Rockstar slyly leaked the GTA 6 trailer date in a GTA Online shirt

It turns out we knew the GTA 6 trailer date several months ago thanks to a GTA Online event, but we just didn’t realize it

It turns out we knew the GTA 6 trailer date several months ago thanks to a GTA Online event, but we just didn’t realize it. Rockstar gave out the shirt during an October event where players could get a shirt known just as the “??? Tee” if aliens abducted them, and it briefly showed up in June as well (thanks, VGC).

The shirt looks like a random string of numbers with some even more seemingly indecipherable symbols, but some keen fans did actually figure out what the numbers meant in June. They’re code for “OneDayWillRevealAll.” That seems pretty suitable for a drop from an alien conspiracy event, so most players just thought it was quirky and went about their business as usual without thinking it pointed to a new GTA game.

Some members on the GTA forums didn’t forget, though. They went back to find more clues in the shirt, and Twitter user _Dyllie shared their big discovery: 12523 – or, Dec. 5, 2023, the date of the GTA 6 trailer reveal. The number pattern Rockstar used even points to the trailer’s reveal time at 9 a.m.

It’s the kind of sneaky leak no one would ever guess, a string of random numbers with no significance unless you knew already that it was a date of importance.

Whether GTA Online is hosting any other GTA 6 secrets remains to be seen. Rockstar likes peppering Easter eggs and secrets in its games and reveals, though, so expect more tidbits and fantastical theories to start popping up on the forums after the first GTA 6 trailer goes live.

The best GTA games ranked from busted to most wanted

Our GTA games ranked list lays out what makes the best GTA games so good and where the open-world sandbox series from Rockstar falls flat.

[anyclip-media thumbnail=”undefined” playlistId=”undefined” content=”PHNjcmlwdCBzcmM9Imh0dHBzOi8vcGxheWVyLnBvcHRvay5jb20vYW55Y2xpcC13aWRnZXQvbHJlLXdpZGdldC9wcm9kL3YxL3NyYy9scmUuanMiIGRhdGEtYXI9IjE2OjkiIHB1Ym5hbWU9IjE5OTgiIHdpZGdldG5hbWU9IjAwMTZNMDAwMDJVMEIxa1FBRl9NODMzNSI+Cjwvc2NyaXB0Pg==”][/anyclip-media]

Going through a GTA games ranked list is a trip through nearly three decades of experiments, innovation, big ambition, and even bigger success. Rockstar’s genre-defining action game series had a rough beginning before it made the rest of the games industry sit up and take notice, and it influenced nearly every non-linear sandbox game afterward in some measure. Not every GTA game lived up to the reputation Rockstar created for itself, though, namely the portable spinoffs that saw GTA spinning its wheels instead of pushing ahead.

GTA Online’s UFO mystery hints at GTA 6 reveal, claims insider

Imagine if it took an alien invasion to reveal GTA 6.

Last year, fans found a peculiar image within the GTA Trilogy. Specifically inside GTA: San Andreas‘ Lil’ Probe’Inn bar, where there are pictures of iconic locations from across various Rockstar’s games — only with UFOs within each frame. However, one picture wasn’t from any existing Rockstar game, leaving many to believe it was a GTA 6 teaser.

We might finally know what all that was about finally. As noted by Dexerto, well-known leaker Tez2 claims that the UFOs hint at an upcoming Halloween event for GTA Online

“16 days before Halloween, Rockstar will start featuring UFOs within GTA Online,” Tez2 said via the unofficial GTAForums. “On October 23rd, the stealth UFO will appear instead of the regular UFO model.”

Later in the same thread, Tez2 explains how this might relate to GTA 6.

[mm-video type=video id=01gb5jy3kaew93hca6ag playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01gb5jy3kaew93hca6ag/01gb5jy3kaew93hca6ag-0a856cc85ea02a08f8f3a04c384b8b70.jpg]

“There’s no in-game hint towards GTA 6 within [GTA Online] files. Rockstar is cautious enough not to do that. But the hint may arrive within the tweet Rockstar will prepare to talk about the UFOs happening on GTA Online,” Tez2 continues. “We may receive a tweet like this one from Rockstar, except the newspaper may have a small extra section below suggesting tropical storms in two days or something like that. Thus, hinting at GTA 6‘s announcement.”

While teasing one of the biggest video game sequels ever through a Halloween event sounds like a reach, Rockstar is known for untraditional announcements. So who knows!

Last month, whispers began of GTA 6 having a female protagonist. Some were upset about that potential outcome but (thankfully) got a hazing for it.

GTA update time: What time is the GTA update for Criminal Enterprises?

The next big GTA Online update is dropping in just a couple of hours, here’s exactly when you can get playing.

We’re just a couple of hours away from the next big update to GTA Online. This update called Criminal Enterprises brings a lot of new toys to the sandbox game. This includes 18 new vehicles, new events like Ammunation delivery or bouncing for Nightclubs, and even a metal detector collectable. This is in addition to the new GTA missions and story content coming with this bombastic update.

Arguably the most anticipated part of this update is the fixes that have been promised to the many griefing issues that have plagued GTA Online since it first launched. The PC version especially is renowned for being a hacker’s paradise, and this update will crack down on some of these players. Full details haven’t been released yet, but one confirmed feature is that players deliberately driving the wrong way in a race will be ghosted, so they can’t collide with the other racers.

GTA 5’s Michael may be coming to GTA Online

One of GTA 5’s protagonists could be venturing into the popular multiplayer mode.

Michael, the foul-mouthed father from GTA 5, might be arriving in GTA Online.

As first spotted by VG247, datamining expert Rollschuh2282 came across a peculiar scenario starting point in GTA Online‘s PS5 and Xbox Series X|S ports. It’s likely the start of an upcoming mission located outside of Record A studios in Los Santos.

Some hours later, well-known GTA Online updates source Tez2 found an in-game character strolling around the same spawn point between certain hours. The NPC in question is tagged with “movie_set” in GTA Online‘s code. Most fans believe this has something to do with the recent Vespucci Job Remix racing minigame, as it contains loads of classic film references.

Check out a screenshot of the mysterious character below.

All these movie mentions are leading everyone to hypothesize that Michael could make an appearance in GTA Online. Reason is that in The Contract DLC, we learn that Michael is working for Solomon Richards at the Richards Majestic movie studios. Remember that this is speculation, but the evidence is sound.

In any event, something strange is brewing in GTA Online. Incredibly, the multiplayer mode is still popular, even getting a massive content patch last month.

5 biggest changes in GTA Online update 1.41

The first major update to GTA Online since it launched on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, we’ll give you the rundown of all the biggest changes.

With GTA Online up and running on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, fans new and old are picking up the game again. These new versions, dubbed GTA 5 Expanded & Enhanced, have renewed interest in GTA Online over the past few months, especially with the promise that these enhanced features will be making their way to the Steam version soon.

One of the first updates to the game since this version launched has now been released, and while it doesn’t add new content, it makes a lot of quality of life changes fans have wanted for a while. This coincides with a big bug fixing update to GTA 5  across all platforms.

[mm-video type=video id=01fy6szkw7j3hdqz3aec playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01fy6szkw7j3hdqz3aec/01fy6szkw7j3hdqz3aec-da5d454bda0bc7e7f082543f087fb1d3.jpg]

GTA 5 update 1.56

This update fixes a host of issues that have plagued different versions of the game for a while. Specific to the PS5 was an issue where the adapted trigger feedback on a select few cars was far too strong. Then, specific to Xbox Series X/S were issues involving game audio not loading when launching the game, or joining a party.

On top of that, the full patch notes list fixing “several crashes”, which are unspecified, and a glitch that locked the game up when trying to transfer characters to the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions.

Motion blur settings

GTA 5 Motion Blur running down the highway

Post-processing effects, such as motion blur often divide opinion, especially amongst PC gamers. Some enjoy the smoothness and visual quality it brings, while others find it irritating, and those prone to motion sickness can suffer greatly from its effects.

It’s commonplace for these sorts of options to be customisable on PC, but they are only now being introduced as options on consoles. GTA Online is catering to those who want greater control over their experience. It now has a slider that adjusts the severity of the motion blur, all the way down to completely removing it.

Faster transitions

GTA 5 Online loading screen Michael

One thing that has always been a nightmare for GTA Online players is the load times. When the game first boots up, it can take upwards of 5 minutes from launching the game to loading into the world. This goes extra on PC, where even story mode suffers from long loads.

One of the fixes in update 1.41 improves the experience for the recently released PS5 and Xbox Series X/S editions. Changes have been made that optimise the transition between story mode and online. It’s a small fix, but one that should save you time and frustration when trying to get online.

Expanded & Enhanced on PC…sort of

The Expanded & Enhanced edition of GTA 5 has been available on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S for a little while now, and it pushes the game’s performance and graphical fidelity to a new level. With 4K resolution and 60fps on consoles, the game is taking full advantage of the technology on offer.

This upgrade has also been promised for the Steam version of the game on PC. It’s not quite ready yet, but this update is a promising sign. PC players have found that the files for Expanded & Enhanced have been added to the game’s directory, they’re just currently empty. Hopefully, this means a full update will be coming sooner rather than later.

Hide jobs/events on the map

GTA Online Map with job icons

A theme throughout this GTA Online update is customisation options. There is a push to give greater control over the experience, which pairs well with the different modes on offer with the Expanded & Enhanced edition.

One of these is a simple quality of life option that allows you to hide jobs and events from their UI, be it on the minimap or regular map. With such an expansive amount of jobs, heists, events, missions, and more stuffed into GTA Online in 2022, it’s easy for the map to become way too crowded with icons, making it much harder to read. This change gives you the ability to dispose of that which does not spark joy like Marie Kondo.

Increased payouts for MC Business & Nightclub

GTA Online Nightife official art

When it comes to making the most money possible in GTA Online, investing in the MC Businesses & Nightclub features is the way to go. As well as being luxurious places to visit in the urban open-word, businesses let you store and sell drugs for a tidy profit, whilst the nightclubs can earn huge cash on a continuous basis once it’s up and running.

The two are designed to go hand-in-hand, with nightclubs allowing upgrades such as cocaine lockups, which can keep the drug money flowing. Despite already being great ways to make money, update 1.41 has made them even better. It’s not specified by how much the payouts have been increased, but you can expect to be making more than ever from them going forward.

GTA 5 and GTA Online will release for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S in March

Rockstar confirms the next-generation on GTA is on the way.

After years of teasing, Rockstar will finally bring GTA 5  and GTA Online  to PS5 and Xbox Series X|S on March 15.

These are not vanilla ports of GTA 5  and GTA Online  either. Rockstar said Friday that the  PS5  and  Xbox Series X|S  versions will have loads of new graphical enhancements.

The new graphics options for GTA 5  and GTA Online  include:

  • 4K resolutions.
  • 60 frames per second (FPS).
  • Texture and draw distance improvements.
  • HDR options.
  • Ray-tracing support.
  • Faster load times.
  • 3D audio.
  • Haptic feedback (platform-specific).

Rockstar also confirms that you’ll be able to transfer both story mode progress in GTA 5  and character progression in GTA Online  to the new console versions.

GTA Online  will also be a standalone release, meaning fans can purchase and download it without purchasing GTA 5  (or replay its prologue) again. Everything multiplayer fans want without the single-player trimmings, more or less. It makes sense, as GTA Online  is so big that  Dr. Dre’s newest music made its debut  in the game.

Rockstar also snuck in a GTA 6  announcement in its  blog  about these remasters. It’s funny how most studios have to spend millions on  Game Awards trailers  to send fans into frenzies while Rockstar can just confirm things in one sentence on its blog and get similar results.

GTA 6 development is “well underway”, according to Rockstar

Grand Theft Auto 6 (or VI?) is well into development, according to Rockstar Games’ latest GTA Online blog post.

Grand Theft Auto 6 development is “well underway” according to Rockstar Games in a new GTA Online community update, with “official details” coming to the Rockstar Newswire in the future.

Grand Theft Auto 6 has been speculated on endlessly for years, and with Grand Theft Auto V‘s next-gen PS5 and Xbox Series update delayed, fans assumed it’d be a while longer before anyone gets the chance to play Rockstar’s next big open world adventure.

This new information comes shortly after Red Dead Online fans were dismayed with how little content had been added to the game since launch, with very little being added even after Red Dead Online was released as a standalone digital game.

[mm-video type=video id=01fm7bsdg4e7hwk3yb3b playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01fm7bsdg4e7hwk3yb3b/01fm7bsdg4e7hwk3yb3b-a249c3e5a3471a0187b8d432924aeae0.jpg]

Rockstar hasn’t had it easy lately, as it was only mere weeks ago that Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy Definitive Edition remastered the PS2 trio of GTA games, and it was met with a mostly negative response thanks to issues relating to visuals, bugs, and performance.

The confirmation that GTA 6 is in development, with the promise of more information coming soon, will have fans feeling relieved and hopeful for the first time since GTA Online‘s The Contract heist was launched, which saw Dr. Dre making an appearance in the game, complete with new music featuring Eminem.

Elsewhere Rockstar’s blog post confirms that the PS5 and Xbox Series versions of GTA Online will be coming this year with new features alongside a standalone GTA Online digital launch. That standalone version will be free for three months for PS+ subscribers on PS5. Game Pass subscribers can hope for a similar deal coming their way.

There’s still plenty of time to speculate on what Grand Theft Auto 6 could be, but for now Rockstar has given fans a reason to be patient, and get excited for the future of Grand Theft Auto.
