Video: Greg Hardy knocked down twice, KO’d in boxing match

Greg Hardy’s latest post-UFC combat sports experience didn’t go so well.

[autotag]Greg Hardy[/autotag]’s latest post-UFC combat sports experience didn’t go so well.

Hardy, a UFC veteran and former NFL All-Pro defensive end, was knocked down twice by Alexander Flores, part of being knocked out in the 17th round while competing for the Dallas Enforcers in a Team Combat League event Friday at Mohegan Sun Arena in Uncasville, Conn.

You can watch the finishing sequence in the video below (via Twitter):

Hardy, who entered the UFC in January 2019 after a developmental deal through Dana White’s Contender Series, had his final UFC fight in March 2022. A first-round TKO loss to Serghei Spivac capped a three-fight skid, and Hardy wasn’t re-signed after finishing his contract.

Since departing the UFC, Hardy has continued to compete in combat sports. Not counting his Team Combat League appearances, which are considered exhibitions, Hardy is 2-0 as a boxer. He also tried his hand at bareknuckle boxing this past February, when he was finished by Josh Watson in the second round at BKFC: Knucklemania 3.

Former Panthers DE Greg Hardy dropped twice, KO’d in boxing match

Former Panthers DE Greg Hardy suffered his second KO loss of the year on Friday night.

Another fight, another knockout for Greg Hardy . . . or should we say “of” Greg Hardy?

The former Carolina Panthers defensive end put his undefeated boxing record on the line Friday night, stepping into the Team Combat League ring with Alexander Flores. But unfortunately for the Dallas Enforcers heavyweight, he’d step out with a heavy loss.

This is the second time this year Hardy has suffered a knockout defeat. The first came back on Feb. 17, when he fell (pretty brutally) to Josh Watson during a bout for Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship in Albuquerque, N.M.

Prior to this latest setback, Hardy was 2-0 with the Enforcers—having picked up both his of victories on May 18. He also has a 2-0 mark as a professional boxer outside of TCL.

The “Prince of War,” in a reply on TCL’s Instagram account, wrote the following about the knockout:

Good stuff by the big man, and I enjoy the league but get a better head line guys lol lets be sports man lol can’t wait to get another shot. Here to learn and excited about doing work with real killers. No excuses and congrats to LA. Hands down, Man down

“It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood,” Hardy said at the presser. “This is what I do. Big-time shows, big-time events. I hope ya’ll don’t miss it. Buy the tickets, because it’s going to be entertaining as hell. I never let you down. I never quit on you. Either I leave on a stretcher, or they leave on a stretcher, and it’s about to happen again. It’s about to be amazing. How can you not be excited about this?”

The bout will be Hardy’s third combat sports competition since his UFC departure in early 2022. The last time he fought in the UFC, he lost to Sergey Spivak by first-round TKO. He left the promotion on a three-fight losing streak.

Since then, Hardy, 34, has competed twice in professional boxing. He made his debut with a knockout of Mike Cook last October and then defeated Hasim Rahman Jr. by four-round unanimous decision in November.

Boxing video: Greg Hardy drops Hasim Rahman Jr. with counter right, wins unanimous decision

Greg Hardy is now 2-0 in pro boxing.

UFC veteran [autotag]Greg Hardy[/autotag] has picked up another win in the boxing ring.

At MF & DAZN: X Series 003 on Saturday, Hardy shared the ring with Hasim Rahman Jr. for a four-round pro boxing bout. The fight reached the final bell, but Hardy, who weighed in at 320 pounds, 94 pounds heavier than Rahman Jr., nearly ended the fight early.

The event took place at the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, and aired on DAZN.

The size advantage was very apparent from the beginning, and Hardy used that to his advantage by controlling the center of the ring. Rahman Jr. circled on the outside while picking his shots well, and landed a very nice left hand to get Hardy’s attention. Despite the size disadvantage, Rahman Jr. started this one well.

However, in the second round things changed. After both men seemingly emptied the tank, Hardy landed a well-timed counter right hand that sent Rahman Jr. to the canvas.

Check out video of the knockdown below (via Twitter):

Rahman Jr. returned to his feet to beat the count, and ended up landing a big punch of his own before the end of the round.

The second round was the most action-packed of the fight, as the tempo slowed over the final two rounds. Although Rahman Jr. landed a few nice punches and combinations, he couldn’t do enough to win the final frames.

The judges turned in identical scores of 39-36 in favor of Hardy, who notches his second pro boxing win.

“No camp, no Fs given, I’m ready for anybody,” Hardy said during his post-fight interview. “Give me some notice, let me lose some weight, I’ma hurt everybody. This is my division now.”

Hardy exited the UFC after a first-round TKO loss to Serghei Spivak at UFC 272 in March. He then made the jump to boxing, where he defeated Mike Cook in October, before taking on this short-notice opportunity against Rahman Jr., who was originally set to face former UFC champion Vitor Belfort.

The Misfits Boxing event scheduled for Saturday in Austin, Texas has a new main event, but a little UFC flare remains.

With former UFC champion Vitor Belfort out, former UFC heavyweight Greg Hardy has stepped in to fight Hasim Rahman Jr., in a four-round bout, the promotion announced Tuesday.

Rahman (12-1, 6 KOs) weighed 100 pounds less than Hardy (1-0, 1 KO) in their most recent bouts – 224¼ pounds, compared to 324½.

The show will be streamed on DAZN.

Belfort’s withdrawal was first reported by MMA Fighting. It is unclear at this time why Belfort withdrew.

Hardy, 34, made his professional boxing debut in October, when he defeated Michael Cook by a second-round TKO. Hardy went into boxing on the heels of his departure from the UFC in March, following the conclusion of his contract.

Prior to his UFC stint, Hardy was a Pro Bowl defensive end in the NFL. His career was riddled with controversies, including charges of domestic violence.

Rahman enters the bout off his first career loss, a fifth-round TKO against James McKenzie Morrison in April.

He was booked to fight Jake Paul at Madison Square Garden in August. However, Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions canceled the event when it claimed Rahman did not intend to make the agreed-upon weight. After the cancelation, Rahman Jr. held his own unofficial weigh-in to prove a point but still missed his scheduled mark by 1.6 pounds.
