators hold a tenuous lead over Kentucky at the half, 14-7, after two quarters of underwhelming offense and some big plays.

The first half of the Florida Gators football game against the Kentucky Wildcats in The Swamp is in the books and it did not quite go as well as many had expected, but had no shortage of excitement either. After the first 30 minutes of play, UF leads UK by a score of 14-10 heading into the locker room.

Florida’s offense sputtered while the defense continued to look suspect against the Wildcats so far — without two big plays this game could be a lot uglier for Gators fans. Everything seemingly went Kentucky’s way, as they controlled the ball and the clock throughout the first two frames of play. If not for a big catch by Kyle Pitts and an amazing punt return for a touchdown by Kadarius Toney, it would be a sad day for the Gator Nation.

Here is a look at six major points from the first half of play.

WATCH: Former QB Vince Young discusses Mack Brown’s halftime speech against USC

As part of the Championship Series presented by Amway, Vince Young sat down to discuss Mack Brown’s halftime speech against USC.

In 2005, the Texas Longhorns and Southern California Trojans faced off in one of the greatest games in college football history. The game took place 15 years ago, and it is still one of the most talked-about games. The players in the game, the storylines and the finish. It felt like a game that was written for Hollywood. You had USC alumnus Will Ferrell on one side. For Texas, it was Matthew McConaughey.

The Longhorns found themselves down 7-0 after one quarter. Vince Young lateraled to Selvin Young for their first touchdown. Ramonce Taylor scored on a 30-yard run to give them a 16-10 lead late in the second quarter. They held that lead into halftime. Head coach Mack Brown gave them a speech before heading back out to win the championship game.

So what did coach Brown tell the team at halftime of the 2005 BCS National Championship game? Young sat down with Aaron Murray as part of the Campus Lore Championship Moments series presented by Amway and XS Energy Drink to give some insight:

“His first thing was ain’t this fun guys?”, Young said laughingly. “Which it was, it was fun. But he [said] let’s relax, let’s get back tuned in. Don’t forget who they are, they are USC, back-to-back national champions. He made sure that we humbled ourselves and get back to staying focused. So we were excited at halftime, but the first thing he said was let’s get back to being focused. Because we had a whole second half to go. Coach Brown was really good at those things.”

Key takeaways from first half of Chiefs vs. Raiders

The first half is in the books, so what did we learn about the Kansas City Chiefs?

The Kansas City Chiefs are in a dogfight with the Las Vegas Raiders on “Sunday Night Football.” The Raiders currently lead 17-14 at the half after an interception by Patrick Mahomes cost the Chiefs a chance at points. They’ll get the ball to open the half, but they’ll need to play better on both sides of the ball if they’re to come away with a win.

Here’s a look at some of the things we’ve taken away from the first half of play:

Alabama looks to have a much stronger second half vs. Kentucky

Alabama has a comfortable lead over kentucky at the half, but those who are watching the game can see plenty of inconsistencies in Alabam…

Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide look to improve to 7-0 on the season to remain the only undefeated team in the SEC, as they face off against in-conference rival Kentucky.

As the two teams head into their respective locker rooms, Alabama leads 28-3.

Mac Jones is 13/16 on the half for 202 yards and two touchdowns without an interception.

Sophomore tight end Jahleel Billingsley leads the receiving corps with three receptions for 78 yards, though no touchdowns.

Najee Harris has been the only ball carrier so far on the day, and capped off his scoring with a 42-yard touchdown run. He’s tallied nine carries for 62 yards and two touchdowns.

The Crimson Tide defense has not looked to be as strong as it has in year’s past. The secondary has allowed 10 completed passes for 120 yards, courtesy of Terry Wilson.

The Kentucky ground game has also been giving Alabama some issues, Asim Rose has 8 carries for 42 yards, and has brought them close to the endzone multiple times.

Alabama’s lead should not be as large as it is, with Kentucky’s special teams having issues, only able to convert one of three field goal attempts.

Overall, this game is going Alabama’s way and the box score makes it seem like the Crimson Tide are dominating. However, those who are watching the game can see shakiness and incosistencies in Alabama’s play.

Here’s a breakdown of the first half of the Florida-Arkansas game

Florida Gators take a 35-14 lead into the locker room at halftime thanks to another superb showing from Kyle Trask and a few other reasons.

The first 30 minutes of play between the Florida Gators and Arkansas Razorbacks are in the books and so far, the game has followed the general expectations from the media and fans. UF enters halftime with a 35-14 lead behind another superlative performance from quarterback Kyle Trask.

Despite the lopsided score, Arkansas managed to put some pressure on Florida with a couple of big plays, but just were not able to slow down the offensive juggernaut that continued to roll in The Swamp Saturday night.

Here is a look at the five major points from the first half of the game.

Key takeaways from first half of Chiefs vs. Panthers

The first half is in the books, so what did we learn about the Kansas City Chiefs?

An ugly end to the first half for the Kansas City Chiefs as they trail the Carolina Panthers by four points in a 17-13 game. The Panthers came out willing to risk everything in the first half to keep up with the Chiefs’ dynamic offense. Meanwhile, the Chiefs have bungled a lot of golden opportunities in this game. Whether it’s getting off the field on defense or extending drives on offense, Kansas City is off to a sluggish start.

Here’s a look at some of the things we’ve taken away from the first half of play:
